Chapter 2 Abyss Dangerous Creatures Compendium This is a Destiny-level Magical Tool [Abyss...]

The embrace lasted quietly for a while until Xia Ying pulled her head out of the other person's arms and broke the silence in the room with her voice.

"I think I'm getting a little hungry again, Kelp."

"Didn't those damn humans give you anything to eat?!"

Although the cook was a bit rough, the aroma of the soup noodles was truly tempting. Xia Ying took a bite and couldn't help but say with emotion, "Our dog's four dishes and soup are even better than McDonald's."

The cook immediately flew into a rage: "Who's your dog?"

"Huh? Isn't it a dog?" Xia Ying gestured with her hands. "The day I found you, you were about this big, your tail looked like this, your ears looked like this, and your muzzle looked like..."

Seeing Xia Ying about to shape a cylinder with her palm...

Shadows enveloped Cerberus, and his appearance and size immediately changed, transforming him from a human into a jet-black fiery hound.

"Aren't they all the same?"

Xia Ying lunged forward with practiced ease, grabbed the Abyss Demon Hound by the neck, and rolled into its soft black fur.

"Ker, you smell like a cotton quilt."

"That's the breath of hell!" the big dog barked in vain, trying to defend its last shred of dignity. "Get off my back! Don't touch my head! Not my chin!"

Even so, the struggles of the Fiery Hellhound gradually weakened. When Cerberus couldn't help but let out a comfortable purr, it realized that it had fallen backward to the ground, letting Xia Ying stroke its furry belly!

That was close! I almost fell into depravity. How terrifying humans are!

Xia Ying was enjoying petting the dog when the black mist suddenly surged up again, instantly destroying the dry, soft feel of the fur. A human hand grabbed Xia Ying's wrist and tossed her back into her seat.

The humanoid Cerberus sat down on the other side of the table with his arms crossed, glaring fiercely at the girl in front of him: "Aren't you hungry? Eat your noodles first."

Xia Ying nodded, picked up her chopsticks, and obediently ate her noodles.

The room returned to silence, with only the faint sounds of eating and the ticking of the clock.

“Carved ear”.

"ah?"

"You have been in the human world for five years."

"So what?"

"That means we've been living together for five years." Xia Ying paused slightly with her chopsticks. "How long did you stay in the Demon Realm before you met me?"

“…a long time.” Cerberus turned his head away, his expression disappearing into the shadows of the window frame. “I can’t remember.”

What kind of place is the Demon Realm?

"The Demon Realm..."

Scorched earth, raging flames, blood, and overlapping crimson moon rings flashed through Cerberus's mind. He jerked off the memories chasing after him as if electrocuted before answering.

"It's a terrible place, you wouldn't want to know."

"What about the College of Cocytus?"

"I haven't been there, but it probably isn't much better than the Demon Realm, after all, its owner is that Demon Lord."

"You mean Mr. Tartarus? Do the creatures of the abyss also find him terrifying?"

"It's more than just terrifying. The Demon Lord is the oldest demon. No one knows how long he has lived, nor how powerful he truly is."

Even the Fiery Hellhound frowned when talking about that legendary, terrifying being.

"It is said that he once destroyed a large abyss realm, along with tens of millions of abyssal creatures within it, all of which were reduced to ashes in an instant... In short, he is a demon far more brutal than you can imagine."

Xia Ying sipped her noodle soup and mumbled, "Hmm, then why did he establish an academy?"

With a sharp, piercing creak, Cerberus suddenly pushed back his chair and stood up.

Xia Ying stopped what she was doing and looked up at him.

"..." The red-eyed man looked away. "I'll go wash the dishes."

He went into the kitchen, put the bowls and chopsticks in the sink, and turned the tap on full blast.

The Fiery Hellhound stared motionlessly at the rushing, clear water.

Human creations are interesting and intricate, yet fragile and easily destroyed.

Just like human beings themselves.

Just like summer fireflies.

Killing this human girl would be no more difficult than plucking a flower. If the abyssal creature pierced her neck with its sharp teeth and tore open her chest with its claws, her body would quickly decay into the dust of the demon realm, and her soul would be devoured by the Demon Lord...

He certainly couldn't stand all of this.

Cerberus's suppressed unease finally burst forth.

Just then, Xia Ying walked into the kitchen. Before she could speak, Cerberus had already turned around, and black flames ignited around him, quickly spreading towards Xia Ying.

"Let's run away." In the eye of the raging demonic hurricane, the red-eyed demonic hound slowly drew a giant black scythe from the flames. "Let's get away from the demon realm and the human realm, and find a fragmented space that even the Demon Lord cannot reach."

As the giant scythe gradually took shape, the concentration of magic energy far exceeded the limits that the human world could withstand. Just as the space was violently fluctuating and almost torn apart by the black flames, Xia Ying suddenly lifted Cerberus's face with both hands.

"Ker, calm down." Xia Ying looked directly into the demon hound's fierce eyes. "Whether we're going to the Demon Realm or the Cocytus Academy, you'll be with me, right?"

Cerberus looked back at her, his expression telling Xia Ying the answer.

“That’s fine then.” Xia Ying smiled at him. “The contract with the Demon Lord only lasts until I finish all my studies in Cocytus. Kel, I won’t die.”

The Fiery Hellhound didn't speak, but the flames around him began to subside, and the magic storm gradually calmed down.

As if nothing unusual had happened, Cerberus gently pushed the girl out of the kitchen without saying a word and turned back to the sink.

The clatter of bowls and chopsticks rang out. Xia Ying glanced at the other person's back as they washed the dishes, then walked to the sofa and sat down.

Sleepiness slowly crept in, and Xia Ying vaguely remembered that there seemed to be a mint candy in the left pocket of her skirt. She reached out to take it and sure enough, she felt a round, hard object that felt slightly cool to the touch.

Xia Ying took it out of her pocket, only to find that it wasn't a candy wrapped in a candy wrapper, but a... glass bead wrapped in a piece of paper?

She unfolded the note and saw a line of text inside:

"This is a Destiny-class magical artifact, the [Abyss Dangerous Creatures Compendium]. Please make good use of it."

The signature is Liu Ze.

"When were they let in..." Xia Ying muttered to herself.

She rubbed the bead with her fingertips, feeling nothing unusual, and then held it up to the light above her head to examine it.

Under the bright light, Xia Ying saw a wisp of purple mist seemingly floating inside the glass bead. The next second, the bead suddenly shattered, and the purple mist surged out from the crack, flashing into Xia Ying's right pupil like lightning.

A searing heat burned Xia Ying's right eye, but the pain subsided within seconds. When Xia Ying opened her eyes again, she found her palm empty; even the small note had disappeared.

Is it a hallucination?

The moment she uttered the name of the magical artifact in her mind, a huge, ancient book appeared out of thin air in front of her.

Cerberus poked his head out of the kitchen: "Xia Ying, remember to buy some kitchen paper when you're out... What are you daydreaming about?"

“Cere, Cere.” Xia Ying pointed to the book that was floating and glowing in front of her. “Do you know what this is?”

"Things? Where are there any things?" Busy Kernel impatiently returned to his battlefield. "I just watch TV when I have nothing to do."

"oh……"

Xia Ying casually turned on the TV, but her gaze returned to the strange book.

There were some suspicious dark red marks left on the spine of the book cover, which looked quite dangerous.

Xia Ying casually opened the large book, and the phantom of the red-eyed black dog suddenly leaped out from the pages, spewing out a burst of flames.

Then, the text slowly emerged from the blank space:

Xia Ying glanced at the book, then at the kitchen, and muttered to herself in confusion, "Skilled at housework... brutal and bloodthirsty...?"

The family dog, busy with housework, barked, "What did you say?"

Xia Ying paused slightly, then replied loudly, "Ke'er, our synchronization rate is 99%!"

"What is synchronization rate anyway? Stop watching those weird personality tests!"

Xia Ying didn't think about it seriously, but turned to another page.

This time, what swam out of the book was an Eastern dragon soaring through the clouds.

Abyss Species: Candle Dragon (Hybrid)

Xia Ying was astonished to learn that an official department employee who loved McDonald's actually had demon blood.

She flipped through the Abyss Compendium, skipping over a large number of blank pages that had not yet been filled in, and then Xia Ying returned to the first page of the book.

Black six wings emerged from the pages of the book, and the beautiful demonic phantom gave her a knowing smile.

[Abyssal Species: Lord of Demons]

Xia Ying pondered to herself: That really is very dangerous.

After a while, Cerberus finished cleaning up the kitchen, took off his apron and threw it on the hook, walked to the sofa and sat down next to Xia Ying, skillfully changing a few channels.

Xia Ying leaned naturally against her big dog's shoulder, watching the TV screen flicker: "Do you think the Demon Realm has TVs and cell phones?"

"No." After answering decisively, Kernel added uncertainly, "I don't think so."

"Not yet?" Xia Ying turned to look at him. "Will it happen in the future?"

“The overlap between the demon realm and the human world is growing larger,” Cerberus said. “The concentration of magic in the human world is increasing, and vice versa. The human world is also having a greater and greater impact on the demon realm and the creatures of the abyss… such as the Demon Lord.”

"Lord of Demons?"

“He’s really interested in the human world,” Kernel remarked. “A perverted human fetishist.”

"As if humans are so inferior! Don't you love watching TV and scrolling through short videos, Cerberus?"

"I just find it fun and convenient! Humans are so weak, okay?!"

Xia Ying pounced over to tickle the big dog, but was subdued by the demon dog and pinned to its knees.

“Xia Ying, listen carefully to what I have to say.” Cerberus lowered his head and looked intently into her eyes. “Tartarus is also known as the ‘Demon of Law and Order.’ Once you enter his territory, do not violate the rules he has set.”

The human girl, lying on her back, asked, "What will happen if I go against it?"

Cerberus replied, "Then you have betrayed the contract, which will give him a reason to take your soul."

Xia Ying got up: "If I want to drop out of school..."

Suddenly, a crack appeared in the space, and black feathers and a gust of wind rushed into the room. The Lord of Demons then stepped into Room 1008, Building C.

Cerberus shoved Xia Ying behind him, tensed up and went into full alert mode, letting out a low growl from his throat.

The Tartarus that appeared this time no longer looked like the ancient god of legend. This was not because his beauty and power had diminished, but because he had tied up his long platinum hair and was wearing a black suit that was luxurious and perfectly tailored.

"You live in a place like this?" Tartarus frowned slightly, looking around at the old two-bedroom apartment of less than 100 square meters. As he spoke, the luxurious watch on his wrist and the diamond cufflinks sparkled.

The Demon Lord, dressed in a suit and tie, now looks even more like a demon... the kind with capital flowing in his veins.

The Demon Lord turned his gaze to Xia Ying behind Cerberus: "According to the contract, I have come to pick you up."

Xia Ying glanced out the window; the midday sun was still dazzling. "Didn't you say you'd come at dusk?"

"That was my original plan, but circumstances changed, so I had to rush here from a jewelry auction secretly held by a human royal family."

Tartarus walked toward Xia Ying, taking off his right black silk glove as he did so.

Cerberus drew his giant scythe, having reached the limit of his patience with Tartarus's continued attacks.

The Demon Lord ignored the Fiery Hellhound's full-force, hostile attack. His fingertips passed effortlessly through the gust of wind whipped up by the scythe and lightly touched the human girl's forehead.

"The Charon train has arrived ahead of schedule." The six-winged demon looked down at her. "Go, Xia Ying, good luck."

A vortex of feathers swept in, enveloping both Xia Ying and Cerberus.

Xia Ying felt as if she were trapped in a cocoon, her ears filled with the sound of the wind. She didn't know how much time had passed when her feathers began to disperse. Xia Ying opened her eyes and saw the tranquil Styx River shrouded in thick fog.

She looked up and glanced around: "Ker, are you there?"

No one answered her.

Xia Ying thought to herself: Oh no.

At that moment, a beam of light pierced through the thick fog from afar, causing the water to tremble, followed by the roar of a train.

A feather drifted into Xia Ying's hand and transformed into a cell phone engraved with a wing mark.

Then, two mechanical beep codes sounded in succession from the phone:

"Beep! The admission qualification of new student [Xia Ying] has been confirmed."

"Ding! The special magical artifact [Cocytus Student Handbook] has been bound."

The tremors on the water became more and more obvious. Xia Ying looked up and saw a steel train, spewing thick white smoke, rumbling from the River Styx. The blinding headlights gradually enveloped Xia Ying completely.

The Charon, bound for Cocytus, has arrived.
