Wang Lan looked completely bewildered and asked Nan Chen, "Why are you so surprised?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Nan Chen's surprised expression quickly turned into one of disgust and contempt. He turned his head away and completely ignored Wang Lan again.
Wang Lan was completely bewildered.
What's going on?
"Tsk tsk tsk," Wang Lan muttered under his breath, "Why is this little girl being so sarcastic?"
"What did you say?"
Nan Chen suddenly turned his head and glared fiercely at Wang Lan.
"snort!"
Wang Lan, mimicking Nan Chen, turned her head away and ignored her.
Nan Chen gritted his teeth, suppressing his anger, and limped forward.
Whether intentionally or unintentionally, Wang Lan moved with light steps, even skipping around, displaying remarkable liveliness.
Nan Chen was furious, but he was injured, otherwise he would have pulled out his dagger and stabbed Wang Lan to death.
The two continued walking forward.
This time, neither of them paid any attention to the other, and they remained silent to each other. Even so, Wang Lan would still glance at Nan Chen intentionally or unintentionally. When Nan Chen noticed Wang Lan looking at her and looked back, Wang Lan would be stunned for a moment, then turn her head away and let out a heavy "humph".
The contempt on Nan Chen's face intensified.
"abnormal!"
"Huh?" Wang Lan looked at Nan Chen. "What did you say?"
Nan Chen rolled her eyes at him and said, "You know perfectly well what's going on, so why pretend you don't!"
Wang Lan was dumbfounded. "What do I understand? Why am I pretending to be confused?"
"If you don't understand and aren't confused, why were you trembling just now?"
Wang Lan stared wide-eyed, his face filled with disbelief. He said, "So what if I'm trembling? Is it wrong for me to tremble?"
As she spoke, Wang Lan suddenly exerted all her strength, and shuddered again. Then she said, "Is it not allowed that I shuddered again?"
Nan Chen's anger was evident. He snorted and said, "You, you are simply unreasonable!"
Wang Lan was completely baffled. He stared blankly at Nan Chen, his face full of confusion. "What's wrong with me?"
But Nan Chen was clearly too lazy to pay attention to him. She stubbornly limped forward, and although her steps were unsteady, she was still very hardworking. Her appearance made Wang Lan laugh.
Nan Chen stopped in his tracks upon hearing Wang Lan's laughter, turned around, and glared at him angrily.
Wang Lan caught up with him in a few steps, then asked, "Is it because I'm trembling that you're like this?"
Nan Chen's expression changed upon hearing this, and he snorted again. Wang Lan immediately said, "Stop snorting, I'm asking you a question!"
Nan Chen replied, "Yes!"
"Heh...you're quite an interesting person!" Wang Lan chuckled and asked, "Tell me, is there anyone very important to you?"
Nan Chen frowned.
“It seems there isn’t any,” Wang Lan continued. “You’re a very unpredictable person, so I don’t think you can take anyone too seriously. Let me tell you, when you meet someone very important, even if you’re not together, you’ll still feel their every move and their concern for you. Especially when they’re in danger, in trouble, or need you, you’ll definitely sense it!”
At this point, Wang Lan suddenly sighed and continued, "Just like I did just now."
Nan Chen's expression softened considerably, perhaps because Wang Lan's words had touched her, especially the phrase "You will definitely sense something!"
Nan Chen instantly understood why Wang Lan was trembling.
"You...met someone like that?"
"She is my sister."
Wang Lan answered.
Nan Chen had heard about Wang Lan's sister from the Holy Envoy; she was said to be a powerful figure, even stronger than Wang Lan.
“She must be in trouble,” Wang Lan said, sounding somewhat dejected. “I can sense that she needs me more than ever now, and I’ve never been apart from her for so long. I promised her that I would make sure she was alright in this apocalypse and that I would protect her, but I wasn’t there when I could feel that she needed me.”
When Wang Lan said these words, Nan Chen suddenly felt that Wang Lan was different. There was no longer any dislike or disgust as before. Instead, there was a sense of care, love and responsibility from an older brother towards his younger sister.
“Let’s go,” Wang Lan waved his hand and said, “Let’s go find that stone man and see if he can heal you.”
Nan Chen nodded. She felt she could understand Wang Lan's anxiety at this moment. She was human too, and although she was usually cold and aloof, she wanted to say a few words to comfort Wang Lan.
But then Wang Lan added, "Otherwise, bringing along a cripple like you would be too much of a hassle."
Nan Chen: "..."
The initial goodwill vanished in an instant.
Disgust returned with a vengeance following Wang Lan's words...
She caught up with Wang Lan.
Keep walking forward.
More and more sounds gradually emerged from the forest.
The sound was like that of a mosquito, seemingly hidden in a corner, watching the man and woman.
In short, it's not so quiet anymore.
Wang Lan walked ahead, carefully looking around. His gaze kept lingering on the stones. For him, regardless of whether the red crystal called the Crimson Mark could cure Nan Chen, finding the stone man as soon as possible would undoubtedly increase his chances of leaving this place.
Ever since Wang Lan was startled and sensed that Sun Muchen was in trouble, his anxiety had not stopped. He immediately regretted coming out with the Holy Envoy and the others and leaving Sun Muchen for so long.
