Chapter Fifteen: Firearms, Thunderclaps! (shuhaige.net)

This was Wang Lan's first direct confrontation with such a powerful animal as an eagle.

The mutated eagle meat is considered an exquisite delicacy, and even the final fortress trades it for a high price, but few hunters would hunt eagles.

Because of its enormous size, formidable fighting power, and agile reflexes, it can inflict heavy losses on groups of hunters, with nine out of ten dying and one being seriously injured.

When the effort and reward are not balanced, the eagle's name is removed from the hunter's hunting list, or even avoided altogether.

Wang Lan knew the terror of eagles, and now, having been infected by the virus, her abilities had reached a new level.

He dared not slack off at that moment, and could only concentrate and focus. He saw the eagle swooping down quickly, its wingspan reaching more than ten meters, as if a mountain was pressing down on Wang Lan.

Wang Lan's heart was in his throat. For a moment, he didn't know where to attack the eagle, and could only rely on instinct to open the Vajra Umbrella to make a defensive move.

So the eagle crashed into the Vajra Umbrella.

Wang Lan felt an immense force coming from the umbrella. His hands, which were gripping the handle tightly, were almost broken by the force. He was thrown backward and crashed heavily into the wall. He felt a sweet taste in his throat and coughed up blood.

"elder brother--"

Hearing the sound from behind, Sun Muchen shouted anxiously.

The sound attracted the eagle, which turned its huge head back to look at Sun Muchen, as if it were about to pounce.

But why would Wang Lan give him that opportunity?

So he ran up in two strides, wielding his Vajra Umbrella, and plunged it into the eagle's feathers.

The eagle immediately let out a deep roar, clearly enraged by this species different from itself. With a swing of its massive body, it flung Wang Lan away, and the Vajra Umbrella rolled to the side with him.

Wang Lan was thrown around so hard he was dizzy and seeing stars. It felt like all the bones in his body were broken. But just then, a loud bang suddenly erupted from the eagle's head. Wang Lan clutched his stomach and looked to the side, only to see a small mushroom cloud rising from the eagle's head.

Old Zhang and Fatty made their move.

Knowing that it was impossible to remain unscathed in this situation, they had no choice but to join the battle. So they quickly took out a sack of explosives, lit them, and threw them at the eagle as if they were free.

The power of firearms is indeed several levels greater than that of cold weapons. Explosions rang out one after another near the eagle's head, causing the eagle to scream incessantly. Its feathers were also ignited, and the smell of burning filled the air.

As Lao Zhang and Fatty continued to bombard the enemy, their powerful firepower forced the eagle into retreat, gradually dispelling their fear.

Seeing that the eagle's body had been blown to pieces, Wang Lan gritted his teeth, stood up, and charged towards the eagle.

Upon seeing this, Old Zhang and Fatty immediately stopped, but they held matches and explosives in their hands, ready to strike.

Wang Lan rushed to the eagle's side, while Sun Muchen behind him had already grabbed the Vajra Umbrella and shouted, "Brother! Catch the umbrella!"

With that, the Vajra Umbrella flew out of his hand. Wang Lan stepped on the eagle's claws and leaped high into the air. In mid-air, he caught the Vajra Umbrella in his hand, and the eagle's head reappeared in his sight, pecking down fiercely at him.

Wang Lan never expected the eagle to be so tenacious. Despite the barrage of thunder, it was able to put up a quick counterattack. Helpless, Wang Lan held the Vajra Umbrella horizontally in front of him, barely managing to block the eagle's beak attack. However, his arms trembled, and he almost lost his grip on the umbrella.

Although Wang Lan wasn't a seasoned veteran, he had honed his skills through hunting. He suppressed the immense pain emanating from his arms and, as he fell, plunged the Vajra Umbrella into the eagle's chest, tearing through its flesh from top to bottom, causing blood to gush out.

The "Bloodlust" skill demonstrated its powerful regenerative ability at this moment. As Wang Lan disemboweled the eagle, a continuous stream of power returned to his body. As Wang Lan fell, he used both hands to push the Vajra Umbrella deeper. With a "whoosh," his intestines flowed out of his ruptured abdomen, propelling Wang Lan forward.

"Aww—"

The eagle let out a painful cry, but the animal's own strong vitality, coupled with the amplification after being infected, made it even more irritable.

It flapped its wings, cried out at Wang Lan, and charged forward again.

Before Wang Lan could even regain her footing, she was knocked to the ground by the mountain-sized eagle, which then pressed its entire body down on her.

The enormous claws pressed Wang Lan firmly to the ground, rendering him unable to move, while the eagle's head descended, pecking at Wang Lan's head.

Wang Lan reacted swiftly, extending both hands to firmly block the eagle's beak. The two were locked in a stalemate, the eagle's massive head swaying left and right, trying to break free from Wang Lan's grasp. But Wang Lan gritted his teeth, never daring to relax his grip. The eagle's claws then seized Wang Lan, its enormous wings flapping incessantly, about to carry him into the sky.

Wang Lan realized that his body was gradually leaving the ground, but the eagle's claws were like huge iron pincers that he could not break free from. No matter how hard Wang Lan used all his strength, the claws remained motionless.

But this greatly increased Wang Lan's room to maneuver. He reached to his waist, pulled out a dagger, and kept stabbing at the eagle's claws.

Despite the eagle's strong defenses, its claws were still torn and bleeding under Wang Lan's relentless slashing and cutting. It released its grip, throwing Wang Lan away, and at the same time, it swayed precariously and fell from mid-air. The shock caused its intestines to spill out even more, covering the ground.

Wang Lan landed on the ground and, without daring to rest for a moment, immediately shouted, "Fatty, give me the thunder!"

Upon hearing this, the fat man understood and quickly took out a bomb, lit the fuse, and then rushed towards Wang Lan like an arrow, handing the bomb to him.

Wang Lan took the bomb and ran to the eagle without stopping. While the eagle was still flapping its wings, he stuffed the bomb into its torn belly.

"boom!"

A violent explosion rang out, blasting the eagle's body in two. The powerful impact of the explosion also pushed Wang Lan away, causing him to crash heavily to the ground.

Sun Muchen quickly ran over and helped Sun Muchen up. "Brother, are you alright?"

"No...it's nothing."

Her voice trembled as she spoke, and Wang Lan plopped back down on the ground.

The eagle's lower body had been blown to pieces, leaving only one wing and a broken body, with its internal organs spilling out from the gap.

It wasn't until then that Old Zhang felt his legs gradually returning. He realized that he had been sitting on the ground the whole time, which explained why Wang Lan hadn't called him earlier. So, he mustered his courage and stood up, only to suddenly see the eagle start moving as well.

"Aww—"

The roar became even more piercing, as if in a final frenzy, and the eagle staggered as it swooped down on Old Zhang.

Wang Lan: "..."

Sun Muchen: "..."

Fatty: "!!!"
