Chapter 80 Lu is not her biological mother

Madam Qin smiled and said, "If you have anything to say, Miss Qingluan, just tell me directly."

"After Miss Chu met at the palace banquet the other day, the Empress was full of praise for her and wanted to bring her together with His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. I heard that Miss Chu is now living in the Marquis Wenning's Mansion, so it's inevitable that she will ask the old lady, her grandmother, to help mediate."

"It's an honor for Yu Shu to have caught the Empress's eye," Old Lady Qin agreed readily. "I'll have the Marquis send a letter to the Chu family. I doubt my son-in-law will refuse such a good marriage."

Qingluan explained everything and then said goodbye.

After she left, Lu showed a reluctant expression, "Mother, if Yu Shu really lets her marry the prince, what will happen to Jin Yan?"

Madam Qin's face immediately turned cold, and she glared at her daughter-in-law and said:

"You are such a narrow-minded woman, you only care about that little bit of dowry. Don't you think about it? If Yu Shu really can marry into the Eastern Palace and become the Crown Princess, how much benefit can our Jiang family, her mother's family, get from it? As for Jin Yan, as long as he can return to the court, he can marry any woman he wants in the future."

Marquis Wen Ning had already discussed this matter with her.

The Chu family has high standards and is aiming for someone who will rule the world in the future. They look down on her eldest grandson and send Chu Yusu to Beijing in order to climb up the social ladder and become a phoenix.

In this situation, a forced melon is not sweet. Even if Jiang Jinyan is forced to marry Chu Yusu by some tricks, the Chu family has more than one daughter, and I am afraid that she will not be willing to do much for her eldest grandson in the future. This is a losing deal.

The younger generation of the Jiang family consists of only males, except for Jiang Xiancao, the legitimate daughter who was not presentable, and Jiang Huaizhu who was executed.

But the path of marriage is like a shortcut. As long as you bet on the right man, you can rise to a high position, and they are jealous.

After much thought, Chu Yuxu, her granddaughter and cousin of the Jiang family, is the best candidate.

"But……"

Mrs. Lu was still unwilling to give in, but Madam Qin raised her hand in a weary manner, "I'm tired, please leave. If you have the time, you might as well think about how to teach your disobedient daughter."

After Lu gritted her teeth and walked out of the main hall, Madam Qin's concubine, Madam Shu, stepped forward and patted her shoulder. "Old Madam, this First Madam is really something! If she could only show a bit of motherly care, she would surely be able to make the Second Young Lady change her mind. But why can't she do that?"

Old Madam Qin raised her lips mockingly:

"Perhaps because Jiang Xiancao is not her biological child, the so-called blood connection is fake. Even if she doesn't know, she has no instinctive closeness to this daughter. She only values a son who can become an official and carry on the family line. Of course, she can't pretend to be a loving mother in front of her daughter."

Aunt Shu rolled her eyes and complimented:

"You are so experienced that you can see through all these things."

Madam Qin sighed softly, feeling somewhat emotional:

“I can’t see through everything.

When Mrs. Lu was pregnant and gave birth to a daughter, the baby was stillborn. And that woman also gave birth to a daughter at the same time.

I ordered someone to bring the daughter born by that woman back to the Marquis's Mansion and pass her off as Mrs. Lu's daughter. However, the wet nurse in Mrs. Lu's room used some trickery and switched her own daughter with this girl, which led to all the trouble that followed.

Now it seems that all these coincidences are fate."

Aunt Shu thought of that summer seventeen years ago and sighed as well:

"Old Madam, it was thanks to your decisive action that we were able to suppress that incident. If it weren't for you, our Wen Ning Marquisate would have been exposed long ago, and the Jiang family wouldn't be where they are today."

Madam Qin's expression changed, and she said in a deep voice:

"The servants who knew about this incident have all died long ago. You have been with me since childhood, and I am certain that you will not betray me, so I have kept you."

"Yes, I will take this secret to my grave and will never tell anyone until I die!" Madam Shu quickly expressed her loyalty.

Only then did Old Madam Qin's expression soften.

She thought to herself, you get what you sow. Jiang Xiancao's current capricious and unruly personality is all because of that woman.

Even though that woman had died long ago, she was still harming her son and dragging down the entire Jiang family.

Outside the door, Jiang Jinyi, who was about to enter the main hall to pay his respects to Old Madam Qin, was stunned.

What? Mrs. Lu isn't Jiang Xiancao's biological mother?!

And the way the grandmother talked about this matter made it seem as if she didn't consider Jiang Xiancao her own granddaughter at all.

He used to think that his grandmother didn't really disregard Jiang Xiancao, but was just being particularly strict with her because she was disappointed in her.

Now it seems that the old lady really dislikes her granddaughter and treats her differently.

She even allowed Jiang Huaizhu to bully her and the servants treated her harshly.

He looked around and didn't see any maids or servants, so he tiptoed out of Madam Qin's yard.

After he walked away, the maids and servants who had been sent away by Old Madam Qin came back and just missed him.

Jiang Jinyi returned to his room, thinking about this matter restlessly.

In fact, he had been feeling somewhat guilty towards Jiang Xiancao for some time.

Thinking of the injustices Jiang Xiancao suffered in the Marquis' Mansion, he couldn't help but think of his own situation as a illegitimate child, and suddenly he felt a sense of sympathy for his cousin, whom he had never taken seriously before.

He also hated his grandmother's favoritism.

Why were both he and Jiang Jinyan suspended from office, but his grandmother only thought about reinstating Jiang Jinyan and never gave him any consideration?

So much so that at one moment, he had an idea:

What would happen if he told this secret secretly?
