Chapter 103 One After Another

The tree in front of us started to move strangely.

First, the tree trunk began to vibrate strangely, looking like a person shivering, and the vibration became more and more intense. Wang Lan and Sun Muchen had never seen such a phenomenon before, and they were dumbfounded for a moment.

As the tree trunk continued to vibrate, the branches also swayed violently, with a very large amplitude. Wang Lan and Sun Muchen could only hear a series of cracking sounds as the branches broke and fell to the ground.

"What's going on here?"

Wang Lan was completely dumbfounded. It seemed that after entering this dense forest, nothing ever happened according to common sense.

Sun Muchen suddenly realized, and was extremely surprised, "Could it be that the old tree has become a spirit?"

Wang Lan immediately rolled her eyes at her, ready to retort, but then she thought about it again. Sun Muchen's ability to manipulate objects remotely was already very abnormal. For a mere tree to become a spirit, especially given the context of the strange events, Wang Lan suddenly felt that it wasn't impossible. Thinking this way, Wang Lan also accepted the possibility of the old tree becoming a spirit.

I just don't know if it's real or fake sperm?

But the tree was shaking even more violently.

The brother and sister looked and saw that the tree seemed to be shaking so badly that it was leaving afterimages, and all the branches had been shaken off and fallen to the ground, leaving only a bare trunk. However, the intensity of the shaking was clearly slowing down.

The afterimage disappeared, and the shape of the tree trunk became clearer.

Wang Lan frowned.

He discovered that this tree trunk differed from other tree trunks not only in color and thickness, but also in shape.

It looks like an old tree that's about to die...

"Brother...something's not right!" Sun Muchen said, "This big tree looked so lush and green just now, but now that the leaves are gone, it looks like it's dead."

If Sun Muchen could see it, how could Wang Lan not see it?

However, the tree's appearance was truly bizarre, and coupled with the strange things that had happened along the way, Wang Lan had no choice but to proceed with caution.

He walked over slowly, gripping the Vajra Umbrella tightly in his hand.

As he gradually approached the tree trunk, he noticed out of the corner of his eye the branches that had fallen to the ground. All the leaves on them had been shaken off, leaving only bare branches, haphazardly piled together, like a heap of discarded firewood.

However, these very branches seemed to have moved slightly without anyone noticing.

Wang Lan raised an eyebrow.

There's not even a breeze right now.

Why are these tree branches moving?

Sun Muchen, who was behind her, saw this scene and was also incredulous. But then a sudden thought flashed through her mind, and Sun Muchen shouted, "Brother!"

"What?" Wang Lan was taken aback and turned to look at Sun Muchen.

Sun Muchen exclaimed, "Come back quickly! We've disturbed the stick insects' nest!"

"Stick insect?"

Wang Lan had never heard of such a thing.

Just as he finished speaking, the tree trunk in front of him completely stopped trembling and slowly turned around.

But it looks exactly the same from all sides!

Wang Lan saw that the tree trunk had been completely turned around, but he couldn't see any difference. Strangely, the branches growing on the trunk began to sway in a strange way, as if a person was baring their teeth and claws!

"Holy crap, it's practically a spirit!"

Wang Lan screamed in fright and quickly backed away, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in his ankles. He looked down and saw that several tree branches were cutting his ankles.

Wang Lan raised the Vajra Umbrella and swept it downwards, knocking the branches away to the side.

Sun Muchen rushed over and pulled Wang Lan back.

"Damn it, there's a demonic aura!" That was Wang Lan's first words upon seeing Sun Muchen.

“That’s not demonic energy!” Sun Muchen explained, “It’s stick insects! They are famous masters of disguise in the insect world. They often disguise themselves as plants, branches or leaves, and they can even change their body color according to the differences in light, humidity and temperature, so that they can completely blend into their surrounding environment. With so many stick insects, I think we must have disturbed their nest!”

Wang Lan was completely confused. "You shouldn't be explaining things now!"

But then Sun Muchen continued, "Don't worry, brother, stick insects are vegetarians, they don't eat meat. As long as we don't provoke them, they shouldn't do anything to us."

"Are you sure?" Wang Lan pointed to her ankle with a look of surprise.

The wound caused by the stick insect was still bleeding.

Sun Muchen: "......"

"It seems the mutation has changed the nature of these insects!"

"Stop talking nonsense!" Wang Lan said, "Let's think about how to get out of this hellhole first, otherwise we'll definitely not survive!"

Sun Muchen nodded, but suddenly Wang Lan pushed him away. At the same time, Wang Lan also kicked his legs backward. Where they had been standing, the forelegs of a giant stick insect fell from the sky, like a sharp sword, and pierced into the ground!

Sun Muchen instantly understood Wang Lan's intention. He made up his mind and sent blue light flowing from his fingertips toward the stick insect's forelegs. Unexpectedly, the blue light seemed to vanish like smoke as the stick insect pulled its forelegs up.

"Save your energy!"

Wang Lan lightly touched the ground with his feet, grabbed the Vajra Umbrella, and charged forward, then unleashed a powerful sweeping attack.

"Bang!"

A crisp sound.

The stick insect's forelimbs were severed by the giant umbrella.

Compared to herring beetles, stick insects are incredibly fragile and vulnerable.

Seeing the stick insect's trunk-like body fall to one side, Wang Lan quickly walked to Sun Muchen's side, helped him up, and said, "Don't linger, let's go! There seems to be something else around here!"

Sun Muchen was taken aback. "There's more?"

Then, a "whoosh" sound was heard in mid-air.

The two immediately turned their heads and saw a thin white thread shooting through the air, sticking perfectly to the stick insect. Following the direction from which the white thread came, they saw a huge, hairy spider flitting and flying through the forest, heading this way.

Wang Lan immediately pulled Sun Muchen up, "Quick, quick, we don't have much time left."

But no sooner said than done, a "whooshing" sound came from the sky. The brother and sister looked up and found that the sound came from a huge butterfly. Its wings were like two black doors, and its legs were longer and stronger than a person's.

Sun Muchen felt a chill run down his spine. "We're doomed! This is really a meeting of insects!"

However, the word "了" had just been uttered.

The ground suddenly began to tremble.

A huge tail spike emerged from the ground.

Wang Lan and Sun Muchen were immediately taken aback.

Tail stinger?!

Isn't that something only scorpions have?
