Chapter 10 一〇はい、どうぞ

Chapter 10 一〇はい、どうぞ

Like time paused.

When the glass door of the ice cream shop was pushed open, the few people in the store stopped what they were doing, the wind chimes rang, and their eyes followed the girl and boy.

It was a small shop with warm yellow lighting. There were no partitions inside, so the sightline was wide, and no matter where they sat, they could be seen. However, the boys did not seem to avoid being looked at, and could even be said to be oblivious to the surroundings.

Three people sat around a small round table.

There was only a paper dessert menu in the small shop. After Jiang Song sat down, he pushed it in front of Xia Cun, smiled and put his chin on his hand, and asked, "Can you help me take the order?"

Xia Cun looked at him, lowered his head and flipped through the dessert menu. After his eyes swept over the "Tropical Mango Boat" and "Nut Brownie", his fingertips landed on the small words "Red Bean Uji Matcha" and he said, "This one."

There were no mangoes or nuts that Jiang Song was allergic to, but there were matcha and red beans that Jiang Song liked. It sounded very similar to the parfait he had on Children's Day, and he would say he loved it.

"あ, good きだ."

She was like a witch who could predict the future, Jiang Song said in a sweet tone of praise, as if the low-pressure boy in the car a few minutes ago was not him.

Xia Cun felt satisfied. She retracted her finger, but at this moment she heard He Shizhao's voice: "Order one for me too."

She also turned her head to look at him, but He Shizhao still had an indifferent look in his eyes.

He always seems to be very stable, so will he get angry?

However, it must be annoying that he insists on eating parfait with me.

Thinking of this, she ordered a "Blueberry Yogurt" for He Shizhao, and she chose the "Tropical Mango Boat" for herself.

"なんで?" Even He Shizhao himself had no objection to the choice, but Jiang Song asked, "なんでBlueberry Yogurt なの?"

He said in Japanese English that blueberry yogurt was also cute.

“Because blueberries and yogurt are good for people who don’t like sweets.”

She answered seriously, and He Shizhao curled the corners of his mouth. The curvature was not obvious, but Jiang Song caught it. He supported his chin and stopped talking.

The store suddenly became very quiet. The other customers did not speak. Only songs as sweet as ice cream echoed in the air.

After waiting for a long time, three ice creams were served to the table together.

Jiang Song was disappointed at first because the tall glass containing the ice cream was not as slender as he liked.

But he was not unhappy about it. Instead, he took the ice cream with a smile, as if waiting for something interesting to happen.

Xia Cun also picked up her mango parfait and looked at him. Their eyes met, and Jiang Song tilted his head silently, as if to convey some kind of signal, and then winked at her lightly with his right eye.

さん, に, いち.

Three, two, one.

At the same time, the sound of seats being pushed open was heard, and the two robbers who had planned it in advance fled out of the store with the ice cream.

The wind chimes rang suddenly, leaving behind a gust of wind, a store of surprise and a heart that felt like it was falling into an icy cave.

The lights in the mall seemed to connect like shooting stars, and all the noise and attention seemed to be isolated in another time and space. They ran side by side along the long corridor, the different parts of the sundae cup pressed against each other in the cup, melting...

"Let's get rid of this guy," he suggested in her ear, "take Paffe away, and then leave him there to pay the bill... okay?"

Okay. She just wanted to eat parfait with Jiang Song.

Passersby looked sideways, as if watching a sudden scene from a movie, until the two teenagers disappeared into the crowd.

They hid in the stairwell, which was a little dark, empty and quiet.

Xia Cun heard her heartbeat pounding, not knowing whether it was her own or Ice Cream's. She sat down on the reflective steps and stared at the slightly deformed mango boat. Jiang Song soon came into her sight.

"Super-faced white い, ね?"

The boy's voice echoed in the enclosed space, asking her if it was fun.

Xia Cun turned around holding the goblet and asked in confusion, "Why do you always speak Japanese to me?"

Obviously he rarely speaks Japanese to other people.

"Eh? Isn't it because you can understand?"

Xia Cun didn't blink, and seemed a little dazed. Jiang Song smiled and said, "I always feel that you can understand."

"I can only understand a little bit."

"Then I feel a little bit right."

Perhaps because the air conditioning was trapped behind the heavy iron door, the heat was concentrated there. Xia Cun felt a little hot, even her ears were burning. She lowered her head, wanting to eat some ice cream to cool down, but realized she had forgotten to grab the spoon.

Maybe she wasn't cut out to be a robber.

"はい、どうぞ~"

Jiang Song handed her a long silver spoon and said to her, "Please use it," in a long tone, like the most polite and attentive waiter in the world.

It was he who had stuck the small spoon into the ice cream early in the morning. He understood Mizuno's strength at the fastest speed and said that he was the real robber.

A piece of rich green matcha mousse was attached to the silver spoon. Xia Cun took it and put it into his mouth to taste it. Then he thought of something else and turned to ask him, "How do you eat it?"

Jiang Song smiled, and like a cat demonstrating eating to another cat, he lowered his head and bit the tip of the melting ice cream, then looked at her.

Just like this, his eyes said.

"What about the part inside the cup?"

"Then just leave it. Anyway, this is not the puff pastry I like." He said in a casual tone, still very disappointed with the ice cream.

Xia Cun didn't say anything else and lowered his head to eat the mango in his cup.

Silence surrounded them, but Jiang Song didn't seem to want it to be like this. He spoke again: "I really want to taste the mango."

Xia Cun thought for a moment and asked him, "Is mango something you can't catch?"

"Etsu? Do you think a mango would be interesting to me?"

“But you don’t know what it tastes like.”

"You know that, too." He was rarely serious, his free hand lazily supporting his chin. "I only don't eat the mango because I'm worried about my life, but that doesn't mean I can't grab it and eat it."

After he said this, Xia Cun thought of the seventh point she was going to write on her memo: "7. Those with a strong desire to conquer may die from eating mangoes."

Then her mind jumped to another memory, and she asked him: "Jiang Song, what did you mean by what you just said in the car?"

"That sentence?" Jiang Song seemed to be recalling it, but finally said, "Forget it."

Well, Jiang Song has a very bad memory.

So what will he remember?

"There's something else that I'm concerned about." He also said it suddenly.

"What's going on?"

The response to her was silence. After a moment, he regretted: "Don't...なんでもないよ."

He acted as if nothing had really happened and was still acting so capriciously.

The stairwell was empty again, and two highball glasses were forgotten on top of the trash can.

In one of them, there was only a thin layer of coconut biscuits left at the bottom, while in the other, matcha-flavored jelly, mousse, and ice cream were all melted together with red beans...

Low-quality matcha and cheap parfait are so boring that you can only eat the first bite.
