Chapter 191 Arrives
"I called the police!"
Fu Yuhua walked out of the crowd, wearing a matcha green trench coat over a satin nightgown that revealed half of her slender, white legs, and disposable hotel slippers on her feet.
Only then did Song Ying notice how travel-worn she looked.
"Yu Hua? What are you doing here?" Song Ying was somewhat surprised to see Fu Yu Hua appear.
Fu Yuhua explained, "I called the police when I heard on the phone that something had happened to you. But you know what kind of people in Nancheng are. If I hadn't told them that the Fu family had caused a murder here, they would have been dragging their feet for who knows how long before they came."
As she said this, Fu Yuhua looked at Captain Sun.
The latter finally realized that something was wrong.
"Oh, so you made a false police report! You're wasting public resources, don't you know that?!"
With a large number of people present, Captain Sun's authority was damaged. Now that he had a chance to vent his anger, he naturally did his best to take all his anger out on Fu Yuhua. As he spoke, he took out handcuffs from his back pocket and was about to take Fu Yuhua, this negative example, away.
"Does that mean a murder case unrelated to the Fu family doesn't count as a murder case?"
Song Ying looked coldly at Captain Sun, pointing at Ah Hu who was still lying on the ground, "My bodyguard was shot in the abdomen by those people and is now in critical condition. Doesn't his life matter? The other party attempted murder and illegally possessed firearms. Can't you tell the difference between what's important and what's not?"
The intense filming had made Song Ying's voice hoarse. When she spoke these words, it sounded as if there was grit grinding in her throat, but her voice was firm and resounding. The crew members who were stunned by what they heard quickly came to their senses and voiced their support for Song Ying.
"That's right! A murder did happen. Instead of arresting the perpetrators, you're blaming the person who called the police. Is there no justice in this world?!"
"There are priorities in everything, and this young lady's actions were entirely expedient and understandable!"
As they spoke, the sound of an ambulance siren grew louder as it approached, finally stopping a short distance away.
Where is the patient?
Nurses in white coats rushed forward, and Song Ying quickly stepped aside. After the medical staff accompanying the crew handed over the situation to the other party, who also carefully examined him, they immediately brought a stretcher to take Ah Hu away.
"Peng Wen, follow them. Ah Hu is in your hands now."
Upon hearing Song Ying's words, Officer Sun immediately stepped forward, "The patient can leave, but everyone else must come with me to the police station to give a statement!"
“I’ll go with you!” Song Ying stepped forward.
"Not just you, but all of you here, without exception, you all have to come back with me!" Officer Sun pointed around the room.
"How can this be allowed? The crew is in a rush to meet the deadline. If everyone goes to the police station, the trending topics will explode tomorrow!"
"Exactly! Doesn't this person even have basic judgment? We only arrived after it happened; what good would it have done to come with us?"
“Officer,” Song Ying said to Officer Sun, “this matter has nothing to do with the film crew. My people can go with you, but don’t drag the film crew into it.”
"Am I the police officer, or are you the police officer?!"
"Of course you are."
Song Ying didn't directly confront Officer Song. The ambulance was still waiting, and it was clear that Peng Wen couldn't leave because of the other party's deliberate obstruction. "Xiao Lu, go to the hospital with Ah Hu. The medical expenses will be paid directly through my account."
"Xiao Qiong, you go too!" Fu Yuhua gave Xiao Qiong a push, saying that more people would help each other.
Before Officer Sun could say anything, Song Ying interrupted him, "Captain Zhang just stepped down, Captain Sun, haven't you even warmed your seat yet? What, are you planning to spend a day in the captain's chair? Besides, how can you be so sure these people have nothing to do with the Fu family—looking at the entire South City, besides the Fu family, whose people would dare to carry guns and act so violently?"
Captain Sun's face turned pale instantly.
That's right.
Apart from the Fu family, no one dares to do this...
So, those people were really sent by the Fu family? And the woman who called the police accidentally reported the truth?
"Director Fang, I probably won't be able to film tonight's scenes. I'll try my best to be back on time tomorrow morning. You can film the other parts first. I'm really sorry for delaying the schedule."
"What are you talking about..." Director Fang is a workaholic, but he's not a miser. After such a big incident, how could he possibly ask Song Ying to start filming right now?
However, he had only spoken halfway when he saw Song Ying's look, which told him to take the rest of the crew and leave first, so as not to waste any more time here and get involved.
"Come on, come on, let's film! Stop standing around watching!"
"I haven't told you to leave yet..."
"Captain Sun!"
Song Ying looked at him and said, "I don't have much patience, and I don't want to say the same thing twice."
Remembering Zhang Songbai's ordeal, Captain Sun finally chickened out. "Fall back! Take these eight, no, these nine men back to the station!"
The four thugs, along with Peng Wen and three bodyguards, plus Song Ying and Fu Yuhua, couldn't fit in two police cars. In the end, they had to use Song Ying's own nanny van to transport them all in one trip.
Perhaps having learned from Zhang Songbai's experience last time, Captain Sun was much more cautious this time. When taking Song Ying's statement, he specifically asked a female police officer to check whether she had any recording or live-streaming equipment.
"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Captain Sun, are you being so cautious because you have something to hide?"
Song Ying made no attempt to hide her sarcasm.
The government system in Nancheng is completely rotten from top to bottom.
Putting aside distant examples, just consider her two experiences at the police station. In Beijing, you would never see a situation where the victim is the one being guarded against and threatened.
The mountains south of the city are high and the emperor is far away, so the Fu family has absolute power here, but they have forgotten that the Qing Dynasty has long since died.
Such blatant collusion between officials and businessmen is doomed to fail sooner or later, and it's time to start the anti-corruption campaign.
After completing her statement step by step, Song Ying couldn't leave early because she had to wait for everyone else to finish their questions. So she could only sit on a bench in the police station lobby and wait.
Because I came from the film set, I only had an autumn jacket, and underneath I was still wearing my summer costume. In the autumn night, the bench was cold and bone-chilling.
Fu Yuhua wasn't much better off.
The two looked at each other and suddenly burst out laughing.
“Everyone else is eating, drinking, and having fun together, but we’re going to jail together.” After a moment, Song Ying stopped laughing and shook her head. “You’re in a difficult situation in Nancheng, there’s really no need for you to get involved.”
"I'm not afraid of itching when I have too many lice. Besides, no matter how difficult things get, I still have the blood of the Fu family flowing through my veins. Do you think Fu Yushu would eat me alive?" Fu Yuhua said indifferently. "Not to mention, you were targeted by the Fu family because of me. If something happens to you, would it be right for me to hide in a corner and pretend to be dead? If you really consider me a sister, then don't say such things."
At this point, Fu Yuhua yawned and stood up. "I'm so sleepy. You rest first. I'm going to the bathroom. I've been holding it in since I arrived, but I haven't had a chance to go."
The bathroom on the first floor was in the courtyard. After Fu Yuhua left the hall, Song Ying was left alone on the large bench.
Peng Wen and the others didn't know what was going on. After giving their statements the first time, they were called in again for a second time, supposedly to confront the perpetrators.
Song Ying couldn't help but yawn, and perhaps because she was too tired, tears of exhaustion welled up in the corners of her eyes.
With her vision blurring, Song Ying simply tilted her head back and leaned against the wall behind the bench.
He yawned again, and in his blurry vision, a familiar figure appeared.
"I was so sleepy, and I actually saw Ashu in the South City..."
Song Ying shook her head speechlessly and changed her position to take a nap, but a shadow fell over her head. Then, the figure disappeared, and someone squatted down in front of her and reached out to touch her head.
"You'll catch a cold sleeping here."
