12. Wear a bra
Deng Shilang returned to his Hengfeng home before turning on his phone. Tracy had sent messages, and Chen Li'er had left numerous messages. Liang Litang had first told him to take good care of his cousin, then frantically urged him to reply to Chen Li'er. Bar manager Lu An had also sent him messages. He had replied to each one, and suddenly he received a call from Liang Litang.
"Are you back? Why aren't you checking your phone? Gigi called Tracy, and then Tracy called me too." Liang Litang asked on the other end of the phone.
"I'm back." Deng Shilang went to the refrigerator to get a can of soda and opened the pull ring with one hand. Standing in the kitchen, he felt that he had done something wrong and replied, "I'll hang up first and call Gigi."
"Wait, what are you drinking? I heard a hissing sound."
"Just soda water."
Liang Litang thought he was quite sober, so he quickly said, "Gigi said you informed her. She knew Rosalie would also be going to Repulse Bay, but when she saw you didn't reply, she got very panicked."
"It's my problem." Deng Shilang didn't want to hide it. He wanted to reflect on the lack of boundaries.
Liang Litang yelled a few words over there, and Deng Shilang laughed at him for being a chatterbox. After he finished speaking, he brought up another topic, "Did you see what Lu An posted?"
"See, it's his birthday." Deng Shilang leaned against the kitchen island, took a sip, and casually put the can on the island behind him.
"See you tomorrow night."
"I haven't agreed yet. You know I have to have dinner with my family every weekend."
"If you don't go, he will fire you and ask your colleagues in Lan Kwai Fong to reject you." Liang Litang added fuel to the fire.
"You're messing with me." Deng Shilang smiled and ignored them. "I'm not going to say anything more. You two colluded and used coercion and bribery. It's illegal."
He immediately called Chen Li'er after hanging up. Within a minute, Chen Li'er answered the phone. She remained silent, clearly sulking. He knew she wasn't someone who would make trouble for no reason. If she was unhappy, it must be his fault.
Deng Shilang listened to her silence, sighed, and took the initiative to admit his mistake: "Okay, I should reply to your message in time."
"Don't try to be perfunctory with me. What did you and Yao Ling do in Repulse Bay?"
Deng Shilang started talking about work, then went to the swimming pool, "After losing the game, we hugged each other for a while, and then drove her back to Tsim Sha Tsui. Don't think too much."
"A hug? Believe it or not, I'd ask my ex to come out and watch a night show with me in the early hours of the morning."
Deng Shilang had to rub his face. She had never used this to provoke him before, but now she was really angry. He had to admit: "Believe it, it's really my fault."
Chen Li'er calmed down a bit, feeling his sincerity, and let him go for now. In her impression, Deng Shilang had always been straightforward and frank, always clear with her. If they got angry, and she didn't resolve her discomfort overnight, he would work it out with her, no matter how exhausted he was. She didn't think it was a problem; a boyfriend should be considerate and honest, able to tolerate her willfulness, and besides, in her eyes, it wasn't even willfulness.
They chatted for twenty minutes, and by the time they were done, Deng Shilang had already finished a can of soda, and Chen Li'er was starting to feel sleepy. He told her to go to bed early, then suddenly remembered his father had asked her to come over for dinner if she was free that weekend. He told her, and she agreed to go to his house in Hengfeng for dinner. They said goodnight and hung up. He put down his phone and went to get another can of soda, not going to bed until after three in the morning.
Yao Ling finished her fish ball cart noodles at the B&B, washed up, and went to bed late. She was woken by her parents at nine in the morning and followed them to a tea restaurant. Her parents helped in the kitchen while Liang Litang sat at a table eating macaroni and tomato, both of them full of energy.
"What are your plans for today?" Liang Litang saw her sitting down in her pajamas.
"Sleep well."
Liang Litang became more and more familiar with her. "I know you're definitely not interested, so I won't ask you to play with us."
Yao Ling nodded dazedly, "I'm very sleepy, don't bother me."
Liang Litang made an OK gesture and lowered his head to eat breakfast.
That day, Deng Shilang slept only four hours before going downstairs for a morning run. He returned home to have breakfast with his family. That evening, Chen Lier arrived dressed up, bringing a box of chocolates for Jiang Si and a bottle of red wine for Deng Yonglian. The four of them dined and chatted until ten o'clock.
Deng Shilang dropped Chen Li'er off at her apartment. After a hug downstairs, he returned to his car and rushed to send Lu Anfa a birthday greeting before midnight. As soon as he finished, Lu An called him to tell him that Liang Litang had been hunched over the table for a long time. He suspected it was another coordinated ploy, but he still went to take a look; after all, his apartment was near Central.
There were occasional loud thunders and dense clouds.
Deng Shilang arrived at the modern building and saw a familiar figure at the elevator entrance. The button had already glowed orange before he arrived. He walked over and stood beside her. "What are you doing here?"
The number of floors kept decreasing. Yao Ling looked up and said simply, "Take him home for my aunt."
The elevator arrived and they went up to the bar, where they found Liang Litang lying on his stomach with a lava cake next to him.
Deng Shilang didn't know what they were up to, "Are you still awake?"
"Don't blame me, Hayden. I didn't call you. I just asked my mother to prepare iodine and ice packs at home." Liang Litang straightened up, covered his aching forehead, and distanced himself from the matter.
Lu An patted Deng Shilang on the back and explained, "He drank a few too many glasses of liquor and bumped into the mirror in the bathroom. He got a bump on his head, and the skin was broken and bleeding a little. It's better to go back and take care of it quickly."
Deng Shilang was helpless, and the three of them went downstairs. He saw a little blood on Liang Litang's forehead, and since his apartment was closer and had a first aid kit, he asked them to go to his apartment first to treat the wound. Yao Ling remained silent until she saw lightning flash across the sky. Soon, they arrived at Deng Shilang's apartment, and she followed the two men inside.
"Where is the iodine?" Yao Ling asked.
Deng Shilang casually placed his phone on the sofa, handed her the medicine box, and went to the kitchen to chip and bag ice. He returned to the living room to see her applying a cotton swab to Liang Litang, who was sitting on the sofa. Her gentle touch made him hiss in pain. She then pressed her knees against the sofa, her hand supporting his chin, the exact same pose she'd used when she'd photographed Valentina and Luca at Repulse Bay.
Liang Litang applied an ice pack as a heavy rainstorm suddenly began outside. He smiled wryly, "I think you'll have to take us in tonight."
"This isn't your first time either."
"Rosalie, do you mind?" Liang Litang sighed.
Yao Ling disliked heavy rainstorms. She had originally planned to pick him up and take a taxi, but the rain made it difficult to even go out. Comparing the two, she disliked the former more.
After making this decision, they stayed overnight, with the bed reserved for the girl, while the other two slept in the living room and the guest room.
Deng Shilang found some clothes for them. He was the last one to shower. When he came out, he found Liang Litang had already gone to sleep in the guest room. Yao Ling was wearing her long-sleeved shirt and was on the sofa, scrolling through her phone. Suddenly, his phone rang. It was his. He had just remembered that he had left it on the sofa. He went to look for it, but it wasn't there. He probably had it stuck in the crack of the sofa.
"Go to bed. I need to get my phone."
Yao Ling stood up slightly, and he had a clear view of her from behind. He leaned over to take it, and her proximity to him caused her to lean back against the sofa, where she sat down again, surrounded by his moisture and the scent of shower gel. She moved, trying to get out, and her long-sleeved shirt slipped to the left, revealing her shoulder blade and letting him see her breasts underneath the loose-fitting long-sleeved shirt.
Deng Shilang stepped back after getting the phone and looked at her plain face. "Wear a bra."
"I didn't feel comfortable sleeping at night." Yao Ling sat up and stared at him, "You're watching again."
"I saw it when I lowered my head." Deng Shilang spoke frankly.
"Does it look good?"
Deng Shilang laughed instead of getting angry, "What do you want?"
"She's lying down naked in the sun without any clothes on."
"You're in my house now, not on a beach in Europe."
"What are you afraid of? I'm afraid that you can't control yourself and have sex with me." Yao Ling asked coldly.
"You don't allow me to watch it, but you ask me if it looks good. You're just saying one thing and thinking another, just like before we started dating."
Yao Ling didn't answer, but avoided him, got off the sofa and went to the refrigerator next to the kitchen island to get some water. She didn't understand why he put the bottled water on the top shelf, so she stood on tiptoe to get it, lifting the hem of her long-sleeved shirt.
Deng Shilang didn't want to help at first, but after watching her take a long time, he easily took the bottle of water from behind her. She turned around, held the water, leaned against the refrigerator, and said to him, "You should close your eyes so you don't come to torture me."
Yao Ling opened the water and drank it. When she had enough, she put it on the table, walked around him into the bedroom, got into his bed, and covered herself with the quilt. It was all his scent, perfume and shower gel, and the Dior scent of his girlfriend.
