Chapter Eighty-Seven: Escape

When Lao Zhang helped Sun Muchen up.

The first thing he saw was Sun Muchen's pale face.

Even so, Sun Muchen kept muttering Wang Lan's name.

But at that moment, a rumbling tremor began beneath their feet.

That was a giant infected creature whose eyeballs had been pierced by Wang Lan. Two tentacles suddenly extended from its eye sockets, tearing through the skin and flesh around the eye sockets, leaving it bloody.

The giant infected looked like it was in great pain. It simply reached out and grabbed the tentacle, letting the tentacle grind its palm raw, the spikes covered with bits of flesh. But the giant infected's hand tightened, the muscles in its arms tensed, and it suddenly pulled the tentacle out of its eye socket.

Thick blood gushed from his eyes and flowed down his cheeks.

The giant infected seemed to have entered a state of frenzy, its body trembling violently. The pain of its torn eyeballs caused it to pound the ground with its fists. Wang Lan instinctively sensed that the giant infected was emanating a strong aura of danger.

After venting its anger by punching the ground several times, the giant infected charged toward Wang Lan.

This charge, carrying endless pressure, made Wang Lan tremble all over. The healing of his injuries ignited the fighting spirit within him. But then, the giant infected suddenly turned to the side and actually adopted a collision stance.

Wang Lan's warlike passion instantly cooled down. Seeing the giant infected getting closer and closer, Wang Lan quickly dodged to the side, feeling a fierce gust of wind blow past him.

The giant infected, unable to stop its momentum, charged forward and crashed directly into a huge stone pillar in front of it, breaking the pillar in two.

The moment the stone pillar collapsed with a deafening roar.

Wang Lan saw the ceiling above vibrate, and he instantly realized that this was a main pillar.

The final fortress itself is a bunker, and it bears a huge weight on top. The role of this main pillar is self-evident. Wang Lan quickly stepped forward to attack the giant infected, intending to attract its attention.

But the giant infected was faster than him, picking up a fragment of a stone pillar and throwing it at Wang Lan. Fortunately, Wang Lan reacted quickly, bending his knees and sliding on the ground while bending backward. The fragment of the stone pillar flew past Wang Lan.

He immediately stood up, tensed his leg muscles, jumped up, aimed at the giant infected's other eye, and was about to throw a punch.

Unexpectedly, the giant infected reached out and grabbed him. The immense force from the giant infected's hand acted on Wang Lan's entire body, making him feel as if he was about to be crushed by the giant infected, and he couldn't breathe for a moment.

The giant infected waved its hand and threw Wang Lan away.

Wang Lan was sent flying backward, rolling several times on the ground before finally standing up again. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and looked up at the giant infected.

The giant infected looked around, its eyes darting about, seemingly unsure of what it was looking at. The next moment, the giant infected picked up a fragment of a stone pillar beside it and threw it haphazardly in all directions.

Wang Lan hurriedly dodged, finally realizing the terrifying nature of this giant infected being. It was something he couldn't possibly contend with. Amidst the boulders raining down, he could only dodge, utterly powerless to resist.

The stone pillar was already enormous, and when it was thrown by the giant infected, it was like a cannonball. Wang Lan could only hear the deafening roar, but he didn't have time to see where the stone pillar fragments were hitting. As the giant infected smashed the stone pillar, the ground beneath his feet seemed to tremble.

Finally, the giant infected had thrown away all the boulder fragments. Wang Lan stopped, panting heavily and sweating profusely. He landed on the ground, his eyes fixed on the giant infected's menacing fists, while he heard a creaking sound.

Wang Lan frowned, turned her head to look, and then her eyes widened in surprise.

The giant infected didn't just randomly throw stone pillar fragments; instead, it smashed them all onto the other main pillars in the room, creating dense cracks in each one, making them teeter on the brink of collapse and seemingly unable to support the upper structure.

Wang Lan turned to look at the giant infected again, and he suddenly realized that the giant infected seemed to want to cause the entire bunker to collapse!

Wang Lan immediately felt a chill run from head to toe.

Meanwhile, the giant infected was relentlessly bombarding the main pillars. As one stone pillar after another was smashed and broken by the giant infected, the rumbling sounds rose and fell, echoing in everyone's ears.

Wang Lan's heart raced. She looked around but couldn't find the exit of the room. In the end, she could only focus her gaze on the ceiling, on the hole that had been smashed down by the giant infected.

No sooner said than done, Wang Lan rushed toward the pit in the roof, and the giant infected noticed him and immediately headed toward him as well.

This was exactly what Wang Lan wanted to do.

The opening in the roof was nearly twenty meters above the ground. Wang Lan knew he couldn't jump up on his own; he would need to use the giant infected as a springboard.

So, as the giant infected rushed towards him, he suddenly bent down and slid between the giant infected's legs, then leaped up, stepping onto the giant infected's back. His body shot upwards, heading towards the cave entrance. He grabbed a broken steel bar in the interlayer, pulled hard, and began to climb upwards.

Between each level of the bunker, there was a mezzanine of nearly ten meters. Wang Lan had to climb up as quickly as possible, so when he entered the mezzanine, he began to climb upwards with all his might. Fortunately, the mezzanine had many ravines due to the fall of the giant infected, so it was not difficult for Wang Lan to climb up.

Sun Muchen, who was in the upper factory, raised his eyes slightly and saw Wang Lan crawl out of the pit. But before he could be happy, he saw Wang Lan's figure suddenly plummet downwards.

But the giant infected also jumped up and grabbed Wang Lan's leg.

Wang Lan was currently gripping a steel bar about the size of an arm, but the giant infected was extremely heavy and was constantly pulling Wang Lan downwards. Although Wang Lan held on tightly to the steel bar, the combined force of the two forces caused the steel bar to bend and even crack.

Wang Lan's pupils contracted instantly. He realized that the steel bars wouldn't hold for much longer, so he desperately tried to climb up. However, the giant infected's strength was increasing, which made even reaching out his hand consume a lot of his strength.

Just as the crack in the steel bar was widening and about to be completely torn apart, a layer of blue light appeared before my eyes, then covered my body and flowed downwards.

When the blue light touched the giant infected's hand that was gripping Wang Lan's foot, the light began to twist violently. Wang Lan watched as the giant infected's arm was torn apart inch by inch by the intense light until the bare white bone was exposed.

With a loud "bang!"

The bones were shattered.

Wang Lan also felt a lightness in her body.
