At night, Wei Xiyin returned to her Chaoxi Courtyard.
Ningshuang had already made the bed and boiled hot water, waiting for the girl to come back.
She has not been idle these days. The tribe has set up two courtyards for the women to do needlework. Now that the weather is getting colder, some old cotton-padded clothes need to be taken apart, re-thickened and sewn, and then distributed to the guards.
The project was so huge that the women in the family were simply unable to handle it.
Ningshuang thought that her needlework skills were okay, and since her daughter and Erlang were not at home, she had nothing to do anyway, so she told Uncle Wu and went to the yard to help every day.
Wei Xiyin had just sat down when the servant at the door came to announce, "Miss, Mr. Chu wants to see you."
She was stunned. Only when she heard the servant mention him did she remember this person. She almost forgot about Chu Yu.
"Go and invite Mr. Chu in." Wei Xiyin hurriedly ordered.
Chu Yu followed the servant silently and entered the Chaoxi Courtyard.
The backyards where the young ladies of aristocratic families lived were private places. Not only were outsiders but even their fathers and brothers rarely set foot there.
When ladies needed to meet guests, they would usually choose the front hall or flower hall. Only close friends could visit their boudoirs.
It seems that Miss Wei is really not particular about details and allows a grown man like her to walk in so openly.
The most incredible thing is that the servants in the house didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with this.
Chu Yu saluted Wei Xiyin without looking away and said with a smile, "Is your trip safe?"
"Thank you for your concern, sir. Everything is going well." Wei Xiyin hurriedly thanked him and asked Ningshuang to pour a cup of hot water for him to warm himself up.
Supplies are scarce these days. My grandfather loves to drink tea, but there isn't much tea left at home. He won't drink tea unless necessary, so there's only hot water in the yard...
Although it was a bit shabby, neither party cared much about it.
It was already late, so Chu Yu didn't bother with any more politeness and asked directly, "Miss, are you going out to look for medicinal herbs tomorrow?"
"Well, we'll set off at dawn tomorrow." Wei Xiyin was not surprised to hear this. The fort was so small that it was not surprising for him to hear the news.
Chu Yu lowered his eyelids slightly, and said with a bow: "I am willing to accompany you and lend a helping hand."
Wei Xiyin finally reacted, her eyes lighting up, "It's good that sir is willing to help." This was a good opportunity to test him.
A counselor is a person who is recruited based on his strategy. He is a person who makes plans and offers advice and has great wisdom. He usually plays a major role on the battlefield.
When she was in Kyoto, she had met several of her grandfather's advisers at home. When her grandfather left Kyoto, he left all those useful people to her father and did not bring any back.
I wonder how Chu Yu compares to them.
It was getting late, and Chu Yu couldn't stay for long. After getting the girl's consent, he was about to say goodbye and leave.
But before he could open his mouth, the servant came to report: "Miss, Commander Chang and Commander Qin are outside the door."
"Bring the person in." She turned to look at Chu Yu, "We need to discuss tomorrow's trip. Sir, please stay and listen."
Are you not going to sleep tonight?
Chu Yu couldn't help but sigh and sat back down.
Chang Ying and Qin Shan came in quickly, and what was unexpected was that Wei Mingze followed behind them.
"Seventh Uncle, why are you here?" Wei Xiyin quickly stood up and greeted him.
Wei Mingze said, "The elders of the three clans were worried that you might become confused due to your concern, so they asked me to come and take a look."
Seeing Chu Yu was also there, Wei Mingze couldn't help but raise his eyebrows. He glanced at several people and seemed to understand something.
Chaoxiyuan was a women's residence after all, and the hall was not big. It was inconvenient for a group of grown men to gather here to discuss things. Wei Xiyin asked Uncle Wu to open her grandfather's study, and the group moved over and sat around the couch.
"Is Wu Niang's target Yongning County?" Wei Mingze asked as soon as he sat down.
Yongning County is closest to Wubao, so the people of Wubao are very familiar with Yongning County.
"Yes." Wei Xiyin nodded in agreement.
Wei Mingze explained, "Yongning County has a population of approximately 30,000 people. It would be very difficult to break into the city and look for medicinal herbs."
"If we force our way in, there will be no guarantee for my niece..." The people in the clan probably didn't know about the fall of Yongning County, so Wei Xiyin quickly told them about it.
Wei Mingze sighed upon hearing this, "No wonder. A few days ago, when the tribesmen went out to cut wood, the guards noticed an increase in the number of zombies nearby. However, there were only a few dozen people left in the fort at the time, and since it was snowing heavily, they didn't send anyone out to investigate."
He pondered for a moment, "So what is Wu Niang going to do?"
Wei Xiyin did not answer, but looked at Chu Yu who was silent beside her, her eyes seemed to say, "You are a counselor, it is your turn to speak now."
Chu Yu understood and said slowly, "Our goal is to get the medicinal herbs, not to kill the zombies. You might as well try to lure the tiger away from the mountain and make a feint to the east and attack in the west."
This Chang Yingshu is familiar, isn't it the method they used to lure the monster out of the fort?
But there is a drawback here. Chang Ying couldn't help but said, "If a large number of zombies go out, the fort will be the first to bear the brunt, which is very disadvantageous to us."
"That's right." Wei Mingze agreed after hearing this. He should not shoot himself in the foot and cut off his own retreat.
Now the tribesmen still need to go out to the mountains. They spent more than ten days clearing out the 3,000 zombies in the fort, let alone these monsters, which are nearly ten times the number.
Chu Yu glanced at them calmly and reminded them, "The county town has two gates."
Yongning County was located in Anping County, and its two city gates—one leading to the Qinghe border and the other to Anping County—were similar. For example, if you draw a straight line on paper and consider it the county seat, the two ends of the line would be the city gates.
"Sir, do you mean to open the gate leading to Anping County and lead all the zombies to Anping County?" Wei Xiyin immediately understood what he meant. "But that won't work. The city gates are locked from the inside. If you want to open the gate to Anping, you have to open it from the inside."
