Chapter 11 Meeting an opponent

After leaving Yizhuang, Lu Zheng urged Changshan and Changshui to hurry back. Finally, they arrived home before Lu Che came back. Lu Zheng sat in Zhutanju and still felt his heart pounding.

He sat for a while, then remembered the case file of Shuimiao'an mentioned by Bao Zheng. He could not sit still any longer. He stood up and was about to go to Feihongyuan. However, he bumped into Jixiang who was worried as soon as he entered the door.

"What are you doing in such a hurry?" Lu Zheng rubbed his forehead and pulled Jixiang up from the ground. Jixiang was pulled up

in a daze. When she saw that it was Lu Zheng, her eyes lit up and she wanted to say something but stopped.

Lu Zheng did not notice her expression. He just gave an order and hurried out.

Ji Xiang hesitated for a moment, but in the end did not call him.

Zhu Tan Ju and Fei Hong Yuan were not far apart, and Lu Zheng had been reading and practicing calligraphy in Lu Che's study recently. The guards were used to seeing him coming and going, and the brave ones even joked with him, "Haven't you finished your homework today, Third Young Master?"

Most of them were personal soldiers who had followed Ying Gongzhen to guard a place in the past. People who came from the military did not care so much about hierarchy. Lu Zheng always liked to talk with them, but today he had something on his mind, so he just said a few perfunctory words and stepped into Lu Che's study.

The desk was filled with files as usual, and Lu Zheng flipped through them one by one, and finally found the one about Shui Miao An.

Opening it, the first part describes the situation at the crime scene, the middle part is some analysis, and the last part says: "So the deceased was strangled to death, which shows that the criminal was very strong and fierce, and only Jian had the ability to do such a brutal thing at night."

The signature at the bottom is Zhao Xueqian.

Lu Zheng frowned and carefully recalled the chance encounter with Jian Yu. He always had a strong intuition that this was not done by Jian Yu. Before he could think it through, he saw the study door suddenly opened.

"Sorry to have waited for you, Master Lu. I apologize."

Zhao Xueqian finished speaking, and when he realized something was wrong, he raised his head and looked at Lu Zheng, who looked puzzled.

"Who are you?!"

Lu Zheng was startled by his loud voice. The guards outside the door also rushed in upon hearing the sound. The leader looked at Lu Zheng and then at Zhao Xueqin, and then explained in a low voice: "Mr. Zhao, this is the third young master of our family, not some villain."

Zhao Xueqin said righteously: "Even if you are the young master of your family, do you have any achievements? Do you have an official position? This case file is for official documents. A commoner who reads official documents should be punished with flogging according to the law."

Lu Zheng looked at him with a serious face . Confused, the guard next to him frowned: "Mr. Zhao, the third young master is your biological brother. Even if he is a little playful, why do you put such a big hat on him? Aren't you too alarmist?"

Zhao Xueqin seemed not to hear the warning in his words, and his face was very calm: "Whether it is alarmist or not, Lord Lu will make his own decision, don't you think so?"

The guard only then realized that Lu Che had been standing at the door without knowing when, with an ugly gloomy face. Seeing that everyone's eyes were looking at him, he walked in slowly.

"Mr. Zhao's valuable advice, this official will remember it in his heart." He glanced at the guards, "Do you admit your guilt?"

"My lord, please forgive me." Several guards knelt down one after another.

"Each of you will receive thirty strokes of the cane. If you do it again, you will not be allowed to stay in Feihong Courtyard."

Several guards went down to receive the punishment without saying a word. However, Lu Zheng could not help but said, "It has nothing to do with them. I practice calligraphy here every day. They just thought I came to take their things."

"Do you think you can escape?"

Lu Zheng wanted to explain again, but Lu Che's cold eyes swept over and immediately shut him up.

In this atmosphere, Zhao Xueqian remained calm. He bowed to Lu Che and said, "I dare not disturb you from handling family affairs. I will take my leave."

Lu Che said, "I am not strict with my family. I am sorry for making fun of you. I will treat you to a drink when I have time."

"You are so embarrassed." Zhao Xueqian stood up.

Lu Che sent someone to see the guests off, and then turned his gaze to Lu Zheng: "Come with me."

Lu Zheng moved his left leg, slowly shifting his center of gravity to his right leg, and then looked at Lu Che with a bitter face. Lu Che was sitting at the desk reading a book, as if he had completely forgotten his existence.

Lu Zheng did not dare to complain, and could only move his sore leg slightly.

"Do you know you're wrong?"

Lu Che's voice suddenly rang out, startling Lu Zheng, who quickly admitted his mistake honestly: "Brother, I was wrong."

"What's wrong?"

"I... I shouldn't have secretly flipped through the case files.

" "What else?"

"I..." Lu Zheng gritted his teeth, "I shouldn't have sneaked out."

Lu Che put down the book in his hand, "Not only that, have you forgotten what I said?" He pressed his tired brows, "I said you shouldn't interfere in this case."

"But brother..."

"What's your relationship with Jian Yu that made you risk your life to help him!"

Lu Che's sudden anger stunned Lu Zheng, and for a moment he even forgot to explain.

Lu Che mistook his silence as acquiescence. He shook his head in disappointment: "Hasn't this incident with Han Er taught you a lesson?"

Lu Zheng was stunned: "I..."

"You were injured so badly, did you really think your family wouldn't investigate?" Lu Che said, "Han Er just had a few jokes with someone behind your back, but you couldn't stand it and rushed up to punch him. As a result, you were seriously injured and your family was heartbroken. Was it worth it?"

Lu Zheng was stunned. He thought it was just a dispute between two playboys over trivial matters, and the original owner was unlucky, so he lost his life. How could he know there was such a secret?

"I... for simplicity?"

Lu Che looked at his brother and couldn't help but soften his tone: "You are not from the same world. You should have a smooth life. Why do you want to get involved with someone who crawled out of the quagmire? His life experience is so complicated that you can't imagine it at all."

Lu Zheng scratched his hair: "Brother, you misunderstood, I really don't know him...Okay, I will never see him again, I swear." No one believed the truth, Lu Zheng was so sad that he wanted to cry.

After listening to his assurance, Lu Che's face finally looked better.

Lu Zheng thought of Zhao Xueqian again and couldn't help asking, "Brother, is that the man who wrote these two case files?"

Lu Che nodded, "He is quite knowledgeable in criminal law and is very capable in solving cases, but he is rigid and inflexible."

Lu Zheng said, "Oh!" He could see that his elder brother still had a good impression of Zhao Shuling, but he always felt that this person made him feel uncomfortable.

Lu Che glanced at him and said, "It is indeed inappropriate for you to stay at home after your injury has healed..."

Lu Zheng suddenly had a bad feeling.

"You can go home to study at the beginning of next month."

Lu Zheng was hit by the news and didn't sleep well all night. He woke up the next day and kept yawning. Seeing Ji Xiang packing things, he was curious: "What are you doing?"

Ji Xiang packed everything and handed it to the little maid waiting beside her, then said to Lu Zheng: "You forgot, Madam said that she would go to Fengguo Temple to burn incense today and asked you to go with her."

Lu Zheng suddenly realized that Yun had told him about it a few days ago. He agreed to go out and play, but he didn't expect that time passed so quickly. He saw that Ji Xiang didn't seem to want to change clothes and dress up, so he hurriedly said: "If you don't dress yourself up, it will be too late."

Ji Xiang forced a smile and said: "I am not feeling well, so I won't go out with you today."

Lu Zheng was stunned for a moment: "Are you sick?"

"Maybe I got a headache from the wind yesterday."

Lu Zheng then realized that Ji Xiang had put powder on her face, but the dark blue under her eyes still showed through. He said, "Then you should have a good rest." Then he seemed to remember something, "Jin Lu has been sick for so many days, I wonder if she is better now?"

Ji Xiang's face changed immediately, but soon recovered: "I will go to visit Sister Jin Lu when I am free."

Lu Zheng agreed, and then walked towards the main courtyard.

Yun was leaning on a big pillow, and two maids were gently massaging her. There was a dark blue under her eyes, and her face was a little haggard, which showed that she did not sleep well last night.

Lu Zheng's voice of greeting woke her up. She waved her hand to let the two maids go down, pulled Lu Zheng over to take a look, and was relieved when she was sure that he was in good spirits.

"Have you had breakfast?"

Lu Zheng shook his head.

Without waiting for Yun to give any more instructions, Nanny Yu had already called a row of maids and quickly put up breakfast.

Lu Zheng was a little surprised: "We are not waiting for father?"

Yun sneered: "The Duke of England's mansion is so big, can it be that the Duke of England is hungry? You eat yours, don't worry about him!"

Lu Zheng touched his nose and silently lit a row of candles for his father.

After the meal was finished, Lu Zheng helped Yun walk slowly outside, and just as he walked out of the main courtyard, he ran into the Duke of England, Lu Qing.

"Hey, Madam, are you going to Fengguo Temple?"

In front of outsiders, Yun would still give him some face and did not reject his kindness. She just said coldly: "Zheng'er has been unlucky this year. I think he may have offended Taisui. Let's go to the temple to pray and let Master Luchen take a look at him."

Lu Zheng had never heard Yun say this before. He thought that she would come back after burning incense, so he hurriedly said: "No need, I think I'm fine."

Before he finished speaking, he was glared at by Lu Qing: "Of course we have to go and take a look. I'll go with you."

The head of the family had spoken, and Lu Zheng had no choice. Yun also turned a blind eye and let him go.

Lu Zheng was a little depressed. He was a ghost who had taken over someone else's nest. It was fine for him to go to the temple. Master Lechen sounded very high-level. Wouldn't he just find this wandering soul and burn him?

Yun misunderstood his expression and thought that he didn't like the hardship in the temple. She advised him earnestly: "Although it's a bit hard, it's also for your own good. Mother is with you, okay?"

Lu Qing played the role of a strict father: "How can a man be afraid of hardship! It's all because you are too spoiled..."

The two almost quarreled again on this issue. Lu Zheng looked at them with a confused expression. His parents are university professors, and his family is a combination of strict father and kind mother. His father is busy with research and is not at home all year round. He has been raised by his mother since he was a child, and he has the best relationship with his mother. Now his soul has drifted to this unknown time and space, so what will happen to his modern body? He is the only son of his parents. Will his mother collapse directly when she sees his body whose life and death is unknown?

Lu Zheng dare not think about it. After crossing over, he has been carefully integrating into the body of the original owner and using various things to divert his attention, but this does not mean that he does not want to go back. Even if he has all the memories of the third son of the Lu family in his mind, he still believes that he is the Lu Zheng living in the 21st century.

Regardless of whether he may be regarded as a monster, he has to try it. Maybe there is really a high monk who can guide him to go back?
