Chapter 374 Birthday
After the meeting, Shen Changze returned to the house to rest. Standing in the snowy courtyard, he stared at the candlelit house in front of him for a moment.
The biting cold wind blew snowflakes in, and Shen Changze walked towards the house and pushed the door.
"My husband is back." Cheng Jinchu greeted him with a smile, took off Shen Changze's coat that was covered with snow, shook off the snowflakes and hung it on the clothesline.
Shen Changze walked straight to the brazier and sat down, taking off his shoes and boots.
Cheng Jinchu asked someone to bring hot water to wash Shen Changze's face and warm his feet.
After washing, Shen Changze went to bed to rest.
Cheng Jinchu closed the door, blew out the candles and went to bed.
Since coming to the border, the two have lived in the same room and slept in the same bed.
It's not that Shen Changze suddenly changed his personality, but he and Cheng Jinchu are husband and wife. There is no reason for them to sleep in separate rooms and beds when they are out in front of outsiders.
"Are you tired, husband?" Cheng Jinchu asked Shen Changze in a low voice with his back to her.
Shen Changze responded sullenly.
"Let me massage you, husband." Cheng Jinchu put his hand on Shen Changze's shoulder and massaged him to relax.
Shen Changze felt comfortable and did not stop him.
Shen Changze was so tired that he fell asleep quickly after relaxing his body and mind.
Cheng Jinchu listened to his low snoring and sighed in disappointment.
After sleeping in the same bed for half a month, Shen Changze slept with his back to her every night, unlike before when he hugged her to sleep.
But now it is much better than when they were in Beijing.
Cheng Jinchu comforted herself, put her hands around Shen Changze's waist, and fell asleep against his back.
It was a night of wind and snow, and thick snow accumulated on the ground. The houses and trees were covered with snow, and everything was white.
Early in the morning, Shen Changze asked Cheng Jinchu to pack his clothes.
Cheng Jinchu was puzzled: "Where is my husband going?"
Shen Changze said: "Your Highness asked me to take the light cavalry to meet the baggage army."
Cheng Jinchu heard it and knew that he would be gone for a few days, or even longer.
"I will go with my husband." Then she went to pack clothes.
Shen Changze looked at her figure and said, "It's cold in the snow, you stay here."
Cheng Jinchu paused while packing clothes, and said with agitated heart, "Are you worried about me, my husband?"
Shen Changze frowned and did not answer.
Cheng Jinchu thought he had agreed silently, and said gently, "Okay, I'll wait for my husband to come back."
After breakfast, Shen Changze put on his cloak, picked up his bag, and went out with the snow still flying.
As Shen Changze expected, the snow fell for two days before stopping.
The snow was too thick to march, and Mobei was quiet for the time being, with no action.
Yu Cheng did not dare to take it lightly, and summoned generals every day to discuss countermeasures and keep a close eye on the movements in Mobei.
Three days passed in a flash.
On the evening of the 19th, the team heading south arrived at the post station and rested there.
It was already dark. Yu Zheng listened to Zhuiyun, Zhufeng and others' reports in the house. After finishing his business, he found that he hadn't seen Jiang Shu for a long time and couldn't help asking.
"Where is the princess?"
Zhuiyun and Zhufeng looked at each other and said, "I will go find her now."
The post station was not big, and Zhuiyun found Jiang Shu quickly.
Jiang Shu was busy in a small kitchen, and Leng Xing was lighting the fire for her.
Hearing Zhuiyun say that Yu Zheng was looking for her, Jiang Shu glanced at the water in the pot that was about to boil, and said while washing vegetables, "Tell the prince, I will be here soon."
Zhuiyun obeyed and turned around, and heard Jiang Shu add, "Don't tell the prince what I am doing."
"Yes." Zhuiyun hesitated for a moment and responded.
Yu Zheng was reading in the room. After listening to Zhuiyun's report,
he asked in confusion, "What is the princess doing?"
Zhuiyun said, "The master will know in a while."
Hearing this, Yu Zheng raised his eyes and looked at Zhuiyun strangely.
Zhuiyun's scalp was tense and he lowered his head with a guilty conscience.
Fortunately, Yu Zheng did not ask any more questions. He waved his hand to let him leave and continued to read the book in his hand. Zhuiyun
felt relieved and walked out of the room quickly.
As a personal guard, it was the first time that Zhuiyun did not answer the master's words directly. He was afraid that Yu Zheng would blame him.
But he had to listen to Jiang Shu's instructions.
Zhuiyun sighed and looked up at the sky.
The night sky was pitch black, and there was no moon or stars.
About a quarter of an hour later, Jiang Shu and Leng Xing came out of the small kitchen with a tray.
Yu Zheng, who was reading in the room, looked up when he heard footsteps and saw Jiang Shu walking towards him with two bowls of noodles and a smile on his face.
"Husband, it's time to eat." Jiang Shu and Leng Xing put down the tray and brought the noodles and dishes to the table.
After putting down the chopsticks, Leng Xing took the tray and left. Only Yu Zheng and Jiang Shu were left in the room.
Yu Zheng walked closer and looked at the three dishes and two bowls of noodles on the table. He asked in surprise, "Did you cook them?"
Jiang Shu pulled him to sit down and said, "The dishes were made by the chef at the post station, and the noodles were made by me."
She couldn't cook so much in such a short time. Besides, she only knew how to cook noodles.
Yu Zheng's dark eyes stared at the two bowls of noodles, and his heart was touched.
On the unevenly thick noodles, there was a golden fried egg, and there were two green cabbage leaves next to it.
"When did you go to the kitchen?" Yu Zheng recalled what Zhuiyun had said before.
Jiang Shu said, "I went there a while after I arrived. Fortunately, there are two kitchens in this post station. I cooked in the small kitchen that boils water, so it didn't affect everyone..."
Yu Zheng listened to her gentle words, and a light flashed in his eyes: "I didn't know that you could cook."
Jiang Shu said shyly, "I only know how to cook sashimi. I haven't made it for many years, and I don't know if it tastes good."
Since she was born, there have been servants serving her at home. Not to mention her, even Jiang's mother rarely goes into the kitchen.
She learned how to make sashimi for her family before. But she has never made it since she got married, so her hands are not very good.
"Husband, try it." Jiang Shu nervously handed the chopsticks to Yu Zheng.
Yu Zheng took it, picked up a spoonful of noodles and put it into his mouth, chewing and tasting.
"Is it delicious?" Jiang Shu stared at Yu Zheng straight, eyes full of expectation.
Yu Zheng nodded and curled his lips: "Delicious."
"Really?" Jiang Shu half believed and half doubted, and also picked up a spoonful and put it into his mouth.
Well, it's okay, not bad.
Jiang Shu breathed a sigh of relief, picked up a piece of stewed meat for Yu Zheng, and asked him to eat more.
This meal was the best meal they had eaten in the past few days of rushing on the road.
They would set off tomorrow, and there was no suitable post station, so they could only sleep in the open.
"You should eat more too, you have lost weight." Yu Zheng picked up some of each dish for Jiang Shu.
Jiang Shu was eating, and suddenly he exclaimed.
"What's wrong?" Yu Zheng asked.
Jiang Shu looked at him and said, "I forgot to wish my husband a happy birthday."
Yu Zheng was silent.
"My husband, I wish you a happy birthday and good luck." Jiang Shuwan smiled and gave a serious blessing.
Yu Zheng raised his hand and gently stroked her cheek, his dark eyes full of tenderness: "Thank you, Shu'er."
Jiang Shu smiled, lowered his head and looked at the noodles in the bowl and said, "Eat quickly, the noodles are going to clump together."
"Okay." Yu Zheng responded gently and ate the noodles in the bowl cleanly.
After a short rest after the meal, Jiang Shu asked Leng Xing to bring hot water for a bath.
The conditions were limited during the days of rushing on the road, so she could only wash simply. Now soaking in the bathtub, Jiang Shu sighed comfortably.
When she came out after the bath, she saw Yu Zheng sitting in front of the brazier and waving at her.
"There is no fumigation cage, so we can only use fire." Yu Zheng took the cotton towel from her hand and helped her wipe her wet hair.
When it was half dry, Zhu Feng changed the water, and Jiang Shu urged Yu Zheng to take a bath.
