Chapter 74 A Spring Breeze on the Night
It's too early to talk about summer breezes, and too late to talk about spring breezes.
In short, the wind was fierce tonight, blowing the rice stalks flat and shaking the forest.
Aside from thunderstorms and heavy rain, this kind of weather is what night patrols at the outpost fear most.
Spy drones are completely unable to operate, and large reconnaissance aircraft cannot fly low, for fear of damage to their components from dust and debris.
On such a night, with the wind filling the air, the outpost was quiet inside and out, and the patrolmen didn't want to talk, as it would strain their voices.
The further out you go, the fewer outposts you see.
The dark shadow flew through the air unnoticed.
The closer we get to the base, the more reconnaissance aircraft there are, and the more olfactory sensors there are on the ground.
However, no sensors detected any unusual odor information.
The dark figure landed, following a patrol route, winding and turning until it approached the wall.
The walls were then even more heavily fortified.
First, the searchlights were kept on all night, illuminating the ground three feet away.
However, the beam of the searchlight is not fixed; the lamp holder rotates, and the light sweeps back and forth within a certain range.
There are occasional moments when, between two lights, there is a dark corner.
The shadowy figure waited outside the light for a while, then slipped close to the wall when it was out of sight.
The base of the wall is also dangerous. The walls and towers are covered with cameras, some infrared and some low-light.
These cameras have maximum night vision accuracy, and can accurately identify a rabbit digging a hole even in the darkest blizzard night.
Cameras and defensive weapons are both part of a defense system.
Once the camera identifies a hostile target and the target determination is effective, the machine guns and close-in weapon systems on the nearest tower will automatically aim and fire.
This demonstrates the strength of the new student base!
However, the shadowy figure had already entered the surveillance range of several cameras, but the tower remained silent.
Inside the base, there is a small single dormitory room of only 20 square meters, with soundproofing cotton on all four sides.
On the only small desk, an extremely thick laptop hummed, and the young man's fingers flew across the keyboard as he typed lines of code.
The data buffer was switched, and all signals transmitted from the cameras were redirected to the covert passage...
The surveillance footage continues to update, time flows forward, but the screen is empty.
Yao Du'an stood to the side, hands on his knees, his face showing admiration.
A shadowy figure...more than one shadowy figure, with a light leap, entered the base.
......
The wind lashed against the French windows, as if it were an anxious reminder.
But the people inside the window couldn't hear it.
Inside the window, there were gunshots, muffled thuds of limbs colliding, and sharp screams.
Just as Qi An's bone spur was about to touch Li Heng's neck, the tentacle broke off again!
It was the pale-faced guard in the pool of blood who threw the dagger.
Another, thicker tentacle was also severed, ripped off by the black-faced guard who pounced on it!
The black-faced guard's body was as hard as marble, as heavy as a mountain, and he pinned Qi An, this "demon," to the ground.
Qi An couldn't breathe for a moment, and his lumbar spine hurt as if it were broken.
Despite the absolute pressure and suffocation, her body was still trembling.
A trembling rage!
Footsteps echoed down the corridor, doors were flung open, and guards rushed into the lobby!
A small group surrounded Li Heng, protecting him as he retreated, while the larger group surrounded Qi An.
A pungent smell filled Qi An's nostrils; it was poison gas.
The entire room was filled with a grayish-green gas.
Those swaying, ghostly bodies and the dark muzzles of guns all became blurry.
Why are you putting me in such a difficult position!
I just wanted to rescue my friend!
The figures were blurry, but the command "Fire! Fire!" was crystal clear!
A hail of bullets was about to rain down, and the black-faced guard on Qi An's body was about to turn over and point the bullets to their targets.
But he couldn't get down; his whole body was lifted up!
Qi An, who seemed to have been crushed to the point of having all his bones broken and was on the verge of death, had two white bones protruding from his back.
"I just want myself and them to live a good life!!"
The screams were like a howling wind, while the white bones were like gleaming white jade.
The jade looked delicate and fragile, yet it lifted the black-faced guard, whose entire body had hardened, up by nearly half a meter!
The dark-faced guard was like an overly thick tent roof that was suddenly lifted up. Before anyone around him could react, he was pierced through both sides by bone spikes with a "plop" sound!
With a shudder, the two white bones were thrown off the black-faced guard.
Li Heng, standing outside the door, narrowed his eyes and shouted sharply, "Fire!"
Two thick, snow-white membranes stretched between the bone spurs.
The bones and membranes gently unfolded, then suddenly contracted, completely enveloping the small woman's figure!
A hail of bullets struck it, but none could penetrate it.
Amidst the sparks, bones continued to form, membranes thickened layer by layer, and finally, scales like white feathers sealed the flesh and bones completely...
The woman who had been lying prone straightened up, and a pair of large, snow-white wings spread out gracefully!
The whirlwind with outstretched wings dispersed the murky poisonous gas, and the small room was illuminated with a shimmering light, like a pearl being dusted off!
It was actually an extremely fast and amazing process; all the soldiers were gaping, momentarily forgetting to fire.
The woman with outstretched wings was as beautiful as a goddess, dazzling to behold.
However, anyone experiencing dizziness will instantly sober up if they fix their gaze on those eyes.
The deity has a pair of completely black eyes.
Many ribbon-like silk threads hung down from her wings, light and beautiful.
But the ends of the ribbons were strangely twisting and turning on their own!
It's not some deity; it's clearly an Ash Priest!
The firing line inside the room erupted into chaos, but they could all hear their captain's furious shout through their earpieces:
"Hold the line! Fire with all your might! Hold it off for 10 seconds!"
Those guarding this place were all elite troops; although there was panic, no one stopped firing.
Amidst the extremely dense hail of bullets, interspersed with individual grenade launchers and still-experimental thermal shells, it did indeed hold out for 10 seconds.
In those 10 seconds, a small group of more elite guards protected Li Heng as they rushed downstairs.
The roar of the helicopter grew louder as it approached, and its massive fuselage appeared before the floor-to-ceiling window.
The new base is indeed a large base. Even when faced with an "invasion by a powerful enemy," it responded in an orderly manner, demonstrating its substantial resources!
The helicopter's rotating cannon and small laser cannon were already aimed at the pale figure inside the room.
The captain was overjoyed and immediately shouted, "Three teams inside, retreat in order!"
The helicopters had enough firepower to cover their evacuation.
The captain felt that this Ash Priest didn't seem very strong.
He had fought against the White Priest with his team, and felt that neither the Ash Priest nor the White Priest was as strong in terms of pollution or offensive power.
Was this a disgrace to a superior wisdom insect? He couldn't help but wonder.
But the next second, the team standing at the front row, with the highest output, was about to leave, but they were unable to do so.
The player closest to the door fell flat on his face as soon as he took a step.
At some point, a thin tentacle appeared beneath his feet, and from there it grew even thinner branches that branched out from the heads of the people, wrapping around and pulling at everyone's ankles!
The five team members, like a string of grasshoppers, were lifted up by that tentacle and flung toward the side of the French windows.
The helicopter's rotary cannon opened fire, but the barrage of bullets all hit this string of "grasshoppers"!
The tentacles were too long, and the "grasshopper whip" was long enough that with one lash, it swept away the few remaining window frames of the French windows in a devastating blow!
The room was very spacious!
The whip lashed against the apartment walls, leaving the "grasshoppers" bloodied and mangled!
But the next second they were swung up again, this time with even greater force, the whip tip striking the helicopter's wing directly!
The helicopter suddenly lost weight and plummeted downwards, as bullets and the newly charged laser beams rained down on the building below.
The "Ash Priest" dropped the "Grasshopper," and its last two tentacles, one on the left and one on the right, severed the heads of the white-faced and black-faced guards.
She stepped forward, her toes touching the nose of the helicopter that was frantically pulling up.
Two tentacles pierced into the cabin, and within moments, all the weapons were destroyed. The helicopter, billowing black smoke, plummeted to the ground!
The Ash Priest seemed to be diving downwards even faster.
She swooped down for a second, spread her wings, and soared through the air again.
The Ash Priest crashed into another helicopter that had already flown a kilometer away!
Within seconds she was close to the plane, and the captain only saw a burst of fire!
The Ash Priestess, with a small figure coiled in her tentacles, burst out of the smoke and gracefully landed atop a tall building.
She...no, she's not weak...the captain thought blankly.
She seems to simply not crave killing or polluting.
