Chapter 372 Encounter (Part 3)

"By the way, is Uncle Dong still outside?"

I was so busy reuniting with my sisters that I forgot about Uncle Dong!

Wei Xiyao stood up suddenly. She had just said yesterday that she would be filial to him, but today she had forgotten about him. She felt so ashamed.

"Eldest cousin, fifth cousin, I'm going to go out and take a look." Wei Xiyao hurriedly wanted to go out to look for someone.

Wei Xiyin immediately stood up and said, "It's windy outside, let me go out with you."

As the current leader of the fort, she naturally had to come forward and thank "Uncle Dong" for saving her two cousins.

The moon was dark and the wind was strong, the temperature continued to drop, and the surrounding scene was desolate and dark.

Dong Zhiyao stood outside with a stern face. The strong wind blew his messy hair and beard even more messy, but he was unmoved.

"Uncle Dong!"

Dong Zhiyao heard the shouting but didn't even turn his head.

Wei Xiyao ran up to him, looking apologetic, "I'm sorry, Uncle Dong. I was so happy to meet my fifth cousin today that I neglected you for a moment."

She hurriedly said, "Uncle Dong, go in and rest. You have troops on duty tonight, so just rest well."

The night is dark.

For fear of attracting zombies, no fire was lit in the abandoned village where they temporarily rested.

It was pitch black outside and I could only see a shadow moving around. If I hadn't made any noise, I really wouldn't have known who was standing in front of me.

Wei Xiyin straightened her clothes and followed her cousin out, admiring her for being able to find someone in an instant.

"It is our fault for not coming to greet you in time."

She approached the two and said, "I want to thank this brave man for saving my two sisters. You should go inside and rest. The soldiers are guarding outside."

Dong Zhiyao's expression grew even colder. "Don't worry about me."

Wei Xiyin was suddenly choked. It seemed that Uncle Dong, her sixth cousin, had a bad temper.

"Uncle Dong, it's my fault. Please don't be angry." Wei Xiyao thought she had made him angry.

Dong Zhiyao: "It's none of your business."

Wei Xiyin frowned. It had nothing to do with her cousin. It couldn't be that she had offended him, right?

How could it be possible when they just met for the first time?

Or this person may have a very strange personality and seem difficult to get along with.

After all, he was her sisters' savior, so she slowed down her tone and said, "Look at my cousin. If you don't go in, she won't be able to rest tonight. Dong... Warrior, you should go inside first and talk."

"Yes, Uncle Dong, how can I dare to go in and rest if you are like this?" Wei Xiyao nodded heavily. It took her a moment to react. It was pitch black around her and she couldn't see anything.

Dong Zhiyao's face looked extremely ugly, like a piece of black charcoal, but unfortunately no one noticed.

He turned and strode into the house.

I thought to myself: Let’s see how long it takes you to recognize me!

Wei Xiyin didn't notice it. She gave a few instructions to Qin Shan, who was on duty, and took her sixth cousin into the house to rest.

Night falls and darkness covers the whole world.

The abandoned village where they settled gradually became quiet, with only the soldiers on duty still staying outside.

At some point, a strong wind, mixed with fine snowflakes, began to drift down. In the distance, the faint howling of zombies could be heard, as if the world had been awakened from its slumber...

Not unexpected.

It's snowing.

It only took three days to go from the dry summer to the winter.

Qin Shan silently asked the guards on duty to change into thick clothes. The whistling wind mixed with snowflakes hit his face, and it was as cold and uncomfortable as ice needles piercing his bones.

The guards wore masks to protect their faces from being numbed by the wind.

The next day, the temperature dropped again.

"This is such horrible weather! Two days ago, I was so hot I wanted to take off my clothes, but now I can't wait to wrap myself in the quilt. Does God really want us to live?"

"What's the use of complaining? Let's settle down in Wei's Fort as soon as possible." The common people who were packing up nearby replied.

"This is God's fault. Not only us, but even the Emperor himself would be helpless."

"Yes, there's only a little distance left. Just be patient on the way, and everything will be fine once we get there."

They all saw that the Wei family actually had war horses. Look at the equipment worn by the Wei girl and the soldiers around her. They dared to wander around with people so carelessly. The days in the fortress must be quite good.

Everyone is looking forward to this.

I was glad that I had made the wise decision to follow the young lady and left. I couldn't wait to leave and fly to Ling County.

The team is ready.

We continued on our journey despite the howling wind and snow particles. The zombies we encountered on the road gradually became stronger, and there was no longer any lag when we moved.

Fortunately, everything was within the guards' expectations, and the number of zombies was extremely small, so they could not pose a threat to the team.

Wei Xiyin and her brother were guarding the temporarily modified carriage. The wind was too strong, and she was only focused on getting on with her journey. There were so many people in the team that she didn't notice the resentful looks that came from behind her from time to time.

But Gong Chun noticed it.

Hearing that this man was the savior of the two Wei ladies, he frowned slightly. Could it be that he knew Miss Wei?

In the evening, he found an opportunity to tell Wei Xiyin about this.

"Girls, please be careful to avoid being tricked."

Although that resentful look didn't seem to have any malicious intent, it did seem as if Miss Wei had abandoned him and done something to let him down.

Wei Xiyin was stunned and couldn't help but lower her head in thought.

Logically speaking, the two of them didn't know each other, and they didn't have much interaction along the way because they were hurrying to get there. I didn't do anything to offend him, right?

Could it be that her subordinates did something that displeased him?

"I understand. Thank you Liu Langjun for telling me."

"We still have a few days to go..." Wei Xiyin said, "My sixth cousin told me that 'Uncle Dong' is cold on the outside but warm on the inside. If we accidentally offend him, we can talk it out when we get back to the fort."
