Anti-theft chapter ~ Thank you for subscribing to the official version of Jinjiang Literature City ~ Sun Ting called Jiang Xi, thinking that she had really had diarrhea from the porcelain bowl of porridge in the morning, so she ran to the toilet several times in a row.
The dark main room was always occupied by a burly male beggar, whose bandit-like aura made people tremble with fear. Naturally, Sun Ting did not doubt that her classmate had the courage to "get close to him".
"Lazy people poop a lot." The female college student gave her a sidelong glance.
Jiang Xi didn't have the time to deal with her.
But Sun Ting, usually good-tempered, stiffened her neck and engaged in a relentless argument with the female university student. The captive "little darlings" watched the two adults bickering with tears in their eyes, their sobs forgotten for a moment, leaving only a few habitual sniffles.
"Don't make noise outside." Jiang Xi reminded.
The two of them stopped at the same time - neither wanted to challenge the patience and empathy of the group of beggars outside the door.
Sun Ting stamped her feet, then carefully helped Jiang Xi sit down against the wall, as if she was a fragile piece of glass.
Jiang Xi had been kindly forgotten for many years, and his heart had long been tempered into a cold and hard stone. But now being treated so carefully, this stone heart seemed as if a group of densely packed ants were crawling over it, itching and with a bit of unspeakable bitterness.
Even the skin between their hands felt hot. Jiang Xi felt so guilty that she didn't dare to look into Sun Ting's clear eyes - after all, she was just dreaming of escaping alone.
Jiang Xi moved to the other side uncomfortably, trying to get away from Sun Ting's intimate flesh-to-flesh contact, but unexpectedly bumped into the boy's curled up body.
Scalding hot
I feel like the eggs can be steamed just by rolling them on it.
Jiang Xi quickly withdrew his hand, knowing full well that this was probably an infection caused by improper intercourse. The boy was too young to withstand such an ordeal. In his previous life...
She shook her head, realizing she couldn't remember anything for a moment. It was true, after so much time had passed, many things were still fresh in her memory, while many others had long since become insignificant garbage.
"He has a fever?"
The female college student came closer, and the smell of sour food mixed with the greasy smell of long-unwashed hair hit her nose. Sun Ting unconsciously stepped back, but found that Jiang Xi acted as if he hadn't smelled anything. He sat upright, with a rare look of confusion on his face.
The little boy was lying on his back with his legs up in the air. His delicate face was flushed red and his pointed chin was resting pitifully against his collar. Jiang Xi noticed that even though the fabric of his clothes was torn by the rubbing and rolling around, one could still tell how expensive they once were. He was obviously a child from a wealthy family.
The straw mattress beneath the boy cast a heavy shadow, and sweat seeped into it.
"He's dizzy from the fever."
The female college student reached out and touched it, but there was no response for a long time.
Jiang Xi's eyes were sullen. She stood up and scooped a pot of water from the water tank against the south wall. She had no towel, of course. Her summer shirt was thin, so she used her teeth to rip her three-quarter sleeves down to a half-length. She soaked the cotton cloth in water and handed it to Sun Ting.
"Me?" Sun Ting pointed at herself.
Jiang Xi nodded.
She once raised a rabbit in Sangjia Dang. Life was difficult, and she could only chat with the rabbit. To this end, she cared for it with great care, cutting grass and cleaning the cage, taking care of every detail, raising it like her own child. But in the end, the rabbit was stewed and eaten by those barbarians. Women from Sangjia Dang were not allowed to be at the table. When she saw it, only a pile of gnawed bones remained.
Sad, but this sadness is also mixed with a bit of self-loathing.
From then on, Jiang Xi knew that when people are weak, they should not even have the right to be kind. People like her who can barely protect themselves should not have any extra conscience.
But the heart that was still beating in her chest felt like it was being fried in oil and burned, causing blisters and making her feel uneasy.
Sun Ting, oblivious to her calculations, took the handkerchief without a care in the world and clumsily placed it on the boy's forehead. Like most high school students raised in a world of luxury, Sun Ting had been raised by her parents to be lazy and ignorant. Jiang Xi watched her struggle for a long time, then, unable to bear it any longer, took over the handkerchief again.
As soon as Jiang Xi got the cotton cloth soaked in well water, his heart suddenly fell to the ground and he felt at ease.
Sun Ting carefully wiped Jiang Xi's forehead, neck, armpits, and knees with her cotton sleeves. She looked at Jiang Xi's methodical movements, thinking about something.
Jiang Xi didn't notice her gaze, but instead his eyes fell on the boy's half-open collar. On his fair and delicate skin, the red marks of adult fingers crisscrossed, which was shocking at first glance.
She paused for a moment, then continued as if nothing had happened, until the cotton cloth was warm, then soaked it in water, wrung it out, and rubbed it again, repeating this over and over again.
The female college student squatted and watched quietly for a while, then turned around and pushed the door to go to the main room.
"The stream—"
Jiang Xi stopped and looked up. Sun Ting reached out and grabbed her slightly curled left hand and asked, "What's wrong with your left hand?"
Oops, we've been discovered.
Not really. Jiang Xi wasn't really panicking at all. He just frowned slightly and acted as if nothing had happened. He shook his head and said, "Nothing. I just scraped a little bit."
"Sister...?" At this moment, the boy lying on his back opened his eyes. He had a pair of clear, glass-like eyes, moist from the intense heat. He looked at people with an unusually gentle and well-behaved demeanor, a stark contrast to his usual rebellious nature. "Is it my sister who has been taking care of me?"
"Ding—Congratulations to the host! Five more days of popularity. Do you want to enable the 'visible only to me' function?"
