After sending the villagers away, the banquet officially began.
There were not many people present, just the Yang family, the Hu family, the Zhou family, some co-workers with whom the Zhou family had a good relationship during work, and a few respected elders in the village.
They didn't have many relatives, so all of them only sat at four tables.
Hu Lin and Zhou Huaijing ate something to fill their stomachs, and then started toasting at each table.
Both of them are people who don't usually drink, but after all this, their cheeks turned red and their eyes were shining.
After the process was completed, the two of them sat down to have a good meal.
Zhou Huaijing picked up a piece of food for Hu Lin with his chopsticks.
When Hu Lin saw that everyone's eyes were not on them, he secretly asked Zhou Huaijing, "Whose idea was it to have this ceremony? Why didn't you tell me in advance?"
If she hadn't reacted quickly, she would have been a laughing stock.
"I was so busy that I forgot." Zhou Huaijing felt a little guilty.
"Okay." Hu Lin picked up a piece of food with chopsticks to suppress the smell of alcohol in his mouth.
When Zhou Huaijing saw this, his eyes darkened.
After eating and drinking, some people chatted in the yard, while others washed dishes in the kitchen.
After getting up early and working hard until now, and drinking some wine, Hu Lin felt a little sleepy, so he went back to his room to rest.
In the afternoon, Hu Jun guessed that Hu Lin had woken up and knocked on her door.
Only after getting Hu Lin's approval did Hu Jun go in.
"Why are you here?" Hu Lin was a little surprised when he saw it was Hu Jun.
She didn't expect Hu Jun to come back suddenly, and she was quite surprised to see him when she was toasting.
After not seeing him for a few years, Hu Jun has become fairer and more refined, exuding an academic elegance.
Wearing glasses, he looks like a mature and steady man at first glance.
"I'm here to give you a wedding gift." Hu Jun said softly, took out the gift box he carried with him and handed it to Hu Lin.
"Thank you." Hu Lin took it and asked, "How have you been these years?"
After they parted in the capital, they never saw each other again.
Only when he came back did he occasionally hear Li Aihua mention it, and it was mostly about Gao Ruqiong worrying about Hu Jun's marriage.
Over the years, Hu Jun has been sending toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and other items to his home, and the relationship between the two families is as close as one family.
"It's pretty good. I've learned a lot doing research with the teacher." Hu Jun stood one meter away from Hu Lin.
"If you need money, you can tell me and I will invest." Hu Lin suggested, although he knew it was unlikely.
There will never be a lack of funding for what Hu Jun is researching.
"Okay." Hu Jun agreed. "How have you been these past few years?"
The only news he had of Hu Lin was an occasional mention in a letter home.
"Not bad."
"I heard from Li Wen that you were looking for materials?" Hu Jun tried to find a topic.
Hu Lin did not answer but asked: "Are you still in contact with them?"
There was a hint of caution in his words.
"I don't know many people in Beijing. Li Wen thought we were relatives. We met a few times in our free time, and we became familiar with each other."
Hu Jun explained.
Hu Lin then answered his question, "I have been looking for the materials for quite a long time, but I still have no clue.
Years ago, I talked to Li Wen about whether we could try to make it ourselves. "
"Do you have any material requirements? Our research institute has a lot of new materials that may be able to help you."
Hu Lin became interested. "Will this not violate your confidentiality clause?"
“As long as it’s not a core material, it won’t affect you.
During the research process, many unsuitable materials were produced. If you can use them, it won’t be a waste.”
Zhou Huaijing, who came over to take a look, heard Hu Jun's words outside the door and did not come in.
"Okay, when are you leaving? I'll write a letter for you and bring it to Li Wen, and you two can talk." Hu Lin made the decision.
"Tomorrow." The research institute has been very busy recently, and he didn't get much leave.
He originally planned to go back after attending Hu Lin's wedding.
Hu Lin heard this and said jokingly, "I haven't seen you for a few years, and you have become a busy man."
"You're quite busy, too. In the letters from my parents, I can still see what my aunt said to my mom, saying that you've been away from home all year round and don't know how you're eating and wearing."
"Now that you have grown up, it is time to strive hard." Hu Lin said politely, and then changed the subject, "I am writing to you now."
"good."
Hu Lin went to the Zhou brothers and sisters to get some letter paper, wrote a letter to Li Wen, then put it in an envelope and handed it to Hu Jun.
It was time for dinner and a group of people started eating.
Hu Jun and his family sat at a table next to them.
They ate and talked, and soon the topic turned to Hu Jun, the hot bun.
Gao Ruqiong and his wife also took the opportunity to promote Hu Jun.
Hu Jun has always refused the pressure to get married.
Hu Jirui and Gao Ruqiong could only sigh as they watched.
I really don’t know what’s wrong with his eldest son. He’s already 26 years old, but he’s not in a hurry to find a partner. All he has in his mind is work, work.
Look at Hu Zhong and Myolie Wu, their children can run away, so why is he still alone?
Hu Lin smiled when he heard the various urgings.
After dinner, everyone took a break and left.
Yang Qing came over with a wooden box in his arms, handed it to Hu Lin, and said in a muffled voice, "A wedding gift."
"Thank you." Hu Lin took the wooden box.
After everyone left, Li Aihua and the Zhou family cleaned up the table, and Hu Xiaoyi also stayed to help with the work.
Li Aihua realized that with one more person working, the work could be finished sooner, so she didn't chase anyone away.
Hu Lin put the wooden box in the cabinet together with the gift from Hu Jun.
After cleaning up, it was late at night and everyone went back to their rooms to sleep.
After Hu Lin and Zhou Huaijing got married, they had to live in the same room. After dinner, the old couple of the Zhou family helped bring Zhou Huaijing's bedding over.
