Chapter Twenty-Five: The Vulture

The smell grew stronger and stronger as soon as it appeared. Old Zhang followed the scent and took a few sniffs, then felt his stomach churning. He gritted his teeth to keep from vomiting, but just then, a pair of sticky, bloody hands covered his mouth, and the fat man's voice rang out softly, "Hold on, don't throw up!"

But his body was already reacting strongly, and with the help of the fat man's hand, the double stimulation made it impossible for Old Zhang to hold back.

He let out a "whoosh" and sprayed it all over the fat man's hand, making the fat man scream in disgust.

As the voice spoke, the "cooing" sound suddenly rose to a sharp, eerie roar.

And that terrifying hissing sound began to stir wildly.

Wang Lan cursed, "F*** you! You idiot!"

He immediately reached out and pulled Sun Muchen into his arms, his body instinctively turning around, the Vajra Umbrella opening behind him, and at the same time kicking towards the phantoms of Old Zhang and Fatty.

With two screams, the two were kicked away, and at the same time, the "cooing" sound reached them and crashed into the Vajra Umbrella.

The immense force immediately sent Wang Lan flying, and the Vajra Umbrella slipped from his grasp. Wang Lan and Sun Muchen crashed to the ground and separated, but then they heard a shrill and furious roar behind them.

It is likely because the final fortress was not lit, which severely obstructed its vision, that the monster crashed into the tip of the Vajra Umbrella and injured itself.

Sun Muchen got up from the ground, groped his way to Wang Lan, and hurriedly asked, "Brother, how are you?"

"It's alright, give me the dagger!"

Sun Muchen didn't say much, immediately pulled out a dagger and handed it over, but also added, "Why don't we retreat first!"

"It's pitch black, everyone's blind! Who's afraid of who!"

Wang Lan took the dagger, threw down a sentence, and rushed towards the direction from which the sound came.

Old Zhang and Fatty followed the sound and crawled to Sun Muchen's side. Old Zhang hurriedly said, "What should we do, Sun Muchen? You're well-educated, do you have any ideas?"

"I'm not good at science... but I actually have a way!"

Sun Muchen listened intently, trying to discern Wang Lan's current location, his mind racing, trying to figure out where the light was coming from.

The fat man had a sudden inspiration: "There are trees nearby, why don't we rub them together to make a fire!"

"Screw you!" Old Zhang retorted. "Before you can even crawl through the tree, that monster will have already crawled through you!"

Sun Muchen had a flash of inspiration, "Use gunpowder!"

Old Zhang and Fatty suddenly realized what was going on, took out the explosives and began to disassemble them, pouring the gunpowder on the ground and lighting it.

With a "rip" sound!

The gunpowder instantly emitted a blinding light, dispelling the darkness.

Wang Lan and the monster, both blind, had been wildly attacking the air, but now that his sight had returned, he could finally see the monster's appearance.

It was taller than a person, covered in dark brown feathers, but its head and long neck were completely bare, without a single feather. Its huge beak was hooked, so it was a vulture!

The man and the bird, one pecking wildly with its beak and the other brandishing a dagger, locked onto each other and pounced when the flash of gunpowder appeared.

Sun Muchen hurriedly searched for a bow and arrow, not daring to delay for even a moment.

But the light brought by the flames is fleeting, and in the eternal night, darkness is destined to be the dominant theme.

Old Zhang and Fatty weren't idle either. Once they determined the location for the sacks containing the explosives, they hurriedly ran over.

Wang Lan actually had a very tough time in this battle because the vulture's neck strength was too great and its beak was incredibly hard.

He had just blocked an attack and felt as if he had crashed into an impenetrable wall. In addition, he couldn't see his target in the dark, so he had no choice but to dodge by moving around haphazardly and attract the vulture's attention with wide, sweeping movements. But he had to be careful every time, otherwise he could easily be killed by the vulture's head hitting him.

But in the darkness, it's not just vision that's obstructed, but also the loss of direction and balance.

The vulture began to flap its wings, creating a gust of wind that blew Wang Lan off balance, causing her to stumble backward several steps and nearly fall to the ground.

Just then, an explosion suddenly rang out.

It's a thunderclap!

The light caught its breath in the darkness, and the vulture turned around, its white eyes fixed on Wang Lan.

Just then, Wang Lan steadied himself and looked up.

"Infected again?"

The dagger's cold glint was like a fleeting shooting star as it flew from Wang Lan's hand toward the corpse-pecking bird.

It disappeared into the darkness along with the light from the explosion.

Then, the vulture let out a painful cry!

"Waaaaaah..."

Wang Lan: "???"

He stared into the darkness ahead and rushed off.

All that could be heard was the whistling wind approaching, carrying an immense sense of oppression.

With a "rip" sound!

Gunpowder set the crooked tree ablaze!

Amidst the excited shouts of Lao Zhang and Fatty.

Light dispels darkness.

In Wang Lan's eyes, the dagger had pierced the vulture's eye, leaving only the hilt sticking out. This enraged the corpse-pecking bird, whose huge wings swung towards Wang Lan and slammed into his body.

A sweet taste rose in his throat, and Wang Lan spat out a mouthful of blood, flying backward and crashing to the ground.

Indescribable pain surged from all parts of his body; even being torn apart by the animals in the ranch was not as intense as this slapping. The vulture pressed its advantage, flapping its wings and swooping down on Wang Lan.

But at that moment, a bamboo arrow pierced the air and struck the wing.

"Huh?"

The vulture's eyes widened, and it turned its head to look.

Sun Muchen drew his bow and nocked an arrow. The black arrow, propelled by the bowstring, shot out faster than the previous one and struck the vulture's other eye with perfect accuracy.
