Gillen City.
When will the reinforcements finally arrive?!
In a garbage dump on the outskirts of the city, Bi Zechen hid in a cramped and filthy corner, staring intently at the old man, his face unusually grim.
"Almost there, just two more hours."
The old man was also in a terrible mood, but he still patiently answered Bi Zechen.
"You've said that three times already!"
Bi Zechen jumped up, kicked the wall hard, and hissed, "How much longer am I going to stay in this godforsaken place?!"
"Either the locator is malfunctioning, or the reinforcements have run into the group that was chasing us."
Compared to Bi Zechen's breakdown, the old man seemed much calmer.
"But in either case, we have to stay here."
Even if reinforcements don't arrive in two hours, we have to wait until dark before we can leave and then seek a chance to save ourselves.
"snort!"
Bi Zechen knew the old man was right, but he couldn't swallow his anger, so he suddenly turned around and rushed out.
The old man's expression changed, and he quickly chased after them.
They pulled Bi Zechen back just in time before he rushed out of the garbage dump.
"Calm down!"
The old man pulled Bi Zechen back to the corner, suppressing his anger as he said, "The outside is swarming with their people and beasts. Going out now means certain death!"
"So be it!"
Bi Zechen gave the old man a wicked grin, looking completely indifferent. "Anyway, nobody cares whether I live or die~"
"Who said that?!"
The old man pressed down hard on his shoulder, forcing him to sit on the ground, and then sat down next to Bi Zechen.
"The patriarch has put so much effort into training you, he won't abandon you whether you live or die!"
The old man tried to persuade him earnestly, but all he got in return was a disdainful sneer from Bi Zechen.
"You're so old, how can you still be so naive?"
I'm just a pawn in his game; who would bother with a pawn?
Bi Zechen's sarcastic and indifferent gaze silenced the old man who still wanted to say a few words for the Bi family patriarch.
"So you don't want that girl to be your older sister anymore?"
After a long while, the old man sighed softly and spoke again.
This time, it was Bi Zechen's turn to remain silent.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment, and every second felt incredibly long.
"I was thinking about it..."
Ten minutes passed before a faint, ethereal voice, seemingly emanating from the void, slowly emerged from Bi Zechen's mouth.
His once upright posture gradually became hunched over, as if he had been crushed by an invisible pressure.
"Ah, my family can't give me warmth, so I'm actually hoping to get it from a stranger..."
Finally, Bi Zechen, looking utterly dejected, slowly moved toward the wall behind him and leaned against it helplessly.
"Actually, it would be better to die like this."
He murmured to himself, not knowing whether he was speaking to himself or to the old man, "Anyway, I've had enough of this kind of life."
Bi Zechen stared blankly at the entrance of the garbage plant.
If he is successfully rescued, he will definitely face various intensive experiments.
He could almost imagine the pain that went deep into his bones and soul.
"It's better to live a miserable life than to die a good death."
The old man patted him gently on the shoulder, "Once you have the strength to look down on others, no one will dare to treat you like this again."
"Strength... what kind of strength qualifies as strong..."
Bi Zechen looked down at his hands, his eyes revealing a hint of confusion and bewilderment.
Wisps of black mist emerged from his palm, twisting and swirling in the air.
"When you can control these black mists at will, make them completely obey your commands, and no longer have any situations where they get out of control."
Upon hearing this, Bi Zechen forced a smile, his lips twitching slightly. "Are you trying to persuade me to willingly accept their manipulation?"
The old man turned his head and glanced at him, then snorted coldly, "The truth is, whether you like it or not, you have to accept their manipulation."
Bi Zechen shrugged and didn't say anything more.
The old man didn't speak again, leaning against the wall and closing his eyes to rest.
Two hours passed in the blink of an eye, and no reinforcements arrived.
The old man frowned as he looked at the red dot on the locator in his hand, which had moved less than a kilometer. A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes.
"Do you think they don't want to come to rescue us, or are they really tied up?"
Bi Zechen leaned closer to look at the locator, a half-smile on his face.
Is this the main point right now?
The old man put away the locator, touched the ring on his index finger, and a thoughtful look flashed in his eyes.
A moment later, he channeled some alien energy into the ring.
Immediately afterwards, the ring emitted a dazzling light, and then some things fell to the ground out of thin air.
"This ring?"
Bi Zechen looked at the old man's ring with a mixture of curiosity and interest.
"This was personally handed to me by the head of the family before I set off."
It is a temporary spatial ring made by a spatial ability user using a level 6 crystal core. As long as you input alien energy into it, you can temporarily gain the right to use a five-square-meter space.
It can be used five times in total. After all five uses are used, the ring, its internal space, and all items within it will be automatically destroyed.
"Using a level-six crystal core to make such a useless thing, that's really extravagant~"
Bi Zechen withdrew his gaze and leaned back lazily against the wall.
"Useless stuff?"
The old man chuckled, picked up the rice ball and water from the ground and stuffed them into Bi Zechen's arms. He then took a bag of crystal cores and placed it in front of him, saying, "But if we don't have this useless thing right now, we'll have to endure hunger and the weakness and discomfort caused by the lack of alien energy."
