Looking at the two equally childish individuals, Jiang Nian'an and the other two could only manage a helpless twitch of their lips.
"Little brother, what are you doing?"
Shen Nanchuan strode to Shen Nanxing's side, but his gaze fell on the mutated octopus king, who was also staring at Shen Nanxing and the others with a puzzled look.
That dangerous guy actually came out; thankfully, he arrived in time.
As long as he's around, this mutated octopus king won't be able to harm his brother.
Shen Nanchuan clenched his fist silently in his heart.
"What, isn't it obvious?"
Shen Nanxing waved the skewers of vegetables in his hand at Shen Nanchuan, and then pointed to the barbecue grill that had already been lit.
Isn't this something that can be seen at a glance?
Stared at with disdain by Shen Nanxing, Shen Nanchuan touched his nose somewhat embarrassedly.
He could tell, of course, that the man was just trying to find a topic to talk about with his younger brother.
"You guys are having a barbecue here?"
Qiao Huaxi stepped forward, her brows furrowed deeply as she looked at the busy group.
Are these people crazy? They're grilling a mutated octopus king that could attack at any moment?
It's probably like it's automatically delivered itself to the mutated octopus king as a snack!
"Let's have a barbecue here, it's just right for the occasion!"
Fearing another conflict between Shen Nanxing and Qiao Huaxi, Shen Nanchuan quickly took over the conversation.
Qiao Huaxi looked at the pitch-black sea, smelled the sour and unpleasant fishy smell, and then turned to look at Shen Nanchuan, who was smiling obsequiously. Finally, she took a deep breath and kept all her words to herself.
Never mind, she's the sister-in-law, it's no big deal to give in to them.
Qiao Huaxi comforted herself.
At worst, she could just be more vigilant and keep a close eye on that mutated octopus king.
Although we can't defeat it, protecting Shen Nanxing and the others and getting them out of here safely should still be no problem... right?
"Little brother, shall Xixi and I help out too?"
Shen Nanchuan pulled Qiao Huaxi closer to Shen Nanxing and whispered, "Those two came along on their own. They said they have something very important to tell you. Do you want to go and talk to them?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Nanxing frowned slightly. "Yes, I understand."
He then handed the things in his hand to Shen Nanchuan, and then handed the things in Jiang Nian'an's hand to Qiao Huaxi.
It contained half a bag of limp, melted octopus tentacles and a handful of metal skewers.
Qiao Huaxi had never done such rough work as threading skewers before, and she had never seen those disgusting octopus tentacles after they were thawed.
She had never even eaten anything so soft and mushy before.
She forced a smile and silently repeated "I am your sister-in-law" three times in her heart before taking the octopus tentacles and iron skewers from Shen Nanxing's hands.
Shen Nanxing then looked at the Jiu Fang brothers, who had been standing not far away watching them.
"Second Young Master, may I have a word with you in private?"
Seeing that Shen Nanxing finally had a free moment, Jiu Fangjing gestured for him to enter, a polite smile on his face.
Shen Nanxing nodded casually and led Jiang Nian'an to a secluded spot.
Looking at Jiang Nian'an, who was being protected in Shen Nanxing's arms, Jiu Fangjing's eyes flickered slightly.
"Brother, what's going on with Shen Nanxing? Why does he need to bring a woman along when he's discussing business..."
Jiu Fangling pursed his lips, somewhat displeased with Shen Nanxing's actions.
Women are often seen as troublemakers, so the Jiufang family never allows women to participate in important matters; this is a rule passed down from their ancestors.
Shen Nanxing clearly knew this.
"Be careful what you say, and don't forget why we're here."
Jiu Fangjing originally wanted to take Jiu Fangling with him, but seeing his attitude, he ultimately decided to leave him there and wait while he followed.
How could the rules of the Jiufang family possibly restrain the Shen family?
Not to mention the two of them, even the head of the Jiufang family, their father, wouldn't dare to say such a thing.
Jiu Fangjing composed himself and silently followed behind the two.
After Shen Nanxing and Jiang Nian'an stood still beside a sandpit, Jiu Fangjing got straight to the point and told them what he knew.
"Second Young Master, the Lin family... is probably not of one mind with us anymore, and the Bai family, too, is probably disloyal as well."
After speaking, he observed Shen Nanxing's expression and found that he looked normal. He felt a tightness in his heart and couldn't quite figure out what Shen Nanxing meant.
This information came from the Luo family; of course, the Jiufang family themselves had also uncovered some clues.
He didn't believe the Shen family wouldn't know something that both their family and the Luo family could find out.
Since you know, why are you so calm? Are you putting on a show for him? Or—
Countless guesses flashed through Jiu Fangjing's mind, but he felt that none of them were accurate.
Shen Nanxing slightly turned his body to shield Jiang Nian'an from the cool sea breeze before looking at Jiu Fangjing and saying, "And then?"
Jiu Fangjing felt a tightness in his chest from his overly calm tone. "They might have betrayed us. Don't you have any thoughts about that?"
Why not attack them en masse? Should we suppress their initial signs of aggression as soon as they begin to make a move?
"Where's the evidence?"
Shen Nanxing didn't respond to him, his tone even more indifferent than before, as if he really didn't care about the matter.
"Evidence...evidence? No—"
Jiu Fangjing suddenly raised his voice, then abruptly stopped talking as if he had just remembered something.
He glanced discreetly at the troops stationed in the distance, and seeing that everything was still calm there, he lowered his voice and said, "Don't kid me, I don't believe you don't know about this."
The split of the six factions was inevitable.
The Qiao and Luo families will definitely follow the Shen family and be on one side.
The Lin and Bai families are like snakes and rats in the same nest, forming their own territory.
They are from the same family, Jiu Fang.
While seemingly a three-way standoff, they are actually the most passive, extremely vulnerable to simultaneous attacks from both sides, and forced to choose sides after suffering heavy losses.
