Chapter 60 Wanted List

Chapter 60 Wanted List

The base definitely wouldn't want Qi An to go out, because there are security risks.

However, the exchange of supplies between North Base 1 and New Life Base was too frequent, and the several transport lines between the two bases were arguably the safest routes on the mainland.

The new student base unilaterally covered all the expenses for the journey and reportedly even provided an additional batch of supplies as compensation.

There are far fewer fallen insects around North 1. The terminal equipment of "White Tower" has suffered a lot of damage, and a new batch is being produced urgently. In terms of war, Qi'an is not needed as much for the time being.

Finally, with the addition that Qi An himself was willing to go, the application was approved.

Qi An went to Dongdaemun to assemble at 4 a.m. and saw three military off-road vehicles that looked like they had super high performance, seven or eight elite guards, and... Professor Shi and his apprentice.

Professor Shi, hunched over, with his hands tucked into his sleeves, sniffled in the chilly early morning wind.

Xiao Zhao had a large travel bag at his feet and an even larger one on his back. He looked completely dazed and sleepy.

"Going out in the apocalypse is no fun," Qi An said as he approached.

Professor Shi scoffed, "It's like a pie fell from the sky, and whatever I wished for came true. This is a gift from the god of papers! How could I give up such a great research opportunity for a little hardship?"

Qi An had long guessed that they wouldn't give up.

This person must have played a part in getting the application approved.

The captain of the guard squad stepped forward and saluted Qi An: "Hello, Lieutenant Colonel Qi! I am Ding Ze, the captain of the first squad of the King Snake Team of the 6th Regiment of the 3rd Division."

Qi An returned the greeting and shook hands with him, saying, "Thank you for your trouble."

"Not at all! This is a top-level escort mission. We will do everything in our power to protect your safety," Ding Ze said solemnly.

Qi An wasn't really worried about the safety of the journey, since it was a familiar route and the trip would only take 12 or 13 hours at most, without needing to stay overnight, and he would arrive by evening.

But halfway through their journey, they actually encountered a group of fallen insects.

Qi An warned from a distance, "It's on the high slope to the right of the mountain road ahead, less than two hundred strong, they look like highway robbers."

Upon hearing the number two hundred, Professor Shi and his companion huddled together.

But Qi An's broadcast was too clear, so clear that it was as if a model had been built in front of everyone.

More than a hundred insects, plus an apprentice priest, were overwhelmed by Ding Ze's team of eight and were defeated in less than half an hour.

The entire team stared at Qi An with shining eyes, but Qi An frowned as he looked at the apprentice priest's corpse.

The insect seemed to recognize her.

During the battle, some fallen insects scurried across the defensive line, and Qi An fired two shots.

She only made a brief appearance, and the "talking" among the fallen insects suddenly intensified.

The apprentice priest extended one of its tentacles upwards, over Ding Ze, clearly glancing in her direction.

After reading it, it sent a message into the distance and then charged towards Qi An without any regard for anything else!

Although Ding Ze stopped him and killed him immediately, Qi An still felt uneasy.

Could she have ended up on the Fallen Insects' "wanted list"...?

The extremely intelligent white priest beneath "Star Fortress" sent a message to the distance before it died.

Did it report her and Tan Fu's situation to its superiors in its entirety?

Did some worm find her photo and publish it to all the fallen worms?

"Let's go, don't delay!" Qi An climbed back into the car and urged repeatedly, "I have a feeling there are still Fallen Insects nearby, we need to hurry."

Ding Ze was deeply impressed by her fallen insect senses and respected her above all else, so he immediately ordered the speed to be increased.

Fortunately, they weren't far away. The convoy sped along for a little over an hour and soon spotted the support team from the new student base.

With a quick glance, Qi An's gaze locked onto the figure in black in the crowd.

The boy was standing by the car, but when he saw the flag waved by the car in front of them, he immediately stood up straight and took two quick steps forward.

But after taking two steps, he seemed somewhat at a loss and stopped in his tracks, staring blankly at the scene.

Qi An stuck his head out of the car window and exchanged a glance with Chen Xi from afar.

Chen Xi felt as if a cool hand had gently stroked her cheek during the extreme heat, instantly calming her down.

He regained his composure, and after the convoy stopped, he shook hands with Ding Ze'an, exchanged brief pleasantries, shook hands with Professor Shi and his students, and finally shook hands with Qi An.

The archives record his experiences working with Qi An on missions.

She looked up at him respectfully and said softly, "Long time no see."

The large hand suddenly clenched, and the boy's dark eyes locked onto her, even showing a hint of moisture.

He seems to have grown up a bit; his jawline is more defined, and his features are more striking.

But he was still different from Chen Yuezhou; Qi An could tell them apart at a glance.

Looking into the boy's deep, deep eyes, Qi An really felt an urge to ruffle his hair.

Chen Xi seemed to desperately want to bury his head in her arms, but Qi An gave him a disapproving look, gently withdrew her hand, and said to Ding Ze beside her:

"We need to leave quickly; I still feel unsafe."

Ding Ze immediately asked Chen Xi, "Chief Chen, can we set off now?"

Chen Xi's jaw seemed to bulge slightly, and after a half-second delay, she turned her gaze away and said calmly, "Okay, we'll lead the way."

The two sides then parted ways, with the convoy from the new base leading the way into the base's defensive perimeter and then through the main gate.

The gate was not as grand as that of Base North 1, and there were not as many vehicles queuing in front of it as at Base North 1.

However, the four large characters "New Student Base" are clearly and conspicuously engraved on the gate tower.

This is the new student base.

This is the mysterious and powerful new base that she has longed for since she joined the army, as if it were connected to her by thousands of threads!

Qi An stepped into the gate tower and stood on the street of the new student base.
