Chapter 15 Crisis of Destruction
Chen Yuezhou's surgery was completed at 9:00 AM.
Everyone in the operating room breathed a sigh of relief, relieved of their profuse sweating.
The surgery itself is the most dangerous moment; once the surgery is over, all that is needed is to continue fluid resuscitation for the patient.
Given Chen Yuezhou's formidable constitution, there was virtually no risk of infection, and his meninges, scalp, and even the fractures in his bone flaps would all heal within a few hours.
However, we must consider the neurological sequelae.
But this was already a huge success! Especially under these circumstances, it was a success that Liao Yang could hardly have imagined!
This surgery is worthy of being listed on the first page of his resume!
The gunfire outside subsided slightly, and the mental pressure that had been driving the pollution level up uncontrollably also eased.
"Well done!" Qi An informed Yu Shuang via mobile phone that the surgery had been successfully completed, and Yu Shuang responded with an excited shout!
"The purification masters, led by Teacher Tang... a total of 26 purification masters, along with some surviving medical staff and patients, have entered the lobby on the first floor," Yu Shuang said.
Qi An's exhausted spirits lifted! Teacher Tang is alright!
Zhou Yanying and the others removed the surgical equipment and wheeled Chen Yuezhou into a regular ward next door.
As soon as the bed was moved, Chen Yuezhou's eyelashes fluttered slightly, indicating that he was waking up.
The anesthetic expired very quickly in his body, and his pupils were in good condition, which made several doctors more optimistic about his prognosis!
Two minutes later, Tang Xinying led a large group of people, still in shock, upstairs.
This is truly the only safe haven in the hospital that has been turned into a paradise for fallen insects.
Upon entering the fourth-floor lobby and seeing the dozen or so special forces soldiers, though in plainclothes, who were ruthless in their pest control efforts, along with a dozen or so security personnel mixed in, everyone collapsed as if they had escaped death.
Although Tang Xinying was not seriously injured, she had a deep scratch on her thigh and her neck was swollen and purplish-red, as if she had been strangled by tentacles.
Liao Yang, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, immediately disinfected himself and used the gauze and bandages that Qi An had found to treat her.
This is a safe haven with many doctors and purifiers. Tang Xinying is not worried about anything happening to her. Instead, she smiles and praises Liao Yang's medical skills, as well as Qi An and her companions for being strong and reliable.
Although Qi An was exhausted, he couldn't help but smile.
The team members who were still patrolling the halls and dared not relax smiled with satisfaction.
Zhao Bohan led his men to count and inquire about the occupations of the fleeing crowd. Then, they methodically arranged for doctors to care for the wounded and for temporary cleansing specialists to manage the pollution levels of the local military and civilians.
Outside, the wind and rain raged, and inside, the few remaining lights flickered and shimmered, casting a dark and foul odor throughout. Yet, everyone in the building felt a moment of peace and reassurance.
But Qi An thought of the terrible source of pollution that she had been paying close attention to, but which suddenly left during the most tense moment of the surgery!
Moreover, although there are no more fallen insects inside or outside this building, many of the fallen insects from other parts of the hospital are heading towards this place.
The fallen insects have the instinct to sense normal human beings!
There were also many fallen insects in Qi An's field of vision outside the hospital, and their numbers were increasing!
Perhaps countless screams were buried in the sound of wind and rain, and the pollution had already spread to all parts of the base like a black spring.
Yu Shuang's voice was still very calm and even optimistic:
"With the help of the Public Security Bureau, we've killed at least two hundred insects. The building is now clean inside and out. Zhuang Xiao and the others have also received their equipment and are on their way here."
Our manpower can quickly double, if the military reacts promptly...
"Holy crap! What is that?!" The optimistic words suddenly turned into a scream at the end!
Qi An and Zhou Yanhui outside the door were both wearing earphones. At the same time, they felt a pain in their eardrums and their hearts skipped a beat. They rushed to the window without prior arrangement.
Qi An could only see a continuous curtain of rain, and everything was gloomy. She ran to the operating room door, picked up a monocular telescope from her canvas bag, and looked again.
She saw an angel hovering in the southern sky?
She came to this conclusion subconsciously, but reason immediately overturned it.
That can only be a flying fallen insect!
Zhou Yanhui was one of the S-level trump cards in the Martial God Team, alongside Gu Liansheng. He possessed superhuman speed enhancement and "farsightedness," allowing him to see clearly with his naked eye. He exclaimed in astonishment:
"Ash... Ash Priest?!"
His delicate face immediately contorted: "Has the ability to fly... at least at the level of an Ash Priest!"
"Damn it, the Ash Priest of the Northwest Legion has entered the battle!!"
In an instant, Qi An understood why the hospital had seen a surge of fallen insects, and also why the source of the contamination had left.
It went to "behead".
The spot where it hovered, the spot where Lu Yunbai had walked an hour ago... It must have been all the high-ranking officers in the base who made the Ash Priest abandon the hospital!
Qi An suddenly thought of the joke he had made with Chen Yuezhou before about "changing generals at the last minute".
At that moment, countless people in the base saw that figure at the same time, some confused and bewildered, others terrified!
Those who are terrified dare not look again after one glance, for fear that a second glance will corrupt them!
But Qi An was still watching.
Through the round field of view of the monoculars, the Ash Priest hovered in the air for only a few seconds before swooping down to the ground like the most agile and fierce bird.
Its form appears and disappears as it is obscured by buildings, but Qi An regularly runs around the edge of the base every morning.
She knew that every spot where it swooped down and extended its "claws" was a defensive tower.
Close-in weapon systems, laser cannons, gate towers, rocket artillery arrays, high-voltage electrical rooms...
No defensive point, no surface-to-air heavy weapon that could potentially harm it, could survive its "claws," and the guards and pedestrians near the edge of the base should all be undergoing mutations.
Thousands of fallen insects will be created as it frolics and flies about.
If they turn inward, hospitals and safety islands are nothing but bubbles beneath the tide!
Qi An realized this, as did Yu Shuang, and so did Zhou Yanhui and Zhou Yanying, the siblings.
Zhou Yanhui turned and rushed towards Chen Yuezhou's ward:
"What's the point of guarding this place?! Gather everyone, find enough vehicles, and we'll lead the headquarters out through the north gate!"
Zhou Yanying tried to calm her racing heart caused by the rising pollution levels, and then turned around as well:
"Go find the ambulance in the yard and use the shock-absorbing bed in the ambulance to place him."
I'm going to get the medicine. Your people need to get the hospital bed ready before I get it all back! Hurry!
Zhou Yanying's shout became even more firm and authoritative, and Zhou Yanhui immediately took action.
They are leaving.
The people who had just settled down in the hall immediately began to make a commotion.
As she came down from the rooftop, soaked to the bone, Yu Shuang almost instinctively shouted, "Don't go!"
Zhou Yanhui looked at him, but Yu Shuang was momentarily speechless.
If the goal was to survive, she couldn't think of any reason not to let them leave!
