Chapter 68 Mandarin Duck Formation to Kill the Enemy

Before them was a small group of Japanese pirates, numbering about a hundred.

These Japanese pirates had just slaughtered a small village and now wanted to set it on fire and leave before looting their next target.

While searching for the main force of the Japanese pirates, Song Lian still remembered the Grand Preceptor's instructions: kill every Japanese pirate he saw, and leave no survivors!

Although the hundred or so Japanese pirates in front of him were just a mosquito bite and could not satisfy his appetite at all, even a mosquito bite is still meat. The elite soldiers of the Northern Camp, who had been training for nearly a month, were already itching to drink the blood of the Japanese pirates!

"rush!"

"rush!"

As the swarming soldiers surrounded them, the Japanese pirate squad, trapped deep within the encirclement, were filled with anger and panic. They were short and stocky, with rat-like faces and ugly features, like rats that had just crawled out of the sewers!

"Baka!!"

The pirate leader roared, drew his sword, and rallied all the pirates to fight back-to-back, attempting to break through the encirclement.

With a wave of his hand, Song Lian ordered his soldiers to advance.

After nearly a month of training, the soldiers had already memorized the formation. The two soldiers at the front, one with a long shield and the other with a rattan shield, followed by two with wolf-tooth rakes, then four spearmen, with two on each side supporting the shield bearers and the wolf-tooth rake bearers.

At the very back, two more men wielding halberds stood guard and provided support.

Each team is commanded by a team leader.

This is the Mandarin Duck Formation from Qi Jiguang's Art of War.

Upon encountering the Japanese pirates, the well-trained soldiers remained calm and steadily advanced...

"Baka!"

Seeing the approaching, densely packed soldiers, the Japanese pirate leader roared and led his men to charge forward!

"kill!"

"kill!"

The spear pierced the chest of the Japanese pirate leader, and a large amount of blood gushed out.

With a soft thud, another spearhead pierced the chest of the minor leader. The leader's eyes widened in disbelief, and he couldn't believe it even in death. He hadn't even touched a hair on Gan Jun's head. As his breath dissipated, his cry of "Baka..." was drowned out by the sounds of battle.

What unfolds before us is a massacre, but the targets have changed to Japanese pirates...

The battle ended quickly.

Battalion Commander Guan Yong reported the battle results to Song Lian: "We killed 112 Japanese pirates, one of our soldiers was slightly wounded, and there were no deaths!"

Song Lian flung two Japanese pirate heads off his horse. "How come there are still minor injuries?"

"Reporting to Your Excellency, this person's minor injury was caused by being stepped on by someone behind him."

Guan Yong then asked, "Should we report this great victory to the imperial court?"

Song Lian, looking impatient, angrily retorted, "Report my ass! Killing a hundred people is considered a great victory? You really are something else!"

"So, should we rest or push forward?" Guan Yong asked, head bowed, after being scolded.

"Keep advancing! Kill any enemy you see!"

"yes!"
