Chapter 7 Returning Home
Shen Changze's hands were large and hot. Jiang Shu's slightly cold hands were wrapped in his, and a warm current surged into her heart.
The two went to Shouyong Hall hand in hand to pay their respects to Old Madam Shen and Shen's mother.
Shen Changze's palms were rough and creased due to years of holding swords. Jiang Shu's hands were slender and delicate, smooth and soft as if boneless, and Shen Changze couldn't help but pinch them.
Jiang Shu shuddered and looked at him sideways.
Shen Changze cleared his throat and said in a low voice: "Madam's hands are so soft."
Hearing this, Jiang Shu's pretty face became hot, and she felt that Shen Changze's hands were burning. She wanted to break away, but Shen Changze didn't let her, and the two held hands and went to Shouyong Hall.
"My dearest, come and let me hug you..."
Before entering the Shouyong Hall, they could hear cheerful conversation and laughter.
"Grandmother, mother." The two greeted in unison, and when Cheng Jinchu turned his head to look over, Shen Changze let go of Jiang Shu's hand.
Jiang Shu took back his hand and clasped it in front of him, and the warmth in his heart was chilled.
"Daddy." Yan Huan ran over and hugged Shen Changze's legs.
Shen Changze bent over and picked her up, pointing at Jiang Shu on the side and said, "Call me mother."
Yan Huan pursed her bright eyes and stared at the beaded shawl on Jiang Shu's head: "Mother, it's so beautiful."
For a three-year-old child, the sparkling ruby is a novel toy.
Noticing Yan Huan's eyes, Jiang Shu asked softly: "Do you like it?"
"I like it." Yan Huan reached out and touched Jiang Shu's pearl-shaped step-shaking.
Looking at her lovely little face, Jiang Shu curled her lips: "Mother will give you a set later."
Adults' affairs have nothing to do with children, and she will not be angry with children.
"Okay, it's getting late, you should go quickly." Shen's mother took Yan Huan and asked them to leave quickly.
Old Lady Shen was focused on teasing her great-grandson and ignored them at all.
Shen Changze and Jiang Shu turned and left.
Cheng Jinchu looked at their well-matched figures and felt very uncomfortable.
She picked Shen Changze's clothes, but she didn't expect that Jiang Shu would wear the same color.
And just now, Shen Changze held Yan Huan and called Jiang Shu mother, and the picture of the three people getting along harmoniously deeply hurt her.
How could her child be loved by someone else?
On the carriage to Jiang's house, Jiang Shu and Shen Changze sat on their sides, not saying a word.
Glancing at her hand on her leg, Shen Changze seemed to remember something: "Your hand is fine."
"Yeah." Jiang Shu replied faintly.
Although the hot soup scalded the back of her hand, it was not serious. There were no blisters or rashes. After applying medicine for a few days, it returned to normal.
Looking at the bright and beautiful little face in front of him, Shen Changze wanted to talk to her more and get closer, so he said: "Jinchu's ancestors were wine merchants. They have a secret recipe for brewing wine passed down from their ancestors. They plan to open a winery in Shangjing. What do you think?"
"Very good." Jiang Shu looked indifferent and not interested.
Shen Changze moved his lips and changed the subject: "How are your father-in-law and mother-in-law doing recently? Do you need to buy anything else on the way?"
Hearing him asking about his parents, Jiang Shu's expression eased a lot, and a little smile appeared on the corner of his lips: "My parents are in good health, but Jiang Ning is at a naughty age, which gives them a headache."
Jiang Ning
Yes, she has a younger brother. When he went to the Jiang family to pick up the bride, he held Jiang Shu's hand and cried and refused to let him go, and wiped his snot all over him.
"How old is Jiang Ning now?"
"He will be thirteen in two months."
Jiang Shu smiled softly and started to talk more: "He has been naughty since he was young, and he makes trouble in the mansion every day. His parents couldn't control him and sent him to the academy. In less than half a year, he became the little devil of the academy. But he is talented and learns everything quickly, which makes the teacher love and hate him..."
"Father-in-law and mother-in-law want him to enter the government." Shen Changze was puzzled.
The Jiang family is very wealthy and has many businesses, but they only have Jiang Ning as their only son. If he enters the government, who will take over the Jiang family's business?
Jiang Shu shook his head: "Father and mother didn't think so, they just wanted him to learn to read and understand. As for the future, it depends on his talent."
Studying requires talent, and so does doing business. If Jiang Ning has no talent for business, forcing him to take over will only lead to the loss of all the family property.
As the two were talking, the carriage suddenly stopped.
"Marquis, Madam, we have arrived at the Jiang Mansion."
"Sister!" Before Jiang Shu got off the carriage, he heard the cheerful voice of the young man.
Shen Changze was the first to get out of the carriage, and when he looked out, he saw the handsome young man waiting beside the carriage. He
had a jade crown and tied his hair, and his figure was taller than his shoulders. He looked a bit like Jiang Shu, and I wonder how many beauties in the capital will be fascinated by him when he grows up.
"Brother." Jiang Shu got out of the carriage, and Shen Changze reached out to help her get out of the car.
Jiang Shu was about to put her hand on him, but was grabbed by Jiang Ning.
"I'll help sister." Jiang Ning pushed Shen Changze away with her butt.
Shen Changze looked at his empty palms, and at the close siblings, feeling inexplicably upset.
That was his wife, how could he let another man support her, even his own brother.
He wanted to remind Jiang Ning, but was interrupted by Jiang's father and mother.
"Meet the Marquis." Jiang's father and mother saluted according to the rules.
Shen Changze hurriedly helped: "Father-in-law and mother-in-law, get up quickly."
"Shu'er." Jiang's mother held Jiang Shu's hand, tears streaming down her face before she could speak.
"Mom, I'm back." Jiang Shu smiled softly and acted coquettishly with Jiang's mother.
Looking at the scene in front of them, the servants and maids' eyes turned red.
After six years, they finally saw the young lady returning home with her aunt.
Although the streets on both sides had been cleared by the servants, there was no guarantee that someone would pass by, so Jiang's father frowned and said, "Let's go into the mansion first."
If it was an ordinary family, it would be fine, but the wife of the marquis's mansion would not show up.
The group entered the hall and sat down. The maid served tea and left.
Jiang's father and mother asked Shen Changze to take the seat, but Shen Changze declined and sat down with Jiang Shu.
At this time, his identity was not Marquis Jing'an, but a son-in-law, and he should let the elders take the seat.
"Sister, why are you so thin?" Jiang Ning stared at Jiang Shu's thin face, full of heartache, and finally glared at Shen Changze with a blameful look.
It must be because he brought his wife and children back, which made sister sad.
Shen Changze knew he was in the wrong, so he didn't care.
Jiang's father and mother also had resentment in their hearts, but they didn't scold.
Jiang Shu was afraid that the atmosphere would become more and more tense, so he teased Jiang Ning: "Then sister, eat more today, and bring it all back."
Jiang Ning nodded childishly: "Okay. Mother asked the kitchen to prepare all the dishes that sister likes, sister, eat more later."
The family was very excited after receiving Jiang Shu's letter last night. The Jiang Mansion was busy early this morning, and Jiang Ning, who was originally going to the academy, also took a leave.
Mother Jiang wanted to have a few words with Jiang Shu, so she asked Jiang's father Jiang Ning to accompany Shen Changze, and she called Jiang Shu to the garden.
"Is the Marquis treated you well?" Mother Jiang asked as they walked.
Jiang Shu took her mother's hand and nodded.
She didn't want her parents to worry about her.
"Then you...can consummate your marriage?" Mother Jiang stared into Jiang Shu's eyes, and was very concerned about this matter.
Being stared at like this, Jiang Shu didn't dare to lie: "Not yet."
