Chapter 38 Gong Liulang

The eight counties of Jizhou were governed in Guangping, north of Qingyang County.

On the plain wilderness near the granary, a group of ragged men were crawling on the ground and struggling to move forward.

The worn and thin clothes could barely cover the body. The freezing wind blew on the skin, making people feel as if the cold was even in their bones.

It’s only October, why is it so cold?

The leading man lay on the ground, rubbing his red, frozen hands. He tilted his head and spat, "Damn it! Is this a world where people are no longer allowed to live?"

"Boss, do we really have to listen to that kid's advice?" The man lying on his right licked his cracked lips and said hesitantly, "If the court finds out..."

Upon hearing this, the man called the boss slapped him hard and said harshly, "You still want to regret it after coming this far?"

"Why don't you think about how many of our brothers died on this trip? If we can't find food, we'll all starve to death!"

The man called the boss was named Tian San. He was strong and brave.

They were originally ordinary farmers in Gaoyi County. There was famine in the past two years, and the court not only did not distribute food to relieve the disaster, but also increased taxes every year.

The high taxes made the people suffer terribly.

The harvest was poor and he could not pay the grain tax. Fearing that he would be arrested and imprisoned, Tian San gathered villagers from several nearby villages and instigated them to join him in going up the mountain to become bandits, specifically robbing caravans and wealthy businessmen passing by.

"What happened to that kid?" Tian San turned his head and looked back, narrowing his eyes slightly, "Is he dead?"

As he looked, at the back of the team, a man with disheveled hair and beard, tied up with ropes, was lying half-dead on the ground.

The man holding the rope heard what Tian San said and kicked the man on the ground in the abdomen, who then cried out in pain.

"Boss, he's not dead."

"If I hadn't seen this kid as useful, I would have killed him with a single blow."

The man on the ground lowered his head, his messy hair hiding his expression. He curled up in a ball, holding his abdomen, and did not respond to what they said.

The group crawled on the ground for a distance and were about to reach the granary when groups of monsters began to appear around them.

Tian San made a gesture, and someone stood up and walked forward cautiously, trying to lead the monsters in front away in batches.

Unexpectedly, he was discovered not long after he stood up.

“Who is it?!”

Tian San was shocked. Is there a living person in the granary?

They were discovered!

………

Wei Xiyin and Qin Shan led fifty elite soldiers wearing armor and went to the granary first.

The terrain near the granary was flat and uncovered, so if one wanted to avoid being discovered, one could only lie on the ground and crawl through the grass.

When the location of the granary could be vaguely seen, Qin Shan made a gesture and everyone immediately stopped moving forward.

Two guards left the team and went to the front to investigate the situation.

The soldiers lying on the ground were dressed in black, covered with silver armor, masks, and complete protective gear. Their equipment looked better than that of the regular army.

Wei Xiyin squatted in the bushes, propping herself up with her arms, staring at the guards behind her and carefully examining them. She frowned and said, "We don't look like bandits with our equipment."

Everyone was silent.

Calling herself a bandit is just a cover. Could it be that the girl really wants to find a mountain to be a bandit?

Originally, the two commanders wanted the girl to stay behind, but the girl firmly disagreed and insisted on moving along.

There were so many of them, and the hundred wooden oxen and flowing horses were too conspicuous, so Chang Ying and others had to stay behind and wait. As soon as they received the signal, they would immediately push out the wooden oxen and flowing horses and go to load the food.

Wei Lang was very unhappy about being separated from his sister and was about to protest.

Chang Ying quickly pulled him back and said, "Second Master, this is a serious matter. If you make a fuss, it might make the girl angry."

Wei Lang blinked, seeming to find the title of "Second in Command" quite new.

Like a child playing role-playing for the first time, he excitedly said, "Yes! I am the second-in-command of Longhu Village."

Chang Ying breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly understood why the girl chose Qin Shan and wanted Erlangjun to follow him.

If it were Qin Shan, he might not be able to deal with Erlang Jun.

The two guards who were exploring the way ahead quickly returned.

One of them hurried back to report: "Master, a small number of zombie corpses appeared ahead, and those zombies were wearing Yizhou Army uniforms."

Wei Xiyin's expression changed slightly. It seemed someone had gotten ahead of them.

Has the food been taken away?

Then she immediately rejected it in her mind.

The Yizhou granary serves three states, and there are at least hundreds of thousands of dan of grain in it. No one has the ability to move all the grain away in a short period of time.

This may be a good thing for them, after all, there is someone to help clean up the zombies.

Thinking of this, her expression softened slightly, "Let's explore again."

Wei Xiyin tapped her fingers lightly, considering whether to try a mantis stalking the cicada while the oriole waits behind.

"yes!"

Wei Xiyin turned around and was about to discuss with Qin Shan, but suddenly noticed that he was not wearing any armor.

"Where's your mail?"

Qin Shan replied slowly, "I gave it to Erlang Jun on Crow Mountain."

Wei Xiyin couldn't help but be stunned. When she saw Wei Lang wearing armor before, she thought he got it from the blacksmith shop before he came out, and didn't pay attention to when Qin Shan gave it to him.

If she had known this earlier, she would have asked Chang Ying to come over.

There's no telling how many zombies are inside, so wearing armor provides an extra layer of protection.

But now they were near the granary and it was too late to change people.
