Chapter 107 The Complexities of Chicago Politics

The first thing Jerry did when he returned to office was to call Reebok.

"Hey! Reeves! I've been reinstated!" Jerry said excitedly.

"Great, Chief Jerry!"

Ribs was also very happy to hear the news: "Just arrange it, Director. What do you need me to do next?"

"Well, the bureau wants me to be the director of the Anti-Drug Division to take control of all the Chicago gangs," Jerry said. "I think the gangs on the list have some serious backgrounds. Let's get to the bottom of the congressman's assassination first!"

"Okay! No problem!" Reeves agreed, "I'll go interrogate Frank right away and make him tell us everything he knows!"

"Okay!" Jerry said, "But this must be kept secret and no one else can know! We can't alert the enemy!"

Ribs replied, "Okay! I understand. Don't worry, Chief!"

"Oh, right! Do you remember Sheriff Duke from the police station? I suspect that it was Duke who leaked the information to Frank when the police arrested him last time. Let's get to the bottom of this too!"

"Okay! I understand!" Reeves said and hung up the phone.

There are too many things to ask this time, related to his own identity and the assassination case of the congressman.

Therefore, Ribbs did not bring anyone else with him, but went to the basement alone.

Frank had been locked up in the dark and damp basement for a month and had lost all his energy. Seeing Reeves come in, he couldn't wait to ask:

"Reeves! I heard that you have already annexed the Hell's Angels and you are already the boss of Inglewood! Why are you still locking me up? What do you want to do?"

"Don't worry, Mr. Frank!" said Ribbs. "Things have to be dealt with one by one. I'm here to settle the score with you!"

"Settling the score after the game? What do you mean?" Frank asked with his eyes wide open.

"Don't worry, I'll ask you one by one, and you can answer them one by one."

Ribbs found a chair, sat across from him, and said, "Frank! I won't punish you today. I hope you'll answer my questions honestly. Don't force me to do it. Once I do, the situation will be difficult to clean up. Do you understand?"

Frank thought that Reeves was going to ask about something related to the Hell's Angels. Anyway, the gang was gone now, so there was nothing to keep secret.

He immediately agreed: "Okay! Ask anything you want, I'll tell you everything I know."

"good!"

Libus agreed and asked solemnly, "When Police Chief Jerry led the team to raid your machine repair shop, did you receive the information in advance? Who provided it to you?"

Frank noticed something was wrong with this first question.

He snorted coldly and said, "Ribus, I knew you were working with Jerry! As the boss of the Black Rabbit Gang, you actually helped the police chief investigate things!"

Ribs said, "I hope you won't talk nonsense. Have you forgotten the consequences of your nonsense last time?"

Frank immediately thought of the last time he was tied to a chair. Every time he spoke nonsense, he was beaten, and in the end his whole face was swollen like a pig's head.

His attitude immediately changed, and he answered seriously, "Yes, last time it was Sheriff Duke from the police station who leaked the information to me in advance."

"Well, go on. Why did Sheriff Duke reveal the information to you? How much money did you give him? How did you give it to him? Tell me in detail!"

Frank replied, "I didn't pay him... Duke approached me and said he wanted to work with us, even without any money..."

"I'm going to help your gang without paying you? Do you think I'm a three-year-old kid? You want me to beat you up, right?" Reeves said sternly.

"This... this is true! I wanted to give him money, but he refused, saying police officers never accept bribes..." Frank said, "Sheriff Duke said he helped us because he didn't want to see Jerry rise to prominence..."

This reason sounded quite real and didn't seem made up, so Reeves nodded.

Frank was relieved when he saw that Ribbs didn't ask any further questions.

"So, next question!"

Ribs continued to ask, "What happened to that Hawkeye Luca from your gang who used a sniper rifle to assassinate the congressman?"

Hearing this question, Frank suddenly lost his composure. He stammered, "...How do you know this?"

Reeves immediately became impatient. He stood up, unbuckled his belt, and pretended to hit Frank.

"No, no, no! Don't hit me!" Frank raised his arms to cover his face in fear.

"I think you're itching for trouble! Hurry up and tell me!" Ribs cursed.

"That congressman's name is Sebastian!" Frank said. "When Blair said he wanted someone to kill Sebastian, I took the job and assigned Luca to do it."

"Congressman Sebastian?" Reeves asked. "Then why did Blair want to kill Sebastian? Aren't they both Democrats?"

"Hey, you don't understand!" Frank said, suddenly feeling proud. "Even if we're from the same party, we're not a monolithic group!"

Hearing Frank's tone, Reeves also became interested: "So, you know a lot about this?"

"Well, I don't really understand much! I often drink and eat with the congressmen, so I guess I know a thing or two!" Frank said deliberately modestly.

"That's enough! Stop pretending! Just tell me!" Reeves waved the belt in his hand, "Don't force me to beat you!"

"Okay, okay! Let me give you a little background on Chicago politics!" Frank said, "You know there are seven members of the Chicago City Council and one speaker, right?"
