New York Skydome, "In the Clouds" restaurant.
There were a few sparsely occupied tables of guests in the hall.
Ribs sat in a booth by the window, his back to the entrance. He wore a hat pulled low, drank water quietly, and gazed out the window at the magnificent night view.
After a while, Eugene appeared and walked to the booth under the guidance of the waiter.
Sitting back, Eugene's eyes quickly swept over Liebs, then looked out the window: "The weather is really nice today... The sign of the Morgan Building on the other side is dazzling, and the flock of pigeons on the top floor have finally found a safe haven."
This abrupt sentence, which had nothing to do with the environment, made Ribs alert instantly.
Ribbs' muscles tensed imperceptibly for a moment, then quickly relaxed.
He put down the glass and tapped the edge of the glass twice with his fingers, without any extra words or changes in expression, as if he was just feeling the coolness of the glass wall.
Eugene put his hands on the table, leaned forward slightly, and deliberately lowered his voice: "Boss... You really shouldn't have come to New York! There are dogs everywhere outside, and the streets are full of cops smelling the scent! You killed the governor and Eberhart, there is no way they will let you go! Listen to me, there is still a chance to leave now! Hide..."
His voice was rapid and anxious, with a sense of urgency to "do this for the boss's own good."
But in between words, his eyes swept across the two plainclothes bodyguards at the entrance (people sent by Harold to "escort" and monitor him) and the possible ambushes in several corners of the restaurant, and he raised his eyebrows at Reeves subtly.
Reeves remained expressionless, simply raising his eyelids. Their gazes met briefly in mid-air, a fleeting moment.
That's enough.
This exchange of glances conveyed the final, definitive signal: surveillance was everywhere and the target had been locked.
In the next heartbeat after their eyes met, murderous intent suddenly erupted in Eugene's eyes!
Without warning, his right hand shot up like lightning! A small pistol hidden in his sleeve instantly pointed at Reeves' face! The movement was so fast that only a shadow was left!
"Die, idiot!" Eugene used all his strength, as if he really wanted to kill Ribs!
Bang!!!
Gunshots rang out in the quiet restaurant!
The bullet was not aimed at the center of the eyebrows. With Eugene's deliberate wrist adjustment, the bullet grazed Ribbs' right cheekbone at an extremely dangerous angle!
Almost at the same time as the gunshot, Ribs' body suddenly bounced back in the booth! As if he was hit on the head by a huge impact force.
He uttered a short, painful groan, and his entire upper body collapsed heavily onto the back of the booth at the side. Before he fell, his right arm seemed to instinctively cover the "wound" on the side of his face.
Blood!
The moment Reeves fell, crimson, sticky blood gushed out from between his fingers as he covered his face, quickly staining the shoulders of his worn jacket and the expensive off-white velvet of the booth! It was quite a large amount!
"ah--!!"
“Murder!!”
After a brief moment of silence, screams of terror suddenly erupted in the restaurant!
The diners were scrambling away from their seats, desperately running towards the emergency exits, leaving the place in a state of chaos. Several waiters were left standing there in shock.
Eugene maintained his shooting stance, panting heavily, and growled to the plainclothes bodyguard not far away: "Did you see that? He's dead! Mission accomplished! Report to the boss!"
At the same time, on the helipad on the top floor of the Morgan Building opposite the window.
"Yes! Yes!! He's dead! He's dead!!" Harold suddenly jumped up from his comfortable viewing chair, his whole body shaking with excitement. The high-powered binoculars in his hand fell to the cold floor with a clang! He had no intention of picking it up.
Through the high-powered telescope, he clearly saw the thrilling drawing of the gun, the flash from the muzzle, the movement of Reeves leaning back and covering his face after being shot in the head, and the blood flowing quickly down his neck, which was almost indistinguishable from the real thing.
Especially the large bloodstain that spread rapidly on the back of the booth was even more shocking in the camera!
"Oh my God! Eugene did it! He really did it! Reeves! You devil! You're finally dead!!" Harold danced with joy, the wrinkles on his face distorted with ecstasy. He screamed in a distorted voice to the assistant and security director beside him: "Helicopter! Quick! Prepare my helicopter! Now! Fly over here immediately!"
He was so impatient that he couldn't wait even a second! He wanted to personally load Reeves' body onto a helicopter, drag it to the high seas off Long Island, and throw it into the sea to feed the sharks!
"Boss! Please think twice! Wait until our people have complete control of the scene..." The security director tried to stop him, but his professional ethics told him that things might not be that simple.
"Get out of here!" Harold pushed him away, his eyes bloodshot. "He's dead! I saw him get shot in the head with my own eyes! The blood gushed out like a fountain! Oh my God! Eugene did a great job! Hurry! It will be too late if you delay any longer! I have to deal with that garbage myself right now! Right now!"
He practically threw himself at the helicopter next to him. Before the hatch was even closed, Harold roared at the pilot, "Get to the opposite helipad! Now! As fast as you can!"
The huge Bell 429 helicopter roared and took off, carrying the impatient Harold and his two bodyguards. It crossed a block in less than two minutes and landed on the spare helipad on the top floor of the "Skydome".
Harold jumped down without waiting for the ladder to be lowered, followed closely by his two bodyguards.
The entire restaurant area had been cleared, leaving only Eugene, several frightened Harold bodyguards, and Reeves, who was lying face up in a booth with "blood" on his chest and seemed to be dead.
