Chapter 148 Poisonous Blood Fox (1)

The two walked along, playfully bickering, until they reached the entrance of the villa area. There, they saw Shen Nanxing and his companion squatting solemnly on the steps not far from the entrance, seemingly examining a corpse.

Luo Yi and Luo Yue were startled and quickly walked over.

The two stared intently at the corpse on the ground and realized it was the bodyguard from the Luo family who was responsible for delivering the items.

"What happened?"

Luo Yue's voice trembled slightly as she looked at the bodyguard's corpse, her eyes suddenly reddening.

"Don't panic, he's not dead," Jiang Nian'an turned to look at Luo Yue and said gently, "He just fainted."

Luo Yi was much calmer than Luo Yue.

"Protect the young lady."

He turned around and gave instructions to his bodyguards, then strode forward and knelt down beside the unconscious bodyguard.

Shen Nanxing looked at him as he approached and said in a deep voice, "He has multiple scratches on his body, which appear to be the work of a mutated animal, but what made him unconscious was poison."

"Poison?" Luo Yi's brows furrowed involuntarily.

"Um."

Shen Nanxing moved the flashlight in his hand to the bodyguard's bluish-purple face, and then to his dantian.

A faint, earthy-yellow light occasionally emanated from his dantian.

"Perhaps the poison he was given wasn't potent enough, or perhaps his internal energy is fighting against the poison, which is why he hasn't died yet."

But judging from the color of his current power, he probably won't last much longer.

Shen Nanxing then shone the flashlight elsewhere.

There are many other survivors in the same situation as this bodyguard, lying on the ground, their fate unknown.

"benefactor?"

Just then, Qin Ran's voice suddenly came from a large tree not far away.

Jiang Nian'an looked up at the big tree and replied, "It's me!"

Qin Ran was overjoyed and quickly climbed down from the tree, running to Jiang Nian'an.

“My benefactors, I’ve finally waited for you.”

He took a couple of deep breaths before speaking again in a hurry.

"When we came up here, there was nothing unusual, and everyone was fine."

The survivors living here told us that the base members stationed here were lured away by several extremely fast mutated creatures before we arrived.

That's why we didn't go to check on the situation at the place where we fought earlier.

The three of us thought we were safe, but less than fifteen minutes later, a fox that was entirely blood red suddenly barged in.

It could spew poisonous mist from its mouth; any superhuman who inhaled the mist fell into a coma, just like him.

Qin Ran pointed to the bodyguards on the ground, "And those ordinary people without superpowers died on the spot."
