Chapter 27 Skin Condition

Chapter 27 Skin Condition

The lounge was brightly lit, as bright as day.

Luo Xincheng pressed Fu Zhiheng's shoulder to make him sit on the sofa, then pinched his chin to force him to raise his head and face the light source.

The bright light made him close his eyes uncomfortably, and Luo Xincheng, seeing this, offered a rare word of comfort.

"Wait a moment, I'll get it out for you right away."

Fu Zhiheng gave a muffled "hmm," and as she watched her face get closer and closer, her tears flowed even more fiercely.

So close.

He was so close he could feel her breath on his face, accompanied by a subtle fragrance that powerfully invaded his breathing.

Her hands were so cold, and her fingertips were still wet with his tears.

As if searching for the right angle, she pinched his face and turned it from side to side. He looked at her and narrowed his eyes seriously, then paused for a moment.

"Found it."

Although they are called 'contact lenses', there are actually not many colorless and completely transparent contact lens styles on the market; most of them have a bluish tint.

The contact lenses Fu Zhiheng wore today were light blue, and under the bright light, a faint blue ring could be clearly seen around the edge of his pupils.

Upon seeing the lens, she calmed herself down, held his eyelids open with one hand to prevent him from closing his eyes, and reached into his eyes with the other, using her fingernail to pry out his contact lens in one go.

...

Fu Zhiheng blinked slowly.

Without the intense feeling of a foreign object or the stinging pain, blinking became very easy.

"Luckily, it's just cracked." Luo Xincheng examined the lens she had just taken out against the light, feeling relieved. "If it had really shattered into several pieces, I would have had to call 120 for you."

Fu Zhiheng, contrary to his usual behavior, did not respond to her words. He remained silent, absentmindedly touching his eyelids, recalling the moment her fingernails touched his eyeballs.

It's itchy...

He glanced at her and watched as she threw the cracked contact lens into the trash can, then breathed a sigh of relief.

Immediately afterwards, she relaxed completely and slumped lazily onto the sofa.

Her eyes were unfocused; I wondered if she was spacing out.

A slight smile curved his lips. "Could you help me take out my other contact lens?"

Luo Xincheng, who had been slouching, suddenly straightened up, her back ramrod straight.

A secret smile flickered in his eyes, but he said in a serious tone, "It's strange to see things with only one contact lens. One side is very clear, but the other side is blurry, and I feel a little dizzy."

Luo Xincheng thought about it and realized it made sense; who only wears one pair of glasses?

Help someone to the very end, and see them through to the end.

Removing contact lenses was simpler than she thought; she succeeded on her first try. Practice makes perfect, and the second attempt was even more efficient.

"OK."

She stood up, flexed her wrists, and walked closer, but her expression was indescribably serious.

It doesn't look like he's trying to help out; it looks more like he wants to fight him.

Fu Zhiheng suppressed a laugh, raised his face as she leaned forward, and widened his eyes to help her see more clearly.

"You should wear glasses from now on."

She couldn't help but complain, her warm, wet breath spraying onto his eyelids as she spoke.

He felt as if he had been burned, and involuntarily closed his eyes, revealing thin, damp eyelids with bluish-purple veins.

Seeing this, Luo Xincheng quickly said, "Don't close your eyes, otherwise I won't be able to help you remove the lens."

"……Um."

He reopened his eyes, said an apology in a low, hoarse voice, and opened his eyes as wide as possible to expose his vulnerable eyeballs to her.

They displayed a high degree of trust.

Since the contact lens wasn't damaged, Luo Xincheng no longer felt that sense of urgency, and when she helped him remove the lens, she wasn't as focused as before.

So when I got close to his eyes, I was distracted and felt his soft eyelashes brush against my fingertips, causing a very slight tremor.

Although he didn't show it, he was probably still scared inside.

Luo Xincheng thought to herself, after all, if she didn't control her strength well, she might poke his eyes.

Her wandering thoughts didn't affect her movements; with a swift and decisive motion, she removed the other contact lens.

"Are you done?"

"alright."

The two spoke at the same time.

The scorching breaths clashed and mingled, so hot that the air almost melted into a sticky gel.

Luo Xincheng kept a straight face and instinctively took a big step back, creating a relatively safe distance between them.

Then, avoiding his lingering gaze, she turned and walked towards the door of the lounge.

Fu Zhiheng was startled and hurriedly grabbed her hand.

Where are you going?

Luo Xincheng didn't know either.

Fleeing the scene that made her uneasy was just a subconscious reaction; she didn't think too much about it.

So after he grabbed her, her mind raced, "...go and get someone to get you eye drops and glasses."

She calmly turned around and then shook her hand.

Fu Zhiheng held onto her hand tightly, looking up at her with bloodshot eyes and a sickly red ring around her eyes, making her look quite pitiful.

"Will you come back?"

"..."

Luo Xincheng glanced at the hand that was wrapped around her wrist, and her lips twitched slightly. "Would you let me go if I said I wouldn't answer?"

He quickly let go of her hand, lowered his head in embarrassment, and said, "I'm sorry."

Luo Xincheng said dryly that it was nothing, and after asking about his myopia, astigmatism, and pupillary distance, he couldn't wait to walk out of the lounge.

Fu Zhiheng stared forlornly in the direction she disappeared. After a long while, he suddenly raised his hand and pressed it against his eyelids.

He felt the presence of her eyeballs through her eyelids, stroking them back and forth, and could still vaguely ruminate on the lingering touch of her fingertips.

It's heart-stopping.

It's tingly and itchy.

...

A few minutes later, Luo Xincheng returned to the lounge as if nothing had happened.

"Here you go." She placed the eye drops in front of him, her tone businesslike. "The housekeeper will bring the glasses over later."

"Okay, thank you for your hard work."

Fu Zhiheng thanked him gently and slowly unscrewed the medicine bottle.

Luo Xincheng sat down opposite him, resting her chin on her hands, watching him put in eye drops with a bored expression.

After calming down outside for a while, she is now completely at peace with herself, certain that no matter how she looks at him, she will no longer waver.

Soon, Fu Zhiheng finished putting in the eye drops. He blinked, slowly getting used to the cool liquid soaking into his eyes.

"Thank you." He then turned to look at me, his tone becoming lighter. "I feel much better."

Luo Xincheng nodded, noticing that the bloodshot in his eyes had faded somewhat, indicating that the eye drops were working well.

Some of the eye drops failed to reach his eye socket and instead flowed down the corner of his eye.

Then Luo Xincheng watched as he took out a handkerchief from his pocket and rubbed it around his eyes to dry his skin.

Her gaze followed his movements, moving from his eyelids to the corners of his eyes. As she looked, she suddenly realized that something seemed to be missing.

"you……"

When he heard the sound and lifted his eyelids to look at her, the handkerchief had just been moved away from his lower eyelid.

Luo Xincheng stared intently at his fair skin under his eyes, and finally realized that something was wrong.

Where are your dark circles?

She vaguely remembered that during their previous meetings, his dark circles were still very noticeable, visible even through his glasses, and his face always exuded a gloomy and lingering weariness.

But now, apart from his eyes not being in very good condition, his face is free of dark circles, and his skin is flawless even under bright light, radiating health from the inside out.

The more she looked, the more alarmed she became. "Did you have cosmetic surgery?"

She clicked her tongue in amazement, "What project is it? The results are so good!"

"Are you complimenting my skin?" He smiled, flattered. "Thank you, but I didn't do any of those things you mentioned."

"The disappearance of my dark circles is probably due to good sleep recently."

"Have you been having trouble sleeping lately?"

"Yes, I often have insomnia, but I've been in a better mood these days, so I've been sleeping better."

Luo Xincheng nodded thoughtfully.

Suddenly I remembered that his skin had always been in good condition throughout high school.

While boys his age were still covered in acne and pimples, his face was always clean, with skin so smooth that you had to get very close to see his pores.

Once, Luo Xincheng asked him if he had any skin care secrets, and whether he usually took care of his skin at home. He just shook his head innocently and blankly.

"Skincare? I don't know how, but I do use face cream in winter, otherwise my face gets too dry and peels."

Then Luo Xincheng asked him with great interest what brand of face cream he was using.

He touched his nose and said, somewhat embarrassed, about a nationally renowned baby cream brand.

Luo Xincheng: ...

It's true that good skin is like winning the lottery; people with naturally good skin don't need all those random skincare products.

Undeterred, she then inquired about his lifestyle and daily diet.

After learning that he rarely stays up late, doesn't like sweets, and eats light meals with very little strong flavor, I felt completely relieved.

I can't do it. Not staying up late, not eating sweets, and eating a light diet are all impossible.

Having come to terms with it, Luo Xincheng reached out and touched his face, which was as smooth and flawless as she had imagined.

He obediently let her touch him, and after she finished touching his left cheek, he offered his right cheek so she could touch it in turn.

But when she touched her chin, she frowned and showed a dissatisfied expression.

"It's prickly..."

Fu Zhiheng then mischievously rubbed his chin against her palm, deliberately pricking her, and then explained that it was leftover from shaving.

Luo Xincheng pulled her hand back in horror, "Shaving...you actually grow a beard..."

Well, although most of the boys in the class had obvious chin blemishes, she always regarded Fu Zhiheng and the others as two different species.

So when I heard him talk about this, I felt like my worldview was collapsing.

Although it's a normal part of puberty, I can't even imagine what it would be like for him to shave in front of the mirror first thing in the morning...

Luo Xincheng covered his mouth tightly.

"Please don't say things like 'I'm a man, after all!'" she exclaimed, "It's so out of character!"

Fu Zhiheng nodded as if he understood, and after she moved her hand away, he quietly defended himself, "But girls also have hair around their lips, right?"

He suddenly looked down at her, but she was faster. The moment he looked down, she covered the lower half of her face, revealing only a pair of cunning and bright eyes.

"Don't look at me." She blinked and said imperiously, "And don't grow a beard, it's ugly."

"How could it not grow..." He smiled helplessly and could only promise, "Then I'll shave it all off from now on so you won't see it."

"OK?"

...

Recalling this point, Luo Xincheng focused her attention on his chin.

Very good, it's clean and tidy.

As if he had just thought of something, he suddenly spoke up, "You..."

Luo Xincheng: "What?"

He lowered his eyes and cleared his throat lightly. "How many people do you expect to invite to your birthday party?"

"What birthday party..." She looked away, her interest waning. "I don't do those fancy things for my birthday. I usually just have a meal with my family to celebrate."

He said "oh," and after a moment of silence, asked again, "Can I invite you to my birthday party?"

"No," she said half-jokingly, "because I don't want to spend money to buy you a gift."

"No gifts are needed," he quickly replied. "Just your presence is enough."

Luo Xincheng: ...

Could you please not do this all of a sudden?

She pinched her brow and rubbed her temples, looking like she had a headache.

Fu Zhiheng frowned slightly, "Did you get a headache from being out in the cold wind for too long?"

"……no."

If he said yes, he would definitely show that pitiful, self-reproachful expression again.

Luo Xincheng knew without even looking.

She propped her forehead up with her hand, her slender fingers covering most of her cheeks, indicating that she didn't really want to talk to him for the time being.

He realized this and fell into endless reflection, wondering which sentence he had said wrong and made her unhappy.

but……

He took the opportunity to look at her, feeling at a loss, but also finding a unique kind of cuteness in her aloofness.

And, did he see it wrong?

He looked suspiciously at her dangling earrings. If his memory served him right, the gemstones on them were purplish-red when they were in the banquet hall on the first floor.

As if sensing something, she looked up and met his gaze, giving him a disgruntled glare.

What are you looking at me for?

"The gemstones on your earrings..." He didn't want her to misunderstand, and in his anxiety, he blurted everything out, "They were purplish-red at first, but now they've turned green... Did you change your earrings before you went out?"

She stared at his incredulous expression for a moment, then burst into laughter.

She smiled, her shrugged shoulders trembling, and the olive-green gemstones below her ears reflected a dazzling light, swaying ambiguously against her snow-white neck.

"Do you think I have nothing better to do? Do I need to change my earrings just to go out and get you some eye drops?"

Oh, so it wasn't changed.

Fu Zhiheng gazed at her radiant and bright smile, his heart fluttering.

Is it because you think he's ignorant and making a fuss over nothing that you're laughing so happily?

That's fine too.

It can make her laugh.
