Chapter 26 The Adams Girl

Chapter 26 The Adams Girl

Haley's friend is a young girl.

She has big, bright eyes, a high nose bridge, clear lip lines, and when she smiles, the corners of her mouth slightly rise, revealing shallow dimples.

She has fair skin, a clear-cut face, and short, thick, obedient platinum hair.

She looks a bit like Audrey Hepburn, but sharper.

"Peggy Audrey Adams. She's still at Harvard, eighteen years old. We've known each other since we were kids and are very good friends. She's my godfather's daughter, so she's also my sister."

Hayley smiled as she introduced her to Milo.

"Hello. Peggy, nice to meet you."

Milo followed etiquette, smiled, and kissed Peggy's hand instead of the cheek.

This is because the two have just met and Peggy is not married yet.

"My name is Milo Herbert Blackburn, nice to meet you."

"Hello, Mr. Blackburn, nice to meet you."

Paige responded with a smile that seemed welcoming yet distant.

Haley frowned beside her.

Milo withdrew his hand and looked at the two of them with a smile, "You want to watch the filming? That's great, I still have some work left. I can let you see something strange."

“Work is what matters most when you’re working.”

Hailey smiled, "We'll just be watching from the side. We definitely won't bother you."

Milo gave her an OK sign, smiled and turned back to talk, mobilize the crew, and continue working.

As he turned around, Haley's expression turned slightly cold.

She said to the girl with short blond hair beside her: "Peggy, I know what you are thinking. But it's useless!"

"Of course you can say that, my dear Haley. It's because your husband is a Paladin!" the short-haired girl retorted in a low voice.

"Then why did you come? You could have chosen not to come to Los Angeles."

Hailey looked at the young man not far away who easily mobilized a group of people to film. She said, "You dare not not come, right?"

Peggy was speechless.

"Honestly, if you weren't my godfather's daughter, I wouldn't even bring you here. God knows how busy I am!"

Seeing that she didn't speak, Hailey continued, "Put away your useless fantasies. We have never been able to resist."

Peggy listened to her words, her eyes also looking at the handsome and tall young man not far away, "But, Haley... you don't know, I just asked around a little. His "glorious deeds" almost filled my mind..."

"And then?" Hailey sneered, "Like I said before, why did you come here?"

Once again, Paige was speechless.

Spoiled, brainless kid.

Hayley commented.

The filming was finished and the crew started to pack up.

Milo came over and said with a smile, "It's actually different from what's shown on TV and in movies. It's not so glamorous, and sometimes even boring."

"But I found that you are very skilled. It's like you were born with it."

Hailey made an exaggerated expression and smiled charmingly, "I originally thought you were just putting your name on it."

"If I say someone taught me in a dream, I don't know if you would believe me."

Haley's charming smile froze as she thought of the phone call she had two days ago.

The brother-in-law said to himself.

He was able to write novels and direct movies because in his dreams, Paladin, who had turned into an angel, taught him...

"Is this the gospel you heard?" Peggy asked suddenly.

Milo turned to her and smiled again. “I don’t know if that was the voice of God. But after I copied them out, I found that people really liked reading them. Well, my general manager told me this morning that the sales of my novel have exceeded two million copies.”

"Well, it's really wonderful." Haley recovered and said with a smile: "I have finished reading it and read it twice. I have a colleague who has even read it four times and is reading it for the fifth time. She is a devout Christian and she told me that you must have really heard the voice of God to be able to write such a novel."

"I'm glad you like her so much."

"After she knew about our relationship, she begged me to ask you to sign for her, preferably directly on the novel."

"I'd love to."

Wendy rushed over and the fat man brought the business car from Milo's villa.

Milo arrived in a sports car in the morning.

Haley and Paige got in the car together and sat in the back.

Milo sat in the passenger seat, and Jones originally wanted to drive.

But Milo told him to go with Wendy and let David drive.

The convoy set off, heading for the InterContinental Hotel at the foot of Beverly Hills.

It turned out that Paige and Haley had already booked an executive suite there.

On the passenger side, through the rearview mirror.

The latest novel is published first on Liu9shuba!

Milo watched as Haley untied her hair, letting it fall down like a cloud, then she pulled it back behind her forehead and tied it up again, revealing her flawless face.

“In Los Angeles, it’s better to live in Beverly Hills. You can overlook the entire Hollywood and most of downtown Los Angeles at night.”

Milo: "I have a villa in the mountains, Haley, you know, Paladin gave it to me. You don't have to stay in a hotel..."

"No, I'm leaving tomorrow."

Hailey smiled and said, "It will be more convenient to stay in a hotel and catch a flight tomorrow morning."

"Oh, okay. You're right."

Peggy listened to the conversation between her uncle and sister-in-law, and couldn't help but look at Haley beside her.

Haley was dressed simply, with a sweet and quiet face and no makeup on. She was smiling, but her elegant temperament could not be concealed.

Paige thought: Haley seems to have a good relationship with him. But according to rumors, isn't he also hated by everyone in his family? It is said that only Paladin doesn't hate him... Maybe Haley loves him and loves his family too?

“When will the movie be finished?”

"Early December, maybe. Three months in total, that's pretty fast."

"You must come home for Christmas. You didn't come home last Christmas."

"I know. I've already sworn that I'll spend Christmas at home from now on."

Peggy noticed that after Milo said this.

The uncle and sister-in-law, who were chatting happily, suddenly fell silent.

What she didn't know was that the oath Milo made was the one Paladin made to his brother before his death.

Last Christmas, Milo had a great time in Los Angeles and didn't go home.

It was also the first time in many years that he spent Christmas outside.

On Christmas Eve, Paladin called and scolded his brother.

Also at midnight that day, Paladin was awakened from his sleep by a headache.

Paladin was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night, where he was first diagnosed with a stroke and later with brain cancer.

Hollywood Racecourse, not far from the InterContinental Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The convoy soon arrived at the hotel entrance.

After the car stopped, Milo was about to get out and open the door for the two ladies in the back.

Haley suddenly said, "I'm a little tired, I'll go upstairs and rest first. Milo, this is Paige's first time in Los Angeles, you can take her for a walk. Be careful not to go to the city center, it's very chaotic there."

"Haley, I..." Paige started to speak.

But the rest of his words were repelled by Haley's eyes.

Milo shrugged and said, "Okay, no need to go downtown. Beverly Hills has a great night view at night."

Haley smiled and nodded at him, and got out of the car as soon as the door opened.
