When they heard that they had to retreat to the secret passage, the crowd became uneasy.
After going through untold hardships, everyone finally arrived at the dock, but who would have thought that the situation inside the dock was not much better than outside.
Thinking about having to hand over grain for this, some villagers began to regret and began to back out in their hearts.
Wei Xiyin didn't have time to care about what those people were thinking. Her mind was in a mess and she just wanted to find her grandfather and the surviving tribesmen as soon as possible.
She walked to the corridor, turned the flowerpot, and reopened the stone door of the secret passage. She glanced casually and found that the bottom of the pot seemed to have been moved.
There were two friction marks on the bottom of the basin, one deep and one shallow. The deep one should be left by her closing the door just now.
"Chang Ying!" Wei Xiyin called out hurriedly.
Chang Ying rushed over immediately. When he saw the two marks on the bottom of the basin, he said in surprise: "Miss, this is... the secret passage must have been opened before."
Could it be that my grandfather escaped with others?
Wei Xiyin's lips curled up slightly, but only for a second, and then the curve of her mouth slowly dropped again.
There are zombies everywhere outside now, it’s not safe at all, where will they go?
A light bulb went off in her head, and she suddenly remembered that Chang Ying had mentioned that her grandfather had a hot spring villa on the mountain.
Wei Xiyin hurriedly said, "Send guards to the hot spring villa to check immediately!"
Chang Ying took the order and left, hurriedly returning to the secret passage with a dozen guards, and went to the villa to investigate in person.
Everyone stayed in the ancestral hall waiting for news.
Wei Xiyin was a little uneasy and kept pacing back and forth in the yard.
Wei Lang's eyes were red from crying, and he followed his sister closely.
Seeing him like this, Wei Xiyin's heart was filled with mixed emotions. She hurriedly pulled him aside and comforted him, "Sister, you're fine. I'm just worried about Grandpa's safety."
Wei Lang opened his eyes, red from crying, and asked in confusion, "Sister, why isn't Grandpa home?"
Wei Xiyin patiently explained, "Because the house is full of monsters now, it's not safe anymore."
When Wei Lang heard that a monster had come to his house, he clenched his fists and volunteered, "Then I'll go out and fight the monster." If his grandfather knew, he would definitely praise him.
Wei Xiyin nodded perfunctorily, not taking it seriously.
After a while, there was really nothing to do.
Wei Xiyin simply walked to the door, lay on it without any image, and observed the movement outside.
There were suddenly so many people in the ancestral hall that the zombies outside had already smelled the scent and began to slowly gather here.
Wherever you look, there are densely packed heads.
Fortunately, the ancestral hall is located on a high ground, and there are ninety-nine stone steps built in front of the door. The steps are narrow and steep, and the zombies whose legs cannot bend in the daytime cannot climb up at all.
Because she had been on the road all the time, she had not had the opportunity to make a more detailed observation and study of the zombies so far.
Everyone stayed in the ancestral hall like this for the whole day.
It was not until the sun set that Chang Ying finally returned.
When Wei Xiyin saw him coming back alone without the guards beside him, her expression changed instantly.
She hurried forward and asked, "How is the situation at the villa? Is Grandfather here? Where are the other guards?"
Asking three questions in a row shows how anxious she is.
"My dear, there are people in the other village. They are the fire sent by the clan." Chang Ying said silently, "I am afraid that something will happen to those children, so I left the guards behind to protect them."
The news came like a bolt from the blue.
Obviously, the situation in the fort was not optimistic. At one point, the tribe members even thought that they would be wiped out, so they urgently sent some of their descendants out of the fort.
And the group of children who were sent out were called sparks.
Wei Xiyin's face turned pale, but she still wanted to ask, "Where are the elders of the clan? Are there no one to protect the children? Do they know anything about their grandfather?"
Chang Ying shook his head. "There are dozens of soldiers and servants in the villa. According to them, the situation was urgent when the incident happened, and a large-scale riot broke out in the fort."
"The children were gathered and sent out urgently. The second elder told them to stay in the other village and to return after the disturbance was quelled. No elders accompanied them, and the head of the family was not seen either."
Chang Ying paused for a moment, "It's been several days now, and no one has come to pick them up. I'm afraid the Patriarch and the others are still in the fort."
As soon as he finished speaking, seeing that Wei Xiyin's face had turned very ugly, Chang Ying hurriedly said, "Don't worry too much, girl. I will take people out to look for them tomorrow. Maybe the master and the others are safe and sound."
It seems that this is the only way.
It was getting dark again. There were more than two hundred people here, including the villagers. The zombies had a keen sense of smell and would find people based on the smell. It was not safe here.
Wei Xiyin had no choice but to take Wei Lang back to the secret passage to hide.
When she entered the secret passage, she seemed to suddenly remember something and stopped in her tracks.
Wei Xiyin stared at the dark entrance to the secret passage and wondered, "Since the situation at the fort is so dire, why don't the elders lead their people into the secret passage for shelter? Or lead all the survivors up the mountain?"
Chang Ying was also stunned.
Yes, there is a way out right in front of us, and the Wei family members are not stupid, so why don’t they leave?
Even if the zombie outbreak happened suddenly, it wouldn't have been so sudden that only a few children were sent away.
unless……
"Unless there is a place to hide in the dock!" Wei Xiyin said firmly.
It must be like this!
A cunning rabbit has three burrows. An old fox like my grandfather would not have left only one way out for his family.
Thinking of this, Wei Xiyin immediately ordered: "Let's go out tomorrow to investigate the number of zombies in the fort. We will first find a way to clear out the zombies outside."
As long as people are still in the dock, they will naturally come out after clearing the zombies.
