Chapter 20: Trip to the County

Soon, the moon moved westward and morning arrived.

Fu Xiao slept well that night. He opened his eyes when he heard the roosters crowing outside. He saw that it was already bright outside. He got out of the warm bed and put on his clothes.

When she walked out of the room, she saw Grandpa Fu practicing boxing in the front yard. When he saw her coming, he said to her with a smile on his face, "Xiaoxiao, get up. Your aunt has cooked eggs for you in the kitchen. Go and have some."

While talking to her, his hands and feet did not stop moving.

Seeing that he was practicing very hard, she did not disturb him. She went to the kitchen to get a boiled egg, and while eating, she walked towards the backyard where there was some noise. There was a chicken coop against the wall in the backyard, and her aunt Li Xiufen was busy feeding the chickens.

She stuffed the last bite of egg yolk into her mouth, walked forward, threw the egg shell in, and asked with a smile: "Aunt, am I late for getting up?"

Li Xiufen smiled and said to her, "No, your second brother is still asleep. He is not going to work today. Most people in the village are still asleep."

Fu Xiao exclaimed, "Second brother hasn't woken up yet, what about eldest brother?"

Li Xiufen: "Your elder brother gets up early, so he must be reading at this time."

She said "oh" and said nothing more. She found it interesting to watch her aunt feeding the chickens, so she took the chicken feed from her hand and scattered handfuls of it in the chicken coop.

Seeing that she was having fun, Li Xiufen didn't care about it anymore. She first went to the master bedroom to wake up Fu Kai, then walked to the door of the Fu Yu brother's room, opened the door without even knocking, and walked straight to the edge of the pit and slapped Fu Hong.

"Snap"

After waking him up, he turned to his eldest son who was reading at the desk and said, "Big brother, have you had breakfast?"

Fu Yu raised his head from the book and looked at her, "Mom, I've eaten, you go and get busy."

Li Xiufen nodded gently, "Big brother, read after you return to school, and relax at home." She glanced at Fu Hong who had already put on his clothes and said to the two of them, "My sister just arrived, you two should take her around the village and get familiar with her."

Fu Yu: "Don't worry, Mom, I get it."

Fu Hong also nodded to show that he understood.

After Li Xiufen left, Fu Hong curled his lips, glanced at his elder brother who was immersed in the book again, stretched, yawned, and walked out of the room.

When she walked to the backyard, she saw Fu Xiao squatting next to the chicken coop. She tiptoed closer to her, squatted beside her and asked with a smile, "Sister, what are you doing?"

Fu Xiao stretched out a finger and put it to his mouth.

"Shh..."

She motioned him to stop talking and pointed at the hen in the chicken coop. Fu Hong looked in the direction of her finger and saw only a hen sitting on its nest. He smiled helplessly and said, "What's so interesting about a hen laying eggs?"

There is really nothing to see when a hen lays eggs, but this hen is different. Just now, on a whim, she fed the hen some spiritual spring water. After drinking it, the chicken immediately went into the chicken coop. She was just a little curious and wanted to observe what changes would occur in the hen after drinking the spiritual spring water.

Of course I couldn't tell him this, so I could only ignore him and just stare at the hen.

"What a child." Fu Hong shook his head, stood up and walked into the kitchen, ate the remaining eggs in the pot, and followed Grandpa Fu in the front yard to practice boxing in a very serious manner.

After a while, Fu Xiao ran to the front yard with a look of surprise and said to Li Xiufen who was busy in the kitchen: "Aunt, a hen laid two eggs at once..."

Li Xiufen was also very happy when she heard this. In this day and age, the number of chickens raised is limited. Her family has three hens in total, and the eggs they lay are kept for their own consumption. Of course, the more the better.

Fu Hong, who was practicing boxing, was a little puzzled. Is it worth being happy if a chicken lays two eggs at a time?

Although he had doubts, he was not stupid and would not ask such questions. If he asked, he would definitely be beaten again.

Fu Xiao was very satisfied with the experimental results. It seemed that the spiritual spring water was not only effective for plants, but also had obvious effects on animals. She had always wanted to improve the conditions at home, but she had never had the chance to take out the things in her space. Now, all the hens at home would be fed with spiritual spring water in the future, so that at least the supply of eggs at home could be guaranteed.

As for other things, I still have to go to the county town to have a chance to get them out.

Seeing Grandpa Fu finishing his boxing, she got a cup of hot water from inside the house, put a few drops of spiritual spring water in it and handed it to him, "Grandpa, I want to buy a small bottle for pills. Do you know where you can buy it?"

Grandpa Fu wiped the sweat from his activity, and after a moment of silence, he said, "We don't have this thing in the village. I guess we have to go to the county to find it." He lowered his head and drank a sip of water, then asked, "My dear grandson, are you in a hurry to use it?"

She nodded and said, "Grandpa, I have to send the medicine to my second uncle after it's ready."

"Your third uncle went to work in the county early in the morning," Grandpa Fu thought for a moment and said, "How about this, let your two brothers accompany you to the county."

Li Xiufen came over after hearing this and said, "Xiaoxiao, are you going to the county? It's just right, let your two brothers accompany you and have a good walk around the county."

There is only one cow in the village, which is taken care of by Uncle Song, a poor family in the village. On days when Uncle Song is not working, he will pull the ox cart to take the villagers to the county to buy things, but he will charge a fee.

To get from the village to the county, rich people would wait to ride on ox carts, which cost one cent each time. They would set out at nine o'clock, take about half an hour, and return to the village at four in the afternoon.

If you want to save money by walking, you should set out before dawn. It will take about two hours even if you are a fast walker.

Of course, it would be faster if you had a bicycle at home. However, in that era, bicycles were hard to buy. Not only were they expensive, but you also needed a bicycle ticket. In the entire village, only the team leader's family had a bicycle, and the ticket was issued by Secretary Fu's unit.
