Chapter 29 The Little Thief (Part Two)

"Alright, shut up! Enough with the nonsense!"

After walking around the outer wall of the Cheng family's house, the bald man stopped by the back door and said impatiently, "You two stand here. I'll bring the skinny guy up after I go up. Shorty, you keep watch outside!"

Upon hearing this, the two immediately went to stand by the wall. They saw the bald man climb onto their shoulders in a few quick movements, pull them up with both hands, and steadily climb over the wall. Then he reached down to pull the other person up.

The three moved with practiced ease and worked together seamlessly, clearly indicating that this was not their first time doing something like this.

However, the skinny man was clearly not as agile as the bald man. He struggled on the wooden board several times, groaning and mumbling a few times, before finally climbing up.

At this moment, the bald man had already jumped down and stood in front of the back door of the Cheng family. He looked around and then turned around to check the back door. He found that there were actually two back doors to the Cheng family, and each one was locked with a heavy iron lock. The bald man couldn't help but frown, feeling that something was strange.

Suddenly he realized that his companion was still not down, and couldn't help but look up at the person and growl in a low voice, "What are you dawdling for? Hurry up and come down! Do you still want to sit there and watch the sunrise?!"

The skinny man reluctantly jumped down, then said sullenly, "No, there are still some nails on the wooden planks in this place. The workmanship isn't very careful. Didn't you bump into anything, brother? I think I scraped myself in several places. It hurts so much. Could you check if I'm bleeding...?"

The bald man glanced at it twice, but because the light was too dim, he couldn't see anything clearly, only vaguely that his clothes were indeed torn.

"Alright, alright, it's just a tiny wound, it won't kill you. Let's go check the backyard first!"

Baldy was genuinely disgusted with his two lackeys, silently cursing his bad luck in being assigned these two useless pieces of trash again. He vowed to tell his boss to replace them with two smarter ones next time, or else he would have to be given more supplies as compensation.

Although there was no moonlight tonight, the two of them could still barely see the small vegetable garden full of all kinds of vegetables in the backyard of the Cheng family. Having been hungry for several days, the two of them couldn't help but swallow their saliva.

Clearly, both of them were completely absorbed by the food. If they had looked up and around, they might have noticed two small figures squatting on the roof next to them, and some strange shadows by the opposite wall.

The skinny man walked towards the vegetable patch without thinking, his eyes shining and mouth watering as he said, "I haven't eaten fresh vegetables in so long! Were the Cheng family farmers before? Why do these vegetables look so delicious...?"

"Don't just stand there watching! Hurry up and harvest the vegetables from the field. You're useless trash. Hurry up, I'm going to check the kitchen first!" The bald man impatiently interrupted the skinny man and then walked towards the kitchen.

Upon hearing this, the skinny man outwardly agreed in a flattering manner, but his expression immediately changed as he turned around. He muttered a few curses under his breath, thinking about how he could pocket some of the food for himself, because he knew very well that he would not receive much of the final portion of the food.

If you're unkind, I'll be unkind too. You've worked so hard running around and even got injured, what's wrong with secretly hiding a little bit?

After making up his mind, the skinny guy dawdled as if he was about to harvest the vegetables, while thinking about how to secretly hoard them.

The bald man stood at the kitchen doorway, first cautiously pushing the door open, then peering through the crack. Unfortunately, it was very dark inside, and he could see almost nothing.

Just as I was feeling a little uneasy, I looked up and suddenly saw several things hanging by the window. Although I couldn't see them clearly, I could vaguely make out their outlines. Those were... those were cured meat!

The moment the bald man saw the meat, he forgot all his unease, immediately opened the door, quickly walked to the window, and reached out to take the meat down.

Just then, the skinny man screamed outside. The bald man was startled and was about to turn around when he felt something rushing towards him. He reacted quickly and took a step back to avoid it, but unexpectedly, he slipped and fell to the ground. The moment he hit the ground, something sharp pierced his back and arms, causing him to break out in a cold sweat. Before he could see what it was, he found that he couldn't move his upper body and arms. Then everything went black, and he passed out.

The bald man's last memory before he fell into a coma was the constant screams of the skinny man coming from outside.

"Ruyi, are you alright?" Xu Cui quickly walked out from the corner of the kitchen and asked anxiously.

Cheng Ruyi held a wooden stick, looking down at the little thief lying on the ground, his life hanging in the balance. She calmly replied, "I'm fine," and then took out a rope and began to tie him up.

Practice makes perfect. When Xu Cui saw this, she quickly walked over, deftly untied the thief's waistband and stuffed it into his mouth, then began to help tie him up.

After quickly tying the thief up, the two were about to go into the yard when they heard two barks, "Woof! Woof!" This was their agreed-upon signal; whoever subdued the thief first would use this sound to alert the other.

After hearing the signal, Cheng Ruyi responded twice before opening the kitchen door and going out.

There was a mass of something next to the vegetable garden in the backyard. It looked vaguely like a person lying there, surrounded by three people. It was motionless and silent.

"Mom! We've caught the little thief! Come and see!"

These three people were Cheng Yan, Cheng Yunping, and Cheng Yun'an, and the person who jumped up excitedly and shouted for Cheng Ruyi to come over to see was none other than Yunping.

According to Ruyi's plan, if thieves break into the house during this period, their first target will definitely be the food, so the kitchen and backyard are the key areas for setting traps.

So she deliberately hung a piece of cured meat on the kitchen window as bait, and used a large log tied to the beam as the first wave of attack. If the thief wanted to avoid it, he could only retreat, at which point he would step on the soybeans on the ground and lose his balance and fall to the ground. The poisonous thorns scattered all over the ground would serve as the second wave of attack. If he could avoid that as well, Xu Cui would rush up with a whole basin of red thorns. The kitchen was small, and even if he was very skilled, he would definitely run into the poisonous thorns. As long as the opponent was a little slow, Ruyi, who was hidden in another corner, would tear off the invisibility talisman and go up to hit him with a stick.

The backyard was arranged similarly, with poisonous thorns scattered around the vegetable garden. Once the enemy's movements slowed down, Yunping and Yun'an would drop a rope net from the roof to restrict their movement, and finally Cheng Yan would rush up with a whole basin of red thorns...

If the opponent is just an ordinary petty thief, this level of skill should be more than enough to deal with them. After all, the system wouldn't let them fail miserably. If the situation exceeds their capabilities, they won't be allowed to fight a losing battle.

Clearly, the plan succeeded.

Using a low-grade first-tier spiritual plant to deal with ordinary mortals seems a bit of an overkill.

The thin man lying on the ground was covered by a rope net, his eyes wide open, but his whole body was stiff and he couldn't move.

Huh? Why are there only two people? The system clearly said there were three thieves, where's the third one?
