Chapter 16 Guardian Spirit

After lunch, Jiang Nian'an stood by the window, her gaze deep and thoughtful.

The appearance of mutated animals means that the rat swarm that brought devastation to the flower market will arrive in about half a month at most.

After the rat infestation, the flower market, or rather the entire G province, became a paradise for mutated creatures.

She needs to leave before that happens.

Where should we go?

Jiang Nian'an lowered her head in thought.

In her previous life, after escaping from the jaws of a mutated rat, she headed north.

They intended to go to Beijing, but ended up collapsing at the entrance to the mountain city.

He was then rescued by the defense force at the Yamashi base.

After waking up, she was unable to continue north and, with Shen Zhiyao, her burden, she simply stayed at the Shanshi base.

But to be honest, she didn't adapt well to life at the Shanshi base.

The mountain city base is surrounded by mountains and is constantly attacked by various mutated plants and animals.

Moreover, the roads are complex, which is very unfriendly to her as she doesn't have a good sense of direction.

I often find myself not knowing where my home is when I leave the house.

Or... Jiang Nian'an looked towards Beijing.

Let's go see that place we wanted to visit in our previous life, but never got to set foot there before we died.

Having made up her mind, Jiang Nian'an stretched and took out the crystal cores she had obtained from killing zombies that morning.

I'm going to take a break while I'm absorbing the crystal nuclei.

She first counted the number of crystal nuclei placed in the walnut space.

50, not one missing.

The 123 crystal cores in the five-square-meter space were not missing.

Could it be that she was so confused before that she misremembered the number?

Jiang Nian'an began absorbing the crystal core while doubting herself.

An hour later, she brushed off the white powder that had fallen on her body, picked up the knife, and went downstairs.

Continue fighting the zombies.

The flower market and Beijing are separated by most of China; you need considerable strength to get there smoothly.

This cut took another five hours.

It wasn't until nightfall that Jiang Nian'an, carrying a blood-stained knife, entered a supermarket.

Mutant animals have appeared, and the open rooftops are no longer safe.

The first floor of the supermarket was quiet.

Jiang Nian'an walked inside with a flashlight, and saw that everything was in a mess.

All the shelves that used to hold food and water were empty.

Jiang Nian'an was not surprised by the scene before her.

From the arrival of the apocalypse to the awakening of superpowers, a full week had emptied the coffers of those survivors who had been hiding at home, and also made them face reality.

Jiang Nian'an walked around the first floor and put the remaining useful items into her spatial storage.

They also collected a lot of empty shelves and put the last of the takeout orders scattered on the floor back on them before heading upstairs.

The second floor was filled with survivors, and various lights flickered, illuminating the entire space.

Perhaps fearing that their voices would attract zombies, no one spoke, and the place was quiet.

Under the watchful eyes of the many survivors, Jiang Nian'an found a quiet spot and sat down.

"Brother Chen, it's the same girl from before."

A voice that sounded somewhat familiar to Jiang Nian'an came from the corner, and she turned her head to look at the distance.

They saw Shen Nanxing and the other two sitting on the open ground next to the stairwell.

A look of surprise flashed in Jiang Nian'an's eyes. What a coincidence, they'd run into each other again.

Shen Nanxing was wiping his blood-stained longsword when he noticed Jiang Nian'an's gaze and looked up at her.

After a few seconds of eye contact, Shen Nanxing nodded slightly to Jiang Nian'an first.

Jiang Nian'an was taken aback, then nodded slightly in response before looking away.

Then I took out two rice balls for dinner.

Shen Nanxing looked at the rice ball that had appeared out of thin air in her hand, a look of surprise flashing in his eyes.

But after sensing the strange energy ball in his dantian, he suddenly realized something and continued to wipe his knife.

After Jiang Nian'an finished eating the rice ball, she took out a bottle of water from her spatial storage, tilted her head back, and gulped it down in one go.

Yunhua and Yunfan were stunned by their hearty eating.

They were used to seeing young ladies from wealthy families eating a piece of bread in three bites and drinking water in three sips, but this was the first time they had seen a girl with such a bold and unrestrained eating style.

Jiang Nian'an turned her head and glanced at the two of them expressionlessly. "What is it?"

"No."

The two quickly shook their heads, leaned back against the glass railing, and closed their eyes to rest.

Jiang Nian'an glanced at the two of them with some oddness, feeling that the way they had looked at her earlier was strange.

She yawned.

Although it was still early, she was really sleepy after a long day.

At this point, the disadvantages of being alone become apparent.

No one's keeping watch for her!

Jiang Nian'an's gaze swept over the survivors on the second floor; she couldn't guarantee that all of them were innocent.

The person next to her who gave her the dagger seemed quite upright, not like a bad person, otherwise—

Just as Jiang Nian'an was considering whether to collaborate with Shen Nanxing, who was standing nearby, a childish voice suddenly echoed in her mind.

To be precise, it came from inside the walnut space.

"I can keep watch for you."

"Who are you?"

Jiang Nian'an looked at the blue egg that had suddenly appeared in the walnut space, both surprised and astonished.

"I am the Azure Dragon, the guardian spirit of this space."

A giant blue egg, half a meter tall, floated at the edge of space.

The eggshell was engraved with some mysterious and profound runes, and it also emitted a pale golden halo, making it look mysterious and domineering.

"Guardian spirit?" Jiang Nian'an's consciousness circled the blue egg a few times. "If it's a guardian spirit, why didn't I see you when I opened the space?"

Her voice was filled with doubt and wariness.
