Chapter 8 Villagers

Yesterday's conversation was interrupted. Chu Yu was not giving up and insisted that she accept these villagers.

Just as expected.

The two villagers were the village head and village chief. Perhaps with Mr. Chu's guidance, they knelt before Wei Xiyin as soon as they entered the dilapidated temple, kowtowed twice, and begged, "Please, girl, take us in!"

The villagers are not stupid. If they stay, they will die. The Wei family is a big family in Yizhou and they have a fort for defense. They can only survive by following the Wei siblings.

This time Wei Xiyin did not refuse and easily agreed to their request.

Chu Yu seemed to have not expected that she would suddenly change her mind, and his expression was slightly surprised. He had thought that it would take some time to persuade her, but he didn't expect it to be so smooth.

"You can follow me, but you have to bring your own food." Wei Xiyin called Cheng Xiu and asked him to bring guards to escort these villagers down the mountain to get food.

We have to arrange everything while the zombies are moving slowly during the day.

Some timid villagers did not dare to go down the mountain, saying that they could dig wild vegetables to fill their stomachs and would never lag behind.

"Why do you think I asked you to prepare food?" Wei Xiyin sneered as she stood at the temple entrance. "The Wei Clan's Fortress is where our Wei clan resides. If outsiders want to enter and ask us to protect them for nothing, they'll have to pay for their safety."

According to what the girl said, we have to pay food to enter the fort!

Some villagers could no longer sit still. There were monsters everywhere outside, and it was not as safe as inside the fort. Besides, their belongings were all at home, and they were worried about it. Now that they had guards escorting them, some of them immediately stood up and prepared to go down the mountain to get food.

The rest of the timid villagers, seeing that their neighbors were already preparing to go down the mountain, ignored their fear and quickly followed the main group.

Chu Yu watched silently from the side and couldn't help but admire in his heart.

Miss Wei was very resourceful. Her move was a combination of kindness and severity. It protected the villagers, and the Wei family gained a good reputation while also getting food.

You have to know that the world is in complete chaos now. The harvest this year is not good, and food will only become more and more expensive. In the future, I am afraid that you won’t be able to buy food even if you have money.

Wei Xiyin turned to look at Chu Yu and asked politely, "When do you plan to leave, sir?"

Chu Yu bowed respectfully to her and said, "I'll leave at noon."

Wei Xiyin showed a regretful expression, "That's really a pity. I can only wish you a safe journey, sir."

She thought for a moment, then said, "If you can bring your family home, you can come to the fort and take refuge there. The Wei family will certainly treat you as a guest of honor."

Chu Yu quickly thanked him modestly.

Seeing that everything was done, he asked to pack his luggage, got up and said goodbye and left the temple.

Wei Xiyin stared at his departing figure, her expression darkening. She rubbed her delicate white hands carefully and muttered to herself, "There's something wrong with this Chu Yu."
