Chapter 46 Ants Climbing a Tree

Chapter 46 Ants Climbing a Tree

Jiang Zhi waited until both children had finished playing, then, carrying one child in one arm and Big Yellow in the other, she prepared to go home to cook lunch.

Pei Ye was still stunned by what he had just said.

They even forgot that he always politely saw the guests out.

Jiang Zhi naturally knew how shocked the young master, who had never thought about the future, was by what she had just said. She didn't disturb his thoughts and quietly left.

Only his two good brothers beside him speculated about his current state, peeking around him and whispering behind Pei Ye's back.

Gu Yuan: "Hey, you surnamed You, do you think Boss Jiang confessed to him? Why is that guy surnamed Pei standing there like an idiot?"

You Yi: "Sister Gu, what you said is... so true! But if Brother Pei and Boss Jiang successfully confessed their feelings to each other, we'd both be driven crazy by their harassment. Could it be that he failed?"

Upon hearing this, a strange emotion flashed in Gu Yuan's eyes, and he looked at You Yi with great pity.

She lowered her voice even further:

"You better pray that's not the case, otherwise you should know who that guy surnamed Pei is most likely to vent his anger on!"

You Yi hadn't really realized what he meant when he said those words, but Gu Yuan's words made him realize it immediately. His lips twitched, and after thinking for a moment, he put on a look of being ready to die and comforted himself.

"Alright, we're good brothers! It's only right that we carry the fire..."

...

*

Jiang Zhi was unaware of the chaos and turmoil over there.

She was also in a bit of a mess, after all, she had to hold back the dog that was rushing forward with one hand, and there was also a child who kept falling behind.

It's exhausting no matter how you look at it.

However, Jiang Zhi actually managed to maintain a pretty good relationship with the two.

The key point is that she gave Xiao Mahua an important task: to watch over the dog; she also gave the newly arrived dog an equally important task: not to lose the puppy.

And so, the two sides remained deadlocked.

Aside from occasional sudden accelerations in the T-run and sudden pauses in progress, Jiang Zhi stated that everything is under control.

While she was at it, Jiang Zhi mentally sorted out Yan Mo's workload, planning to tell her about it later.

Previously, due to the start of the banquet and the chaotic breakfast, the division of tasks was not very clear.

Jiang Zhi finally had a moment to clear her head and thought about it: Yan Mo's role was, after all, to be a helper. Her actual workload should be preparing vegetables when she set up the stall in the evenings and taking care of half of the breakfast. She could go home and rest the rest of the time.

Jiang Zhi planned to go back later and discuss with her whether they could take over a few items from the breakfast shop, such as steamed buns, soy milk, and corn porridge—simple yet very common breakfasts—to retain their regular customers.

Jiang Zhi was responsible for creating two new dishes from time to time to attract new customers.

*

Lost in thought, Jiang Zhi, with a dog and a child, arrived at the market not far from her home.

She had almost run out of ingredients, so she planned to buy some for lunch.

As for what to eat for lunch?

She simply squatted down and asked Little Twist.

Little Twist was looking around when he was suddenly hit by the loud noise, leaving him completely bewildered.

She stared at Jiang Zhi with her round eyes for a long time. After confirming that Sister Jiang was serious, she felt terrible. She pouted slightly and looked dejected.

Jiang Zhi found this expression rather amusing.

I didn't notice before.

Little Twist is actually suffering from decision-making anxiety.

Finally, in a fit of exasperation, Little Twist stroked Big Yellow with one hand and, in a fit of despair, pointed randomly in a direction with the other.

Jiang Zhi took a look and found that it was actually a shop selling dried rice noodles.

Her eyes darted around, and she chuckled as she patted the little girl's head. Then she led the waist-length girl over, talking all the while.

"This is it then! I'll show you my skills today!"

Besides buying vermicelli, Jiang Zhi also went to the butcher shop.

*

By this time, the sun had already risen high above the willow branches. The butchers were worried about not selling all the pork they had sold that day when Jiang Zhi arrived and made a big purchase, buying up most of their stock. They were overjoyed.

So when Jiang Zhi asked them to help cut the meat sauce and offered a tip, they naturally reciprocated without hesitation.

I chopped it very finely and even asked what the ginger was going to use it for, so it would be easier to cut into shapes.

Jiang Zhi only said to make it as fine as possible so that it would be easier to make minced meat sauce.

With just this one sentence, the old lady in the butcher shop even took the opportunity to teach Jiang Zhi the currently popular stir-frying method.

This was an unexpected delight for Jiang Zhi. She listened with a smile, occasionally asking questions, which fully satisfied the old lady's desire to teach.

So before leaving, the old woman wiped her hands, patted Jiang Zhi, and gestured to her with her eyes:

I believe in you!

Jiang Zhi, who was all too familiar with that look in his eyes, quickly nodded obediently.

*

After these little incidents were finally resolved, Jiang Zhi went to buy some of her favorite dishes to use before heading back home.

When Jiang Zhi got home, she could already hear Xiao Mahua's stomach rumbling slightly, and she herself was also a little hungry.

As soon as I got home, I quickly started cooking.

That's right. Jiang Zhi did the math. Today, it was just her and Xiao Mahua eating together, maybe with Zuo Tianyuan who might come over for a free meal, plus Da Huang.

Based on the serving size for three and a half people, she only planned to cook one dish this time.

This is the dish I'm planning to eat for lunch today—

Ants climbing a tree!

The dish "Ants Climbing a Tree" did not actually exist in the Song Dynasty; it was created around the Qing Dynasty.

However, it's not a restriction on ingredients.

For Jiang Zhi's replication project, this technique is relatively simple.

She first soaked the rice noodles she bought in warm water, then picked up the snacks she had made a few days ago, took a couple of bites, and also gave two pieces of fried dough twists to Xiao Mahua, mainly to fill her stomach first.

Then the minced meat was ready to be stir-fried.

Jiang Zhi first scooped up a large spoonful of lard, and with a flick of the flame, the chunks of pork fat slowly melted in the pan. Once the pan and the oil were both heated up, Jiang Zhi slightly turned off the heat, preparing to add minced garlic later!

There's no way around it, this dish only tastes good when stir-fried with lard!

Once the oil had cooled slightly and Jiang Zhi was absolutely certain it wouldn't fry, she dared to add the chopped and dried garlic. With the help of the oil, it immediately turned into golden-brown fried garlic.

It smells wonderful!

When the time came, Jiang Zhi glanced at the oil in the pot that was bubbling slightly, and simply put the minced meat in as well.

Then the stirring motions became much faster.

There's no other way; the meat can't be overcooked. This is just to cook the meat thoroughly and remove the moisture along with it!
