Chapter 41 Planting Cabbages

Jiang Xue was forced into a corner and had to get up and prepare to build a fire in the cave to keep warm, otherwise she really couldn't bear it.

After she came out of the cave, she saw Mu Feng sitting in front of the campfire, staring at a backpack in a daze. When he saw her coming, he quickly put down the backpack and stood up: "Why are you awake?"

Jiang Xue used her fingers as a comb to tidy up her messy hair, "I woke up from the cold."

It's only late autumn and she can't stand the cold here. What will she do when winter really comes?

Mu Feng frowned slightly when he heard this: "Yes, the weather has been getting colder recently."

Jiang Xue sat down and stretched out her hand to warm herself up. "Just do your thing and leave me alone. I'll go back to sleep once I'm warm."

As soon as she sat down, Mu Feng held her hand. He frowned and said, "Why are your hands so cold?"

Jiang Xue pulled her hand away and said nonchalantly, "That's just my constitution."

She has a yang deficiency constitution, so cold hands and feet are common in winter, and she cannot stand the cold. In the winter, she won't touch cold water or go out unless it is absolutely necessary.

"Can't you heal yourself?"

Jiang Xue smiled and said, "A doctor shouldn't treat himself."

This is a problem of physical condition. Even if she pays special attention to maintenance in this aspect, her physical fitness will be improved, but her physical condition will basically not change.

"How about this, I'll let Xiaohua sleep with you tomorrow."

Jiang Xue was even more unhappy: "No, I'm used to sleeping alone."

"If you don't get enough rest, why don't you just stop working tomorrow and stay in the tribe."

Jiang Xue smiled faintly and said, "I'd like to stay in the tribe and not go anywhere, but do you know how to farm?" Since she had already started, Jiang Xue simply told him her thoughts all at once: "By the way, if the Eagle Tribe refuses to give up and tries to unite with people from other tribes to attack us, what should we do then?"

Mu Feng sighed deeply and said, "I've been thinking about this too. We only have so many of us. Even if the Bear Tribe joins us, we can't be a match for the Eagle Tribe."

"Our people train every day, but training is a long process, and you won't see any results in a short period of time. And you saw what happened today. We in the tribe were originally capable of defeating them, but they still pinned us to the ground."

When he said this, Mu Feng sighed repeatedly, "It would be great if the Bear Tribe could have a few outstanding warriors."

"It's better to rely on yourself than on others," Jiang Xue disagreed. "We should always prepare for the worst. If they had any ability to protect themselves, they wouldn't go along with the Eagle Tribe. We have to be more open-minded about this matter. Our only hope now is that Akagi doesn't break his promise or turn against us. If he sends a letter to the Eagle Tribe under the pretext of returning to the tribe, and then brings them to attack us, we won't be able to withstand their attack at all."

Mu Feng nodded solemnly.

Jiang Xue was right. If Akagi really did this, what would he and his tribesmen do?

He looked at Jiang Xue seriously: "Axue, do you have any good ideas?"

"I've just been thinking, if we can make some sturdy equipment and better weapons, will we be able to withstand their attacks?" Jiang Xue said seriously, picking up a bamboo strip from the ground. "If we can find some lightweight and durable rattan to make some armor, maybe we can still have a chance to turn the tables."

Mu Feng didn't understand at all: "Use vines to make armor?"

Jiang Xue shook her head. "We're in a hurry to arm our people. Time doesn't allow us to make armor out of rattan. If we could make it out of bamboo, the Eagle Tribe might not be able to do anything to us."

It takes at least half a year to select the vines and make a set of rattan armor. They need these things to enhance their defense right now, which is simply unrealistic.

But if we use bamboo to make armor, there might be enough time.

As for the method, we can only refer to the famous "Golden Jade Clothes". First, cut the bamboo into suitable small pieces, and then string them together with hemp ropes. Maybe it can withstand the attack.

Mu Feng stared at her. "What did you say? Bamboo can be made into... clothes?"

"It's not clothes, it's armor, but you can also understand it as clothes. Armor is specifically used for fighting." Jiang Xue corrected him, "How about this, tomorrow I'll take a few people to plant some things. You have people cut bamboo and break it into thick slices two fingers wide. Then, have people fish out the ramie that's soaked in the trench. I'll take care of the rest."

After saying that, Jiang Xue stood up and yawned, "I'm going to bed." Before leaving, she reminded him, "Don't do it at night. It's bad for your eyes."

"I'm not making a backpack." Mu Feng picked up the backpack and explained, "Little Fatty told me this. He said that when the Eagle Tribe attacked, Lao Song was making a backpack. When Pingyuan stabbed Lao Song with his stone spear, Lao Song casually picked up his unfinished backpack and blocked it." He looked at the backpack, puzzled: "Tell me, how did this backpack block Pingyuan's attack?"

Jiang Xue was stunned. "Lao Song? Are you talking about the old man who made the backpack so well?"

She remembered clearly what she had seen after rushing into the tribe: Pingyuan was stepping on his head and threatening him. She looked up at him and asked, "What do you want to say?"

Mu Feng said, "I just had this idea before, but didn't you just say you wanted to use bamboo to make that... armor?"

Jiang Xue laughed. Her idea actually coincided with his. However, using bamboo to make armor could only refer to the gold-embroidered jade robe. She immediately said to him, "Okay, I understand. Do you have anything else to say?"

Mu Feng shook his head.

Jiang Xue put down her backpack and took a burning piece of wood from the campfire. "Then please help me bring a bundle of firewood. I want to build a fire in the cave too."

Although lighting a fire indoors may cause gas poisoning, they live in a cave with a completely open entrance, so they don't have to worry about this at all.

Mu Feng helped her light a fire beside her bed and added enough firewood, and only then did Jiang Xue fall into a deep sleep.

When I woke up in the morning, the fire was still there, but it was obvious that someone had added more firewood, otherwise it would have gone out long ago.

During breakfast, Jiang Xue asked Mu Feng bluntly, "Have you decided what to do with those people from the Eagle Tribe?"

Mu Feng narrowed his eyes and looked at the Eagle Tribe, his eyes revealing boundless coldness. "Although more than a dozen of them used to be from our tribe, you are right. Once unfaithful, you will never use them again. Don't worry about it."

Jiang Xue didn't hesitate. After dinner, she called Xiaohua and Aqing. They each picked up a stone spear and used a wooden stick to dig up a pile of wood ash. They put the ash in a backpack padded with leaves and went to the place where they had picked up stones yesterday.

She assigned them tasks: "I'll use a stone spear to poke a hole in the soil about half a finger deep. Xiaohua will count three or four seeds and throw them in. Ah Qing will sprinkle ash in the hole with the seeds."
