30. You have feelings for me

30. You have feelings for me

Liang Litang complained that she always ghosted others, and she didn't argue that she liked to ghost men depending on her mood, but he was her cousin after all, and he always thought about her, so she finally picked up her phone after taking a shower, conscientiously sent him the flight order, and told him the exact date of transit.

Within a minute, Liang Litang had read her reply, a Mickey Mouse emoji with starry eyes. She gave it a heart, and their brief chat ended. She knew Liang Litang's motive for sending the message; if Deng Shilang hadn't returned, he wouldn't have suddenly asked her at this moment.

The corridor was quiet; there were no new tenants next door. Yao Ling exited the chat box and played a random song. As soon as she heard the beginning, she remembered that this was a song Deng Shilang had shared before.

Their biggest shared hobby back when they were in school was listening to English music. She'd already noticed a subtle urge to follow him, even listening to the songs he shared, trying to figure out his moods by reading the lyrics. Later, she felt this was unlike her, so she moderated her interactions.

She had feelings for him from the beginning, but she continued to study hard, bringing her homework to his office every morning and quietly glancing at him at the bus stop after school, never deliberately creating coincidental encounters. He changed his sneakers, but she could tell by his shoes when he was around and remember who his friends were.

At the end of the second major exam, Yao Ling placed second, one point behind Deng Shilang. Originally, they had been five points apart, but this time the rankings had reversed, leaving them only one point apart. Some people said Deng Shilang was close to his high-achieving classmate, Pili, and that to pursue her, he hadn't slacked off in his studies, performing at his best in all subjects.

She believed it because she ran into them at the station and they looked a good match when they stood together.

Pili held her school uniform jacket as she spoke to him and handed him her phone. He took it, tapped something, bent down, and brought the screen closer to her. She read it, smiled, patted him, and got in the car with him.

Yao Ling gripped the straps of her schoolbag tightly and saw them sitting by the window.

The next morning, she was flipping through a book in the classroom when, as if by telepathy, she looked up across the hallway for him. He and Pili had just entered the classroom, one after the other, looking very close. Suddenly, her heart sank, and she immediately turned to stare at the book on her desk.

After reviewing it, Yao Ling decided to stop having a crush on him and to fight for the first place again.

The final class of the afternoon was a combined open class for Classes A and E. The English teacher's teaching schedule was identical, so there was no discrepancy between the two classes. They moved to the lecture hall. Yao Ling and Xiao Yu arrived early and sat in the middle row. Then they saw four people coming in and out together: three men and one woman.

Yao Ling had decided not to pay attention to him and lowered her head to write, but she heard Xiao Yu say, "DC was looking at us just now." She paused and looked up, only to see the back of his head, and his right hand that was flipping through the book from time to time and resting on the table.

At the end of the class, they still didn't communicate much.

A week later, Yao Ling tied for first place on a new test, but she still felt it wasn't enough. She needed to at least be five points ahead of him, like she had been the last time. She stood there reading the new list on the bulletin board when Deng Shilang appeared behind her and asked her to go with him to the library to pick up a batch of newly arrived English materials.

The English materials were not heavy, they were all booklets, and he helped her with a lot of the burden, taking them from the library to the office and placing them there according to the teacher's requirements.

"You didn't get first place last time, and you're tied this time. Aren't you happy?" Deng Shilang noticed something, but she remained silent, having just been standing in front of the list.

Yao Ling replied, "Not happy."

"Enjoy the desire to win that's five points greater than mine."

"Yes." She wanted to beat him.

Deng Shilang just smiled, put the documents away, and left the office with her. After school, he and his friends were preparing to play basketball on the playground. As she walked out of the teaching building and passed by the playground, she witnessed their warm-up shooting.

Suddenly, a ball thrown by a novice fell at her feet. She stopped there and picked it up.

Deng Shilang was the closest, walking toward her. He took the ball from her and tossed it to Lin Zhe behind him. Lin Zhe caught it with perfect acknowledgment, a delightful dimpling. But he didn't immediately return to the team. Instead, he turned back and asked, "Are you in a hurry to go home?"

"No rush." Yao Ling didn't know why he asked.

Deng Shilang took off his watch and handed it to her, "Wait for me." After that, he returned to the court.

Yao Ling, clutching the watch that carried his body temperature, found a seat by the flowerbed and watched them play. Deng Shilang often scored, high-fiving Lin Zhe whenever he made a shot, looking relaxed.

After playing a few games, Deng Shilang and Lin Zhe decided to leave and went to the locker room to take a shower and change into clean and fresh clothes.

"DC, I'm leaving first. Contact me on the phone." Lin Zhe said in the locker room after changing.

Deng Shilang responded, "Let's talk later."

He came out and walked towards the flower bed, where he saw Yao Ling sitting there waiting. He put on the watch she handed him, picked up his schoolbag, zipped it up, and gave her something in return.

Yao Ling took the flower-embellished snack bag and read the label: Hokkaido Rokkatei, HK$80, Strawberry Chocolate. She couldn't ignore those two words. Perhaps this was a gift he couldn't give to someone else, but as she sat in the flowerbed, she had a strong intuition that their interactions just now were very much like those of a boyfriend and girlfriend. She could sense that his actions were somewhat ambiguous. Unless she was mistaken, he treated everyone this way.

Deng Shilang picked up the schoolbag and found that she didn't want it very much, so he said, "You don't like it." This was Deng Yonglian's, and he thought of her when he saw it.

Yao Ling shook her head. She didn't dislike it. She opened it in front of him, ate one, and even put one to his lips to feed him. He paused, lowered his head and took it in his mouth, touching her fingers.

Yao Ling touched his lips, and just by doing so, she felt a tingling sensation spread behind her ears. She asked, "Is this for me?"

Deng Shilang held the chocolate she fed him, and as it melted in his mouth, he seemed to understand and changed his tone, "No pears."

Yao Ling was initially disappointed, but she still followed her instincts. Holding the bag, she said softly, "You have feelings for me."

Deng Shilang felt that she was testing him, and with a vague idea in his mind, he also said, "You're jealous."

She didn't answer and continued: "You were watching me in the open class."

He didn't expect her to say this, "Do you notice that I was looking at you because you care about me?"

"I care." Yao Ling finally answered.

Deng Shilang was startled and clarified to her, "She is Lin Zhe's girlfriend. They started dating two weeks ago."

Yao Ling made the connection and understood that he was helping them.

Deng Shilang suddenly said, "Feed me another one."

They were staring at each other in the shade of a tree, so close that the shadows cast their faces. Yao Ling took one and gently pressed it to his lips. She looked into his eyes, squeezing the bag tightly, already feeling a premonition that he was going to kiss her. In the next second, his face was close, and her heart fluttered. The tip of his nose gently pressed against the skin at the side of her nose, and he slowly stretched out his tongue to open her lips, passing the still-melted chocolate into her mouth. She tasted it, then slipped into his arms to exchange it with him.

After the kiss, many things fell into place. After confirming their relationship, Deng Shilang brought her into Class E, where she could officially meet his friends. When Pili and Lin Zhe learned they were together, they were curious about how long they would be together.

Deng Shilang initially said, "Let's just try it for a month based on our feelings."

"I bet we won't grow any taller." Pili felt that he was still young.

Deng Shilang smiled and said, "What's the reward for talking longer?"

"Rewarding love proves that two people get along with each other with patience, know each other well, accommodate each other, and grow together with confidence." Pear is very beautiful and outstanding in her grade, and she is more or less experienced in this area.

Yao Ling, listening to their conversation, understood that they were merely attracted to each other at this stage, not truly in love, the kind of proof that Pili had suggested. Perhaps the ambiguity would fade after a month. She had no expectations for the relationship, keeping it low-key enough to keep them from discovering it. However, as her boyfriend, Deng Shilang still gave her the best he could, taking her home from school every day, often delaying her a bit and causing Deng Yonglian's dissatisfaction.

Deng Shilang told his father that it was just for fun.

Who knew that a month later, they liked each other more and more, kissed in a secluded place in the library until their clothes were messed up, did it secretly, and then tried it from the library to the study room.

During the break from her first semester, Yao Ling stayed at Deng Shilang's house for two days. It was a Saturday, and Deng Yonglian and Jiang Si were both in Hong Kong. He showed her around his house. The entryway was filled with a dazzling display of sneakers, and the living room contained a cabinet of foreign wine and vintage British clothing. She could tell he came from a wealthy family; his watches, shoes, and other decorative items were all high-end.

Yao Ling took off her shoes and went into his room. She found the bottle of perfume and sprayed it on her wrist. The smell made her feel horny. Deng Shilang was leaning against the bookcase. When she turned around, he kissed her, took off his sweatshirt, and made love with her on the bed.

For two whole days, they had sex from morning to night, from the room to the living room, behind their parents' backs. At only eighteen or nineteen years old, they were tireless.

Yao Ling always wore his sweatshirts, which were too big and baggy. She would lie on the bed, reading his books and listening to the music he played. He would stare at her, occasionally kissing her cheek, but she would cover her mouth with her hand and say it was disturbing her reading. When she heard him talking on the phone with his parents, she would touch him and rub him, then lift her clothes and pinch her nipples in front of him. As soon as she hung up, they would start a new round of sex.

When Yao Ling went to the bathroom, she found very professional dental instruments and also saw an English certificate in the living room.

Deng Shilang noticed her curiosity in the living room. He felt their relationship had warmed after dating for a semester, so he took her home for two days. He then hugged her from behind and asked, "What do you want to know?"

Yao Ling put her arm around his waist, and he acted like a cradle, rocking her gently with a smile, and she swung along with him. The two of them were like a pendulum, playing intimately there.

"Your parents must be very powerful," she said.

“It’s OK,” he said. “My dad is a dentist with a clinic in Hong Kong. My mom worked at an auction house before I was born, and then she was transferred here.”

“So you’re studying here.”

“Always.”

It was Deng Shilang's turn to ask her, "What about you?"

Yao Ling smiled and said, "What do you think of me?"

"You are pure."

"Maybe it's hidden deep inside." She nodded, and the top of her hair rubbed against his chin, making him feel itchy.

He scratched her waist, "Indeed, the people in Class A should not be underestimated."

The two started to playfully argue. Yao Ling told him that her father was in construction and her mother was a language interpreter at a trade show.

On Sunday evening, Deng Shilang sent Yao Ling home. The two walked through the park and were intimate on the bench before they were reluctant to part.
