Chapter 24 Poetry Gathering at Mingyue Tower

On his way back from Li's Medical Clinic, Qin Chuan saw that more and more people had gathered at the entrance of Mingyue Tower, all seemingly filled with anticipation for the grand poetry gathering that evening!

Mingyue Tower is the largest and most prestigious restaurant in the entire Jiangzhou Prefecture. It is said that the Empress once stayed at this restaurant when she traveled incognito.

Of course, this is just a rumor.

"Young master, Miss is looking for you everywhere!"

Suddenly, Yuan'er appeared in front of Qin Chuan, her forehead damp with sweat, and her large, bright eyes filled with anxiety.

“Yuan’er…”

Qin Chuan had just called out when Yuan'er pulled him away.

"Miss said the poetry gathering is about to begin, so we need to hurry up and prepare," Yuan'er said as she walked.

Where is Miss?

"Miss is putting on makeup, and Juan'er is serving her. Miss asked me to go find the young master and tell him to go back and change into a nicer outfit before attending the poetry gathering," Yuan'er said.

Upon hearing Yuan'er say that Ruyan was putting on makeup, Qin Chuan thought to himself that she was putting on makeup so that he could save face when the two of them went to the poetry gathering later.

To everyone's surprise, when they got back, Su Ruyan was actually dressed as a man!

Su Ruyan's hair was tied up with a jade hairpin, and she was dressed in a long robe, looking every bit the scholar!

She also washed away the rouge marks on her face and lips, leaving her face naturally white. However, the original color of her pink lips added a touch of charm, making her look like a jade-faced scholar with a white fox-like face!

"Wife, what are you doing?"

Qin Chuan asked, puzzled.

Su Ruyan turned around, smiled, and blinked her beautiful eyes: "Do I look like a man now?"

"picture."

Qin Chuan originally wanted to say, "It looks like her, but she doesn't have an Adam's apple," so that people could still recognize her as a woman.

Seeing how happy she was, I guessed she was just thinking of having some fun at the poetry gathering, meaning she didn't tell the whole truth.

Since the beginning of poetry gatherings in Dagan, they have generally been attended by men, which has formed an unwritten rule that only men can participate in poetry gatherings.

Su Ruyan dressed up as a man and wanted to have some fun, and Qin Chuan didn't stop her. On the contrary, he thought that this was exactly what made his wife so adorable!

Qin Chuan also went back to his room to change his clothes.

"Fifth Sister! Are you all dressed up?" Su Ruxue walked into Su Ruyan's room, looking excited and expectant.

Su Ruxue was dressed up in a flamboyant manner, but she was not pretty, no matter how she dressed up she was not beautiful. When she saw that her fifth sister was dressed as a man, she laughed and asked her why she dressed like that. Ruyan smiled but did not answer.

"Miss, it's almost time!"

Yuan'er glanced at the silver watch in her hand, checked the time, and reminded her.

The watch was naturally a gift from Qin Chuan, and she cherished it dearly.

Su Ruyan glanced at the gold watch on her wrist, frowned, and immediately ordered a car to be prepared.

...

"Miss, we've arrived!"

A carriage stopped in front of Mingyue Tower, and six people got out of the carriage: Qin Chuan, Su Ruyan dressed as a man, Su Ruxue dressed in flamboyant clothes, the honest Xu Mu, and Yuan'er and Juan'er.

It was dusk, and the area around Mingyue Tower was already adorned with lanterns, bright and colorful, as bright as day!

Many horse-drawn carriages drove onto this street, creating a bustling and lively atmosphere!

"call out!"

The sound of fireworks rang out, followed by a dazzling display of fireworks bursting in the sky!

Qin Chuan was in a great mood. With such a beautiful day and his wife by his side, how could he not be happy!

The crowd was so dense that the entrance to Mingyue Tower was completely blocked. No wonder they required invitations to enter; if everyone were to enter, they would probably trample the threshold of Mingyue Tower to dust.

"Those with invitations may enter; those without invitations are not permitted to enter!"

Two armed constables stood at the entrance of Mingyue Tower to maintain order, while another constable was responsible for checking invitations to prevent anyone from sneaking in.

Qin Chuan originally thought that as long as he had an invitation, he could bring his family members in, but he didn't expect that only one person could enter with one invitation!

"Wife, how about I give you the invitation so you can go in and have some fun?" Qin Chuan handed the invitation to Su Ruyan.

Unexpectedly, Su Ruyan smiled and took something out of her bosom—it was an invitation she had prepared beforehand!

Qin Chuan understood. Since his father-in-law could get his hands on an invitation, there must be more than one...

Sure enough, Xu Mu also received an invitation.

Even with an invitation, Su Ruxue couldn't get in and had to wait outside.

Su Ruxue held Xu Mu's hand: "Husband, I believe in your poetic talent; it will surely amaze everyone!"

Xu Mu looked troubled, but still nodded.

Yuan'er and Juan'er also stayed outside the door. I thought they would be disappointed, but when they saw the candied hawthorn vendor next to them, they happily walked over without looking back...

"Wife, let's go inside."

Qin Chuan was about to pull Su Ruyan inside when they heard a jostling sound from behind.

"Make way! Make way! Can't you see our young master Zhu wants to go in?"

"Young Master Zhu! Please come in! Please come in!"

Before Qin Chuan could even enter, a young man dressed in white, holding a folding fan, rushed in ahead of him, followed by a group of scholars dressed in academic robes...

"Zhu Qingshou?"

Qin Chuan was stunned for a moment. It turned out that the "Young Master Zhu" that the passersby were talking about was Zhu Qingshou, who had tried to steal his wife at the "Wedding Ceremony"!

What a small world!

Seemingly having heard Qin Chuan's voice, Zhu Qingshou turned around, stared at Qin Chuan for a moment, and then said with a mocking expression, "Qin the Fool?! Did you come here for the poetry gathering or just to watch the fun?"

"You beast! Excuse me, I'm here to attend the poetry gathering!" Qin Chuan sneered at him.
