Chapter 7 Mules and Horses Are Indistinguishable

"Qin Chuan, today is your wedding day with Miss Su. As your neighbors, we should help you out. How about this: you and Miss Su can have a good talk here, and we'll go buy some good wine and meat, and set up a few tables to celebrate!"

Village head Hu Lao had completed the marriage quota assigned by the county, and his promotion to county elder was a foregone conclusion, so he was extremely happy and proposed to his neighbors.

The villagers all agreed.

After all, they were fellow villagers, and they actually had feelings for Qin Chuan.

Although Qin Chuan has been mentally challenged for many years, he is still a pitiful child.

Ever since his father moved to the distillery with him, he had never seen his mother. Later, his father became an alcoholic and died young, leaving the child an orphan without parents, and then he became mentally challenged and simple-minded...

"Uncles, there's no need for that," Qin Chuan said, bowing to his neighbors.

"You're getting married today, why aren't you using it? And you're saying such silly things..." Old Hu said, feigning anger.

Qin Chuan smiled and said, "What I mean is, there's no need for you all to spend money; I have the money."

As he spoke, he took out twenty taels of silver from his sleeve.

This completely shocked the villagers.

"Qin Chuan, where did you get so much money?!"

"Yeah, where did all this money come from?"

Su Ruyan's expression changed unpredictably. She heard all the villagers' discussions, but she couldn't tell whether Qin Chuan was the rumored Qin prodigy.

However, the person in front of me can't compose poetry at all, so how do you explain the fact that the Qin prodigy could compose poetry at the age of six?

Seeing Qin Chuan take out so much silver, she stared at him and reminded him:

"Where did you get all this money? Did you steal from the government treasury? That's a capital offense..."

Qin Chuan laughed and said, "My wife, don't be alarmed. This money was absolutely clean. I, Qin Chuan, have never done anything dishonest!"

"Then tell me clearly, where did this money come from?" Su Ruyan was somewhat skeptical of his answer and continued to press him for an answer.

The villagers all knew Qin Chuan's financial situation well; he didn't have a single penny on him. He had even borrowed two coins from Miss Su to buy flowers. Now, he suddenly had so much gleaming silver...

There must be something fishy about this.

Could it be true, as Miss Su said, that he stole silver from the government treasury?

Qin Chuan had already prepared his response to everyone's questions.

He smiled and said to Su Ruyan, "My lady, have you heard the rumor of 'money making money'?"

Su Ruyan rolled her eyes at him, knowing he was about to start making up lies.

As expected, Qin Chuan continued, "Just now, my wife lent me a piece of silver. This piece of silver stayed on me for only a moment, and it turned into these large, white ingots of silver..."

"No way? Village head! Can this money really generate more money?" a simple-minded man asked.

"I think you're the idiot!" Old Hu, the village head, glared at him.

Obviously, no one will believe the explanation that "money makes money".

Seeing that Su Ruyan was still worried about whether he had stolen something, Qin Chuan simply raised his finger and made a solemn oath.

Su Ruyan then believed that he really hadn't stolen anything.

As for where the silver came from, Qin Chuan remained vague and refused to tell the truth.

Su Ruyan had no choice but to give up asking further questions.

Qin Chuan handed twenty taels of silver to Old Hu, saying, "I'll trouble the village head to buy me some good wine and food, and hire two chefs when I get back. I want to host a banquet for the villagers in the winery!"

Holding such a large sum of silver, Old Hu's mouth dropped open in surprise. Upon hearing Qin Chuan's request, he nodded hurriedly in agreement.

Qin Chuan added, "Also, I would like to trouble the village head to help me hire the best sedan chair and fine horses in town. I want to marry Miss Su in a grand and glorious manner..."

"With the remaining money, hire two horse-drawn carriages so that all the villagers can ride back to the village!"

"Qin Chuan, I never imagined you were so wealthy, yet you still think of your fellow villagers..."

Old Hu was grinning from ear to ear. He took the money and went with his neighbors to get it done.

After the villagers had all left, Su Ruyan gazed at Qin Chuan for a moment, then softly said, "You still have a life to live in the future. Don't you think about the future if you continue to squander money like this?"

Qin Chuan felt that her words were a bit strange. What did she mean by "you"? Didn't we live together?

Does Su Ruyan have some secret she's hiding...?

However, her concern for him touched Qin Chuan's heart. He took out all the silver he had and stuffed it into her arms: "Wife, what you said makes a lot of sense. I feel ashamed. How about this, from now on, you can manage the money I earn!"

"This..." Su Ruyan paused, then accepted the money, but sighed leisurely, "You don't know, I'm not a greedy person..."

Qin Chuan laughed and said, "I know my wife is proud, but there's nothing I can do about it. I'm not good at managing money, and you don't like spending it. If I hand it over to you, our money will only grow more and more..."

"It's not about having a lot of money, just enough to get by," Su Ruyan said calmly.

"What you say makes sense, but may I ask what else you've said?"

"What did you say?"

Money isn't everything, but you can't do anything without it!

"Where is this proverb from?"

"This is the truth of the world."

Upon hearing this, Su Ruyan stood there stunned for a few seconds, a strange light flashing in her beautiful eyes. She thought to herself that although he might not be that "child prodigy," his words seemed to contain a hidden meaning and truth...

A strange feeling suddenly rose in her heart, as if... when she spoke with her husband, whom she had married out of necessity and who was known as "Qin the Fool," she felt a faint sense of joy.
