Sun Muchen's words gave Wang Lan a way out, and he followed up by saying, "Sigh, did I make a mistake? I really just wanted to see what these people were made of, but I didn't expect to be careless and hit them too hard."
“Uh…” Chen Bihua scratched the back of his head and then nodded.
Wang Lan didn't want to linger on this topic any longer, so she added, "By the way, I'm planning to take a walk up the mountain, around the village, and see what the terrain is like here."
Chen Bihua was initially bewildered and confused by Wang Lan's sudden actions, but upon hearing Wang Lan's words, she immediately laughed and said, "Great! It's wonderful that you're thinking of our village like this! I'll go with you!"
Wang Lan nodded.
At this moment, Sun Muchen suddenly said, "Hey, brother, since you're going to go for a walk anyway, why don't you bring the kids along?"
"Hmm?" Chen Bihua asked in confusion, "Should we bring the children along? Aren't they supposed to be in class?"
Sun Muchen said, “As the saying goes, ‘What you learn from books is never enough; you must put it into practice to truly understand.’ As far as I know, these children rarely go out into the wild for training. But theoretical knowledge is just theory. So I thought, since my brother is protecting them anyway, why not let them go with us? Consider it a practical lesson, and they can also learn about this village.”
“That’s true,” Chen Bihua said, “but what if there really is any danger... these children are the future hope of Hope Village.”
"Don't worry!" Sun Muchen patted his chest and assured him, "My brother and I are going together, there definitely won't be any problems!"
"All right."
Hearing Sun Muchen say that, Chen Bihua didn't know what else to say, so she could only nod in agreement and then go into the school to organize the students.
Why would you want them to go together?
After Chen Bihua left, Wang Lan asked Sun Muchen.
Sun Muchen laughed and said, "There's no reason why. I just thought it would be boring for them to study here every day, so I thought I'd take them out for a walk. Even if they encounter any wild beasts or monsters, we can help them fend them off, right?"
“Heh...you’re really confident,” Wang Lan said. “I just didn’t want Chen Bihua to keep harping on those remnants of the defense force, so I just said it casually. You actually took it seriously. I don’t care. If we really encounter some monster, I won’t care about them.”
“There are no monsters,” Sun Muchen said. “I’ve inquired beforehand. Most of the wild animals around here are wild boars and bears, just the small fry we’ve encountered before. There are no pythons, wolf packs, or anything like that.”
At this point, Sun Muchen asked curiously, "I'm actually a little puzzled. Why would you suddenly want to try out the defense team? Is there something wrong?"
“There’s nothing there,” Wang Lan said.
Sun Muchen scoffed, "I don't believe you!"
But she didn't press the matter further.
After a while, Chen Bihua had finished organizing all the students in the senior class.
They looked at Wang Lan with a mixture of anticipation, admiration, and a touch of fear on their faces.
There were 23 people in total, and two teachers were selected to lead the group.
Including the brother and sister and Chen Bihua herself.
They then formed a team of 28 people.
Originally, Chen Bihua wanted to send out a few members of the defense team who knew how to shoot to protect the children, but after Wang Lan's antics, the defense team was basically exhausted and they all went home to rest and recuperate.
So the group of 28 people walked up the mountain along the village.
Hope Village is surrounded by mountains, and there aren't many trees. Walking through it, you realize it's not as lush as you've imagined.
Instead, weeds grew rampant, making a rustling sound as you walked on them.
The brother and sister and village chief Chen Bihua walked ahead to clear the way, followed by a teacher.
The students stood in four vertical rows, with another teacher at the back.
Along the way, Chen Bihua introduced Wang Lan to the village's situation, the terrain of each hill, the wild animals that might appear, and the defensive fortifications of the garrison.
The two teachers explained the names of the various trees to the students, as well as survival skills in the wild.
But unlike Chen Bihua,
The two teachers' voices trembled as they feared that two or three monsters might suddenly rush out of the woods. It wasn't that they didn't believe in Wang Lan's strength; in fact, after witnessing the aura Wang Lan had just displayed, they regarded him as almost a god. However, the terrifying impression left by the wild beasts and monsters was indelible and hard to shake off.
Especially the teachers who walked at the very back.
He looked back every three steps and gazed around every five steps.
Wang Lan, who was walking ahead, felt that her ears were about to fall off from listening to Chen Bihua's incessant chatter. She would occasionally turn around to look at the two teachers, a smile playing on her lips.
Sun Muchen laughed and said, "So, brother, don't you also think this kind of life is great?"
Wang Lan was taken aback for a moment, then said, "It's alright."
"Tch, I can see the faint smile on your lips."
Wang Lan rolled her eyes at him and said, "I was looking at these students. Some of them seem to be older than you, but you still keep calling them students."
“A learned person is the greatest!” Chen Bihua, seeing that the brother and sister were ignoring her, quickly interjected, “Teacher Sun is very knowledgeable and deserves our respect.”
Wang Lan glanced at him and nodded.
With a smile on her face, Chen Bihua said, "Look, the hill we've come to now is the second highest hill in Hope Village. From here, we can overlook the entire village. This is a key point for our defense team's daily patrols."
