Eugene was roughly escorted by several tall and strong special police officers and pushed through the tightly guarded courtyards and corridors in the manor.
Finally, he was taken to a luxurious yet cold and solemn study.
In the study, Harold slumped in his high-backed chair like a frightened eagle pretending to be majestic. His hands gripped the armrests tightly, his knuckles turning white, and his once well-maintained face was covered with bloodshot eyes of fatigue and lingering fear.
The SWAT officer escorting Eugene pushed him forward and reported in a stern voice, "Sir! The man is here! He said he has important information!"
Harold looked at Eugene with a scrutinizing gaze.
He recognized this as one of the core members of Black Rabbit Security and Reeves' right-hand man in New York.
"Eugene..." Harold asked suspiciously, "Reeves' right-hand man... The headquarters in Chicago is now a scorched earth, and your accomplices are hiding like rats. So you... chose to 'join' me?"
Eugene immediately lowered his head, his body trembling uncontrollably, his voice filled with panic and a desire to survive: "Mr. Harold! Yes! I'm Eugene! But I'm not here to die, I'm here to live!"
He suddenly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot, the madness of being driven to despair, "Black Rabbit is finished! Completely finished! That madman Ribus! He is a complete lunatic who is leading everyone into the hell!"
Eugene's emotions were boiling. "The casino was shut down, the accounts were frozen, and the brothers were like headless flies! He killed the governor and Eberhart, then just walked away! Who does he think he is? A god of war? He doesn't care about us brothers who have been with him through thick and thin! All he has on his mind is fucking revenge! He's ruined us all! Now the cops all over New York are hunting us like rats!"
Eugene took a step forward, but was pinned down by the SWAT officers. He struggled and yelled at Harold, "Mr. Harold! I don't want to die! I don't want to be shot to death in a stinking ditch like a stray dog! I've had enough! I've seen through it all! Following Reeves is a dead end!"
Harold stared at Eugene's face, trying to find any flaws in his expression, eyes, and subtle movements.
The accusation was heartfelt, the fear and anger not seeming fake.
Especially when it was mentioned that Reeves "led everyone into the fire pit" and "didn't care about his brothers at all", it really seemed like the betrayal that a minion who was desperate, abandoned by his master and facing despair might have.
But Harold's wariness was not completely eliminated.
Ribs is a devil, who knows if this is another of his evil schemes?
"So you've come to me for help?" Harold leaned forward slightly, a gleam in his cloudy eyes. "Do you think I'll believe the sudden realization of a Ribbs confidant? Do you think a few random accusations can clear you of everything you've done for that madman? Or buy you a way to live?" He slammed the table. "Eugene! Your loyalty doesn't seem worth much!"
"I know! I know you doubt me!" Eugene's voice was filled with a desperate determination. "So I didn't come here empty-handed! I came with a 'pledge of allegiance'! I will personally chop off Ribbs's head and present it to you! In exchange for my life!"
"Pledge of allegiance?" Harold frowned suddenly and his body stiffened. "Reeves's... head?" His voice was dry.
"That's right!" Eugene's eyes gleamed. "That lunatic contacted me! This afternoon! An anonymous call, with a specific location and time—tomorrow night at 10 p.m., at the Clouds restaurant on the top floor of the Skydome building!"
Harold's pupils suddenly contracted! "Cloud" Restaurant? It's one of New York's landmarks! Of course he knew it!
"What did he say?!" Harold's voice was filled with urgency and disbelief.
"He said..." Eugene lowered his voice, creating a sneaky and dangerous atmosphere, "The storm is not over yet, and New York needs to be cleansed. Tomorrow night, come with sincerity to prove that you have not betrayed your Speaker..."
Eugene's expression became twisted and sinister: "He wants to use me to make another big move... Maybe his target is you!"
As soon as Harold heard this, he broke out in a cold sweat.
Eugene also noticed this and changed the subject, "But don't worry! This is my chance to kill him! Tomorrow I'll pretend to meet up with him and wait for him to let his guard down... It only takes a second! Just a second! I can blow his head off!"
This plan sounds perfect and tempting!
Let Eugene, the "former confidant", take action, and the success rate is extremely high!
But his years of experience made him still maintain a final vigilance: "'Cloud' restaurant? He really dares to choose that place? There are too many people and security..."
"More people, more eyes!" Eugene interrupted him eagerly, as if trying to persuade him, "You know! He needs a safe environment before he comes!"
Seeing the flame of greed burning in Harold's eyes, Eugene immediately added the final and most crucial blow: "Mr. Harold! The Cloud Restaurant is on the top floor of the Skydome Building, right? And directly across from it, across the block, is the Morgan Building!"
"All you have to do is take a helicopter. The view from there is excellent! With a high-powered telescope, you can clearly see the other side!" Eugene said excitedly, "You can see it with your own eyes! Watch that devil Reeves... get shot in the head by me!!"
Eugene's voice was like the devil's whisper, accurately stirring up Harold's darkest desire - "to confirm the death of his enemy with his own eyes"!
The fear brought by the photo of Morgan and Eberhart with their eyes open was instantly transformed into the ultimate pleasure of "witnessing Reebs' tragic death"!
