39. It hurts

39. It hurts

Inside the ice room, Chen Li'er was torn between composure and collapse. She was conflicted, wanting to flip something over, but one look at Yao Ling stopped the urge. She was Chen Li'er, and she had to think like Chen Li'er, not be at a disadvantage. She was still Deng Shilang's girlfriend, and there was no room for flaws or omissions in any aspect. She couldn't continue to belittle herself, acting like a heartbroken fool. She had to understand the details of their affair behind her back.

"How far have you come, mentally or physically?" Chen Lier endured the pain and began the formal interrogation from this sentence.

Yao Ling obeyed the other party's calm tone and said briefly and softly, "Body."

"He said he didn't deal with his desire for you well. Was it him who took this step first, or you?" Chen Li'er said, and began to weigh who she should blame.

Yao Ling replied: "It's hard to say."

Chen Li'er leaned forward and glared at her, "I don't want these three words. I want you to elaborate."

"Actually, I think you're very clear. From the moment you asked him to block me, you've been holding the view that your ex is a threat to your current partner. After all, two people have had sex before, and if they accidentally have sex again when they meet, it doesn't necessarily mean that the woman seduced first, nor does it necessarily mean that the man was the first to do so."

Chen Lier burst out laughing. She admired Yao Ling's foresight. Even though she was sad, her smile looked sweet, her lips curved. "What do you mean, blaming me for letting him block you? Shouldn't you have been blocked?"

"You're right," Yao Ling corrected. "But even so, we can't control ourselves."

Chen Lier's defense was stepped on and she almost lost her balance.

Deng Shilang and Liang Litang couldn't hear clearly from outside, they only knew they were talking, occasionally making loud noises. They didn't rush in to interrupt their conversation, but waited outside for a while.

Beneath the ice cream parlor sign was a statue of the Earth God, two oranges, offering them until their skins were wrinkled. Liang Litang, grinding the ashes he had left for the deity's protection, accidentally bumped into the oranges. Suddenly, an uncontrollable volume rose from the ice cream parlor. Chen Li'er told Yao Ling to leave her presence; she needed to calm down, or she'd throw a glass of water at her in a matter of minutes.

Upon hearing the voice, Liang Litang anxiously jumped down the stairs and said to Deng Shilang without saying anything at the critical moment, "You talk to Gigi, and I will take Rosalie away. I am her brother both emotionally and logically. Wait for me to talk to her. In this situation, don't interrupt Rosalie. Just take care of things between you and Gigi. That's it." He spoke quickly and his requirements were clearer than ever.

Deng Shilang nodded, understanding that this was a way for him to save face. He thanked Liang Litang and walked in. As soon as he entered the ice room, he bumped into Yao Ling head-on. He glanced at her and then looked away.

Yao Ling stopped in her tracks for no apparent reason. Seeing the red marks on his face and the look in his eyes, her heart was instantly tugged. She felt that he deserved it, but she was also dissatisfied with his guilt and regret. It was very annoying no matter what.

Liang Litang felt that the situation was difficult, so he immediately stepped forward, touched Yao Ling's shoulder, and asked her to turn around and lean against him, muttering: "Go, go, go."

Today, Chen Yu and Yao Shenhe went to Taiping Mountain. The B&B was empty with only the two of them left.

Liang Litang paced back and forth in the living room, his head spinning. He had originally thought she and Deng Shilang had broken up in mainland China, but he hadn't expected them to be secretly having an affair. After all, he had witnessed Deng Shilang and Chen Li'er's relationship, from its inception to its progression over two years. Now that this situation had suddenly emerged, he had unintentionally fueled it, and he was undoubtedly to blame.

Yao Ling was frustrated by him and asked him to calm down before going to the kitchen. "Stop walking around and sit down. I'll make some fruit tea. There are cookies in the cookie jar on the table."

There was a box of fruit tea in the kitchen. She boiled water, poured cups, and soaked tea bags.

While she was washing lemons, Liang Litang appeared behind her, leaning against the refrigerator and sighing, "You're a femme fatale indeed." He touched his earrings, put his hands on his hips, and brushed his hair back. After a moment of reflection, he said, "I've only known you for a short time, but we're still relatives. I guess I can say a few words as your brother."

"No." Yao Ling washed the lemon, placed the fruit knife on the skin, and sliced it with a snap, crisp and neat. She also poked the lemon slice with the tip of the knife and pointed it at him, "I've heard enough just now. She can talk, but you can't."

Liang Litang was in a difficult position facing the glowing knife this time. "Did she misunderstand you? Did you really interfere with her?"

Seeing that he was very persistent, Yao Ling replied, "She didn't misunderstand."

Liang Litang was very clear about right and wrong, and after confirming the facts, he couldn't defend himself. "Rosalie, you shouldn't be like this. They're not dating for fun."

"I really understand. No need to emphasize." Yao Ling turned back to the table and pushed the lemon on the tip of the knife into the cup. "He tried to control it, and I tried to control it too, but when we meet, we can't help it. What do you want us to do?"

Liang Litang was speechless. He understood the meaning of the words. Their suppressed desires would eventually explode, and now it had already exploded. "I really want to scold you."

Yao Ling handed him the brewed fruit tea and opened her mouth following the hot steam coming out of the teacup, "Who are you scolding me for?"

Liang Litang's first reaction after taking the teacup was to put it down, "Of course it's for Gigi."

"Then don't tell me who you are talking to me in. You and I have only been together for a short period of time. The three of you are so close, and I am an outsider," said Yao Ling.

"That's not what I meant." Liang Litang said in a serious tone, "They were originally very close and compatible in life and career. You have your own sp, so you didn't have to look for Hayden. Now you've made their relationship a mess and made Gigi so sad."

"From the day you took me to the bar, I made it clear that I'd been through this long ago and had no interest in his current situation. You were his friend, and I saw him often because of you. It was only later that we had sex that we started seeing each other more." Yao Ling boiled water and washed the cutting board and knife, the water trickling into the pool. "I could have had sex with him privately, but he couldn't bring himself to make it public first. He's not suited to having affairs, understand?"

Liang Litang thought he had misheard. He finally saw the true face of Yao Ling. She was different from Deng Shilang. She would do what she wanted to do, and even if it was considered immoral, she could face her desires with peace of mind. Deng Shilang, on the other hand, would admit his mistakes and try to get back on track.

"Since you said it's private, and now that he's single after the breakup, you can do whatever you want. You won't stop playing if it's not exciting, right?"

Yao Ling didn't answer directly, but said: "I can do it with him many times, more than you can imagine."

"Okay, you are sexually separated and you are not a shipwreck, so you can do it with him many times. Hey, he is a fool and will not be forgiven by Gigi. It will also be difficult for Gigi to get over the hurt caused by this triangle relationship. Only you are fine." Liang Litang insisted on his critical attitude.

Yao Ling paused after hearing this. How could nothing have happened to her? How could she not be overwhelmed? All she could think about was Deng Shilang holding her in the car last night, and the memory of her in his arms the night before he left for mainland China. Over the past five years, she'd been more ruthless than anyone else, able to separate sex from love, but her entanglement with him had suddenly failed her. She even tried to let go of all memories of him after their breakup.

She was scratching at the edge of the table, forgetting to turn off the tap. The water in the sink was about to overflow.

Liang Litang noticed her distraction, frowned, and immediately turned it off. He felt a little sorry, knowing that he had been harsh and pushed her too far away, making her feel isolated and alienated. He forgot that he was clearly to blame, the one who accidentally got in the way and shouldn't have spent so much time trying to distance himself.

After thinking about it, he hugged her stiff shoulders to comfort her, picked up the teacup, went to the living room to open the cookie jar and eat cookies, completely shut up.

With a biscuit only a quarter of its size left, Liang Litang was playing with his phone when he accidentally called Deng Shilang. He uttered a cry, the biscuit still between his fingers, and the other party answered the call.

His eyes widened, his voice suddenly louder, he cleared his throat and asked, "How are you guys doing?"

Yao Ling came out of the kitchen and just heard Deng Shilang's voice, "She has a headache and fell asleep after taking the medicine."

"Then..." Liang Litang's voice was still lingering.

Deng Shilang's breathing was slow. "She couldn't accept infidelity. Even if she wanted to be with me, she couldn't ignore the cracks. After careful consideration, she broke up with me. This was the first time I hurt her so much. It was very painful. I wanted to make amends for the damage I did to her, but I didn't know where to start. It's all my fault that she ended up like this."

Yao Ling's hand trembled, and she pushed the cookie jar to the ground. She endured the astringency in her chest, told Liang Litang it was okay, and then picked it up.

Deng Shilang heard it from the other side but didn't say anything.

Yao Ling suddenly asked, "Where are you?"

He was half a beat late and spoke tiredly: "I'm tired."

"Does your face hurt?" she asked.

He had the illusion of returning to the beginning, that he had to torture himself to get her attention. Her question was the most gentle he had ever heard. "It hurts."
