Chapter 127 The Big Tree

Where can he take us?

Wang Lan turned around and said.

Sun Muchen shook his head. "Who would know? But this vine is really strange. I thought it was going to kill me, but it was just pretending."

"Hmm?" Wang Lan asked in confusion, "Just putting on an act? So it seems that the vines didn't attack me just now, they were just spinning around me."

Sun Muchen was taken aback. "Me too."

"That's really strange!" Wang Lan said in confusion, "Why is that? Before, they were pressing us relentlessly, and those tree roots looked like they were going to turn us into mincemeat, but why are they helping us restore our energy now?"

"I don't understand..." Sun Muchen had now fully recovered. She got up and walked to Wang Lan's side, looked down, and after a moment, exclaimed in shock, "Are these vines going to kill us by making us fall?"

"What?"

Wang Lan was also taken aback. Although Sun Muchen's deduction was not very likely to be correct, falling from that height would definitely be fatal.

“Don’t be so scared, brother,” Sun Muchen patted Wang Lan on the shoulder, “I was just kidding. If we were going to fall, we would have died by now.”

Wang Lan rolled her eyes at her.

Sun Muchen continued, "Brother, do you think there were really some strange and supernatural things in the world before the anomaly?"

"Hmm?" Wang Lan pondered for a moment and said, "Why would you say that?"

Sun Muchen said, "After you left the safe zone, I suddenly started to question some of the things I read in books. Think about it, the final fortress can be considered a product of technology. Everything, including the infected we've seen, can actually be explained by science. So what about this forest?"

Sun Muchen pointed downwards and said, "From the very first tree root we came into contact with, we can see that it's as if it has come to life. Have you ever seen a tree root that's less than knee-deep jumping around and even exploding? And these vines are the same; they seem to have a spirit. Including my skills, everything seems to have broken through the realm of science and is becoming more and more mystical."

“You’re right,” Wang Lan nodded and said, “Especially the fact that these vines replenish our energy is really too mystical. I think I’ve read about it in one of your books. It’s called… yes, healer’s healing!”

Upon hearing this, Sun Muchen's features immediately contorted. "What? Bro, what healer? Healer?"

“Uh… it’s just an adjective,” Wang Lan said. “But judging from the current situation, these vines shouldn’t hurt us anymore. But what is their purpose?”

"Could it be..." Sun Muchen narrowed his eyes, "Could it be that it wants to turn us into fertilizer? They say humans are the best fertilizer!"

Wang Lan: "..."

"You'd better not say anything," Wang Lan turned Sun Muchen's head to the side, then spat, "Pah, you jinx!"

Sun Muchen reluctantly said, "How did I jinx it? It's a fact that human flesh and blood are the best nourishment!"

"Shut up! I'll kick you if you say another word!"

Wang Lan spat at her again, then focused intently on looking down, before looking up at the sky.

The sky above was a deep, dark green, somewhat resembling the color of the forest below.

Is there any relationship between these two?

As Wang Lan was pondering this, he suddenly felt Sun Muchen patting his arm from behind and saying, "Brother, damn it, brother, look!"

Wang Lan was stunned. He never expected that his younger sister would learn to swear. He was immediately filled with anger and was about to turn around and scold her.

But as soon as he turned his head, Wang Lan froze in shock.

Before them, in the direction the vines had carried them, lay a vast, all-encompassing black curtain.

The black curtain seemed to pierce straight into the clouds, connecting the two dark green expanses of sky and earth, and the black curtain inexplicably gave people a sense of oppression.

The brother and sister both felt their breathing become rapid.

Wang Lan rubbed his face and picked up the Vajra Umbrella.

Sun Muchen was taken aback. "Brother, what use is the Vajra Umbrella to you now? Are you just going to break the vines and fall down to your death?"

Wang Lan turned her head and rolled her eyes at her. "Then what's the point of you drawing your bow and nocking an arrow? To swing on a swing with a rope and an arrow?"

Sun Muchen paused, then silently put away his longbow and returned the arrows to his quiver.

Wang Lan also silently carried the Vajra Umbrella on her back.

Then he looked at Sun Muchen, puzzled, "Are you using your skill to go into the darkness and become a light source?"

Sun Muchen: "..."

“We have to take some measures,” Sun Muchen said. “Are we just going to wait to die?”

"We might not die," Wang Lan said. "Let's wait and see!"

Sun Muchen sighed, "I can only hope that my passive skill 'Good Luck' will help us get through this difficult time!"

“Shut up,” Wang Lan said. “Your luck skill hasn’t worked since you left the beginner village.”

Sun Muchen: "..."

They were getting closer and closer to the darkness.

They then discovered that the black curtain was not pure black; it only appeared black due to the distance and the white mist swirling around it. In reality, the black curtain was brown.

As they get closer to the brown curtain, the brown curtain appears larger and larger in their eyes.

This creates a visual illusion, as if they are not moving, and the sepia curtain is constantly expanding.

But this brown curtain is really huge.
