13. So you have morning erections
By the time Deng Shilang finished processing the messages on his phone, the rain had subsided a lot and the entire apartment had become quiet.
He didn't know if she was asleep, but he wanted to get a pillow and a blanket. The bedroom door was ajar, so he went over and gently grasped the handle. Through the crack in the door, he saw her back as she lay on her side, and so he quietly entered the bedroom.
Yao Ling slept very quietly. She liked to lie on her side in the middle of the bed, facing the window. Her relaxed shoulders let her long-sleeved shirt slide down, and her neck, connected to her shoulder blades, was illuminated cleanly and beautifully by the moonlight outside the window. He took a look, turned his back to the bed, opened the closet, and took out a set of quilts.
The only two pillows were on the bed, and the one he could use was by the window.
Deng Shilang placed the quilt in the empty space behind Yao Ling, bent over, supported the bed with one hand, and reached around her body with the other to lift the pillow, trying not to touch her. Just then, Yao Ling turned her head to lie flat on her back, feeling the movement and the tickling of her clothes brushing against her. She opened her eyes and saw him leaning towards her, his jaw and Adam's apple just barely above her face.
She soon realized that he was getting a pillow, and when he finished, he stood up and happened to meet her eyes. They were both silent for a moment. She had just been woken up and her eyes were hazy.
"Go to sleep, I won't come in again." After Deng Shilang said this to her, he picked up the quilt and pillow and went out.
Yao Ling didn't even want to say a word. She closed her eyes in response. He closed the door tightly, and she pulled the quilt over her and fell asleep again.
Deng Shilang hadn't tried sleeping on the sofa for a long time. He slept all night and woke up at seven o'clock.
The others were still asleep, but he was the only one awake. He thought the time was just right, as he usually washed his hair in the morning and then blew it dry, which took time.
Yao Ling often woke up early when staying overnight at someone else's house. She got out of bed and opened the door to find no one on the sofa. The light was on in the bathroom, so she figured Deng Shilang was washing up. She didn't want to occupy his bedroom all the time, as he would have to come in to change, so she simply made his bed and sat in the living room.
She woke up without any grumpy mood, sitting on the sofa reading messages from family and relatives. After Chen Yu and Qiu Ping learned they were staying overnight at a friend's house, they took turns answering the messages in the group Liang Litang had created. She only saw that morning that Qiu Ping had asked Liang Litang to come home for dinner that evening, and Chen Yu had told her to get some rest while they accompanied them to visit friends in Tseung Kwan O.
A few minutes later, Deng Shilang came out of the bathroom and clearly found someone sitting in the living room, the bedroom door was open, and the bed was made.
He walked to the sofa, tidied up the quilt and pillows next to her, and said, "The new toothbrush is in the sink."
Yao Ling heard it, put down her phone, and went straight to wash up. As soon as she placed her darkened phone next to the sofa, a message popped up on the screen. Someone with the ID "P" sent her a message. She didn't see it, but Deng Shilang saw it in an instant.
It was late in the evening in Milan, and early in the morning in Hong Kong. Someone with the ID "P" was sending a message in at least two languages. The first half was probably in Italian or French, but the second half was crystal clear: just three words: "missyourbody." Deng Shilang wondered how she would respond: a heart, or no reply, as was her style.
After washing up, Yao Ling simply tied her hair up and passed the kitchen. She saw Deng Shilang holding a honey jar in his left hand and a stirring spoon between his right fingers. At the same time, he easily unscrewed the lid. There was a cut lemon on the chopping board.
He put a spoonful of honey into the cup and stirred it. Hearing the sound, he asked her, "What do you want to drink, honey water or coffee?"
"Mineral water, I'll get it myself later." She wasn't very thirsty.
Liang Litang was still asleep, so Deng Shilang mixed two cups of honey water and started making oatmeal. Both of them, from Central, did the same thing: make some oatmeal, nuts, and honey water in the morning to sober up even after drinking the night before.
Yao Ling went into the kitchen to help. She knew exactly what he was doing and asked him where the nuts were. She found them by rummaging through the cupboard and poured them into his bowl of oatmeal.
There was movement in the guest room. Liang Litang had to go to work and couldn't stay in bed. He went to the living room and knew they were making breakfast without entering the kitchen. He smelled the aroma of oatmeal and asked familiarly, "Hayden, where's the toothbrush?"
"I put two in there. The unused one is yours."
"Okay." Liang Litang turned into the bathroom and started to fiddle with it.
Deng Shilang looked at Yao Ling, who was sprinkling nuts nearby. She was looking down, her hair curling a few times on the side of her face, and she was still wearing the same long-sleeved shirt. He realized something and asked, "Are you wearing a bra?"
"Not yet." Yao Ling finished everything, put down the bag of nuts, and opened the refrigerator to get the bottled water that she hadn't finished last night.
"You have to put on your clothes even if you don't want to change. I'm not the only one here."
"You're annoying." Yao Ling didn't want to hear the same thing over and over again so early in the morning. He had all sorts of reasons to order her around, but she didn't believe he'd take it easy. She leaned against the marble counter, nudging his lower body with the bottle of water in her hand. Her tone was flat, explaining, "So you're having a morning erection, worried he'll notice you're having an erection when I'm not wearing a bra."
Deng Shilang was also very calm. "How old are you? You can't be unaware that every man will have an erection in the morning."
"If that's the case, why is it still like this after washing up?"
He couldn't deny that she was right about that. It wasn't the right time to do it in the morning. He couldn't hide his physiological reactions, and she was using it as a provocation. She wore a nonchalant expression, twirling the bottle of water in her hand. Even when she was provoking him, she didn't smile, thinking she could go even further.
He suddenly grasped her shoulders, removed the cold bottle of water from her hand, and reached inside her long-sleeved shirt, rubbing the bottled water against her breasts, shaping them. The clothes rippled, revealing only a small portion of her pale skin, while the rest was hidden. She was caught off guard and instinctively flinched, her shoulders shaking uncontrollably. She couldn't stand still, and it was too cold. She bit her lip and reached out to steady him. Looking down, she saw drops of water sliding from her breasts to her navel, some dripping directly to the ground.
"Are you ovulating? It's been a while since I've experienced breast swelling after sex."
"Long time?" Yao Ling didn't expect him to do this. She immediately pushed his hand away and said coldly, "I just haven't done it recently."
Deng Shilang finally laughed. She must be ovulating, because her husband had timed his flirting perfectly. He knew she'd always be more proactive when she reached that stage, clinging to him for kisses, wanting hugs, and even, in the most exaggerated cases, even getting him to strangle her. Even so, she couldn't treat him like that now, using a bottle of water to push against his lower body.
He gently rubbed the tip of her nipple, which was gradually becoming erect, with the bottle cap, causing her to frown slightly. A stream of water began to flow between her legs. She stopped him with one hand and moved her other hand to cover his eyes, never letting him see. With her covering his eyes, he could only recall her face beneath him before, and Chen Li'er. He cursed himself inwardly and immediately let go of her, took out the water, and threw it on the counter.
"Isn't this what you want? Stop while you're ahead."
As soon as he let go, Yao Ling felt her chest swell, her nipples swollen, and her nipples lightly pressed against his long-sleeved shirt, leaving a few watermarks on it. She was angry at his words and actions, which were simply humiliating to her. She left the kitchen with a cold face, went into his bedroom, closed the door, and changed back into her own clothes.
At eight o'clock sharp, the three of them had breakfast together.
Liang Litang noticed that Deng Shilang had a dull expression, and Yao Ling didn't say a word after coming out of the bedroom. He guessed that it was another war between the exes, but he didn't care much about their atmosphere.
Deng Shilang watched Yao Ling put on her clothes and knew she must be feeling unhappy. But she was just like him; he would get hard, and she would get wet; her body was inevitably reacting. He hadn't said one thing to her last night: she had to make him hard to feel good, both mentally and physically, especially before they started dating.
