Chapter 314 Eavesdropping

The Lin family.

"A child and several men wearing Shen family defense team uniforms?"

Lin Ting stood with his hands behind his back by the fountain in the middle of the courtyard, looked up at the Shen family, and his eyes darkened slightly after hearing his subordinate's report.

"Are you sure it's not that kid named Xiao Longzhan who changed into new clothes?" He turned around and looked at the man in black behind him.

"Although we couldn't see the child's face clearly, he was obviously thinner and smaller than Long Zhan."

"Also, that kid named Long Zhan is still in Jilun City. He's already met up with Shen Nanxing and Jiang Nian'an, and they've even clashed with the Bi family's experimental subjects."

The man in black stepped forward, cautiously lowering his voice.

"Young Master, wasn't the Bi family's experimental subject just sent to Jilun City? How come Shen Nanxing and his group discovered it so quickly?"

His expression was rather grim. He took a deep breath, his voice filled with worry, "Could it be that the Shen family's influence has infiltrated the Bi family, and they have an informant providing them with information?"

"impossible."

Lin Ting's gaze lingered on the face of the man in black for a moment before shifting to the sculpture that gleamed silver in the moonlight. His voice was firm and unwavering.

"If Shen Nanxing and his men had an inside contact in the Bi family, they wouldn't have needed to probe step by step; they would have already taken action to eliminate us and then launched an attack on the Bi family."

They will absolutely not repeatedly slap us in the face and then offer us a sweet treat, making us want to go all out several times, only to pull back from the brink and constantly replan our escape route.

"You mean, in the end, we might not even act together with the Bi family?" the man in black probed.

"Oh, what do I mean?"

Lin Ting suddenly gave a self-deprecating laugh, a bitter smile flashing across his eyes. "Does my opinion matter? In the end, it's still Grandpa who decides."

He never advocated betrayal.

They were unwilling to perpetuate the grudges of their ancestors, nor did they intend to replace the Shen family and become the leader of the six families.

All he ever wanted was for the Lin family to survive this disaster.

"Young Master..."

The man in black opened his mouth, wanting to say something several times, but then realized that nothing he said would be appropriate.

The conflict between the two generations of leaders in the Lin family is not something he can interfere with.

"Forget it, let's not talk about these sleepless nights."

Lin Ting closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, his gaze was deep and calm.

"How are the children I asked you to secretly transfer doing now?"

"Their emotions are relatively stable. Only a few very young children cried for a few days after suddenly being separated from their parents, but they have accepted reality in the last two days."

"Um."

Upon hearing this news, Lin Ting's lips curled up slightly, revealing a genuine smile. "Besides ensuring their safety, remember to send the best teachers to instruct them."

"Yes!" the man in black quickly replied.

Lin Ting didn't speak again, but just looked up at the moon.

"Alright, go and report about that child to Grandpa."

After a long silence, he finally spoke again.

The man in black didn't dare to delay and quickly left.

"Remember, you must never let Grandpa or anyone from the Bi family know about their existence."

Just as they were about to leave the hospital, Lin Ting's almost inaudible voice came from behind them, "If it's the Shen family... just tell them your true identity."

The man in black felt a jolt in his heart and couldn't help but turn around to look at him.

Under the moonlight, Lin Ting's tall and slender figure appeared exceptionally lonely and desolate, yet also like a green bamboo, carrying a resolute determination to fight to the death.

The man in black's eyes dimmed slightly. He nodded silently, then turned and quickly left.

"Hmph, this kid from the Lin family has quite a plan!"

Dozens of meters away, a small, childlike woman with green hair was crouching among the dense branches of a large tree, intently watching Lin Ting in the courtyard through binoculars.

"What, did you find something good?"

Upon hearing this, the girl hanging upside down from the tree trunk like a bat flipped over and flashed to the side of the green-haired woman.

"Stay away from me!"

When the green-haired woman saw her approaching, she immediately and instinctively dodged to the side, her eyes warily fixed on the girl's hands with their sharp nails, which resembled the claws of a ferocious beast.

"Okay, okay!"

Fang Rongrong reluctantly moved back a little, while putting on special gloves. "Is this okay?"

She stretched out her hand and waved it in front of Du Lan.

Du Lan finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat down comfortably against the tree trunk.

Since Fang Rongrong was infused with a virus extracted from mutated bats, and her habits and physical characteristics became very similar to those of bats, she has been accidentally injured no less than five times.

"You still haven't told me what news you read?"

Fang Rongrong stared into Du Lan's eyes, a strange red light flashing in them from time to time.

Du Lan felt inexplicably uneasy, turned her face away, and looked elsewhere, saying, "Lin Ting secretly moved some of the Lin family's children."

"Oh?" Fang Rongrong's eyes darted around, the red light in them shining even brighter in the night. "Where were they moved to?"

Du Lan shook her head. "I don't know, he didn't say."

"Did he not say it, or did you not read it?"

Fang Rongrong narrowed her eyes slightly, looking at Du Lan with a suspicious expression.

If she could read lips, she wouldn't be so eager to get information from Du Lan, hoping to gain merit through that information and exchange it for the potion that would sustain her strength.

"Of course he didn't say it!"

Du Lan was annoyed by Fang Rongrong's accusatory tone. She turned around abruptly and glared at her, "If you don't believe me, then go read it yourself!"

After saying that, she jumped down from the tree, grabbed her binoculars, and stormed off.

"Such a temper... I only asked a couple of questions!"

Fang Rongrong, her face dark, muttered something under her breath and jumped down from the tree to chase after them.

After they left, two tree branches not far from where they had been squatting suddenly started to move.

'Hiss—'

They were two small snakes, completely black without a single blemish, as if they were part of the night, perfectly blending into their surroundings.

The two little snakes exchanged a glance, and one of them quickly climbed down the tree and chased after Fang Rongrong and the others in the direction they had left.

The other one glanced back in the direction of the Lin family's house, then climbed down the tree and quickly scrambled away in the opposite direction.

Gillen City.

'Pfft!'

In the narrow alley, Lin Jiayun slashed a mutated rat that pounced on her with a single stroke, then slid weakly to the ground against the wall.

"Those damn bastards, they actually dared to leave me here all alone!"

She awkwardly raised her hand and hastily wiped her sweaty face with her blood-stained sleeve.

"Are we really going to abandon Miss and let her fend for herself here?"

Outside the alley, Lin Ziquan secretly glanced into the alley and asked his captain with some reluctance.

"Then go keep her company!"

Lin Sheng glanced at him, casually sprinkled some white powder at the entrance of the alley, and then turned and left.

"Hey! Captain, wait for me!"

Lin Ziquan didn't dare to say anything more and quickly followed.
