Ribs entered through the back door of the Black Rabbit Casino and went straight to the backstage.
The butcher in charge of the casino naturally greeted him warmly: "Hey! Boss, what have you been busy with recently? You haven't come to see me for so long!"
"I've been very busy lately!" Ribs replied. "Ao Guanhai is dealing with the Latin King Gang, and I'm busy running for councillor. I have to lead our Black Rabbit Gang to glory!"
"Brother, your decision to run for council is absolutely right!" said the butcher. "There's no end to this fighting and killing. Sooner or later, our Black Rabbit Gang will have to walk the righteous path!"
"Oh! I didn't expect this, Butcher! After managing the casino for a month, your ideological awareness has improved a lot!" Ribs praised.
"Of course, we have to make some progress too!"
"Not bad!" Ribs said, "Bring the account book over here! Let me see how the Black Rabbit Casino you manage is doing!"
The butcher handed the account book to Reeves and said, "Brother, I just realized how profitable this casino is! In the first month, our income has already reached more than half of our previous gang's income!"
"Oh? Is it really that amazing?"
Ribs checked the account book and nodded repeatedly: "Well, not bad! This income is indeed good!"
But after seeing the casino's net profit at the last item in the account book, Ribs became uneasy.
"Fuck! Only $800,000 profit a month? That's called making money! Butcher, your appetite is too small!"
"Although the net profit is only 800,000, look at the gross profit!" The butcher held up five fingers and said, "The gross profit is nearly 5 million!"
Ribs looked puzzled: "The difference between your gross profit and net profit is too big, isn't it? What's going on?"
"Brother, don't you know?" the butcher said, "This is how casinos earn! We have to pay federal taxes, Illinois state taxes, and a special tax on the gaming industry. A total of 75% in taxes."
"What? 75% tax?"
Reeves was stunned. "Paying 75% tax! This is simply working for the American government! Why not just rob? No! We can't just give all the money to the Chicago City Government for nothing!"
The butcher said, "There's nothing we can do about it! We're a legitimate casino. We can't operate without paying taxes! We also have to launder money! All the gang's money was laundered from the casino last month."
Reeves nodded helplessly, immediately stood up and said, "I'll take care of it! Just run the casino well, don't worry about it!"
After leaving the casino, Ribbs went directly to the City Hall to find Blair.
Now that Reeves is running for councillor, he is considered a positive figure in the Inglewood district, so there is no need to be shy about meeting Blair.
"Oh! Aren't you busy running for council? How do you have time to come to me?" Blair asked as soon as he saw Ribs.
Ribs sat on the sofa and replied: "I came to see you, of course I have something to do!"
When Blair heard that Ribbs wanted him to do something again, his face immediately turned gloomy.
Libus quickly explained: "Don't be afraid! I'm doing serious things and won't make things difficult for you!"
Blair then replied, "Tell me, what's the matter?"
"Did you know that our Black Rabbit Casino has to pay a 75% tax?"
"Of course I know," Blair said. "Casinos are a special industry, and that's what the law stipulates. There's nothing wrong with it."
"I know that's the law, but... can't you find someone you know and pay less tax? 75% is too much!"
"Wang Defake? What are you thinking!?"
Blair raised his hands and said, "Reeves, I'm warning you! We don't have enough police here, so it's okay if you do something illegal, but if you evade taxes, you'll definitely die miserably! The federal tax police are not short of money! They will do whatever it takes to get you!"
The United States' tax department, the IRS, is indeed notorious. Throughout history, many gang leaders (such as Al Capone) were convicted of "tax evasion" rather than violent crimes.
Reeves lowered his head helplessly and said, "Okay, okay! I can't afford to offend the federal and state tax police, but I can at least exempt myself from the special tax on the gambling industry, right? Isn't this tax under the jurisdiction of the Gaming Commission?"
"It's no use, Ribs," Blair said, shaking his head. "There's no point asking anyone for help with taxes. You have to figure it out on your own."
Blair's words reminded Reeves that there were so many ways to evade taxes, so why not just think of a way himself? The more he asked others for help, the more trouble he would get into!
"Okay, I understand!"
Reeves waved his hand, stood up and left the city hall.
Speaking of tax evasion, Frank is the one who comes to the rescue again! Not killing him then seems like a wise move now.
Back at the Black Rabbit Gang's lair, Ribs immediately pulled Frank out again.
This time, Frank seemed to have guessed something: "Brother, you're seeing me again! What's the matter this time?"
"Don't be so slick, kid! I'm asking you something, answer honestly!"
Frank immediately said, "Okay! I'll answer honestly. I'm just worried you won't ask me, brother!"
Ribbs said, "Last time you said opening a casino would make it easy to launder money, so we opened one. However, the tax rate on this casino is too high. All the money we earn goes to the federal government!"
"That's easy!" Frank grinned and said, "Why don't you just donate all your profits to the foundation? American law stipulates that donations are tax-free, saving you 100% in taxes!"
Ribbs asked, "Donate to the foundation? And then what?"
Frank replied, "You set up a Black Rabbit Charity Foundation. It's like transferring money from one hand to the other. When you want to spend money, just take it out of the foundation! You only need to donate 5% every year, and you can also create an image of yourself as a philanthropist! That's what wealthy people do."
