Chapter 386 A roar repelled the zombies

After dinner, Jiang Nian'an left some fuel for Shen Nanxing and the others to keep watch, and then took the four little ones to another tent to rest.

Da Huo quickly built a bonfire in front of the tent and then threw a ball of fire onto it.

Then he found two stones and placed them next to the fire, and Shen Nanxing threw two cushions on top of them.

After sitting down, Da Huo stared at the flickering flames with some unease.

He really didn't want to be alone with Shen Nanxing!

"Actually, you can go and rest too."

Da Huo raised his head and looked around, then lowered his voice, "I'm a zombie. I can go ten days and ten nights without closing my eyes and I won't feel tired. I can keep watch by myself."

Upon hearing this, Shen Nanxing glanced at him sideways, then got up, lifted the curtain, and went inside.

The fire suddenly felt much more relaxed and added some more charcoal to the fire.

He didn't feel cold at all, but on such a cold night, some firelight always adds a touch of warmth.

Around midnight, snow began to fall heavily from the sky again, and the bonfire in the square gradually went out amidst the swirling snowflakes.

Only the fire, maintained by supernatural powers, still burned brightly in the face of the raging flames.

As time went on, the temperature continued to drop, and the survivors shivered from the cold, their teeth chattering uncontrollably.

They tried to wrap themselves tightly in their clothes, attempting to retain some warmth, but to no avail.

Unfortunately, almost all the houses in the town center had collapsed and were uninhabitable.

There are some intact houses on the edge, but outside the town there are mutated beasts and zombies out foraging for food, so it's safer to gather in the square.

After another half hour, some people finally couldn't resist and started walking towards the houses on the edge of town.

They will either freeze to death or be killed by mutated creatures.

At least the latter can give you a quick and painless end!

Many people had their eyes on Jiang Nian'an and his group's tent and the ever-burning fire, but because they didn't know their strength, they didn't dare to make any rash moves and just lingered around the area.

Da Huo glanced at them, a ruthless glint in his eyes.

He would not hesitate to kill any of these people who dared to cause trouble.

He is not human; he has no compassion or pity for these people as a fellow human being.

Just as the fire was grinding its teeth, ready to strike at any moment, Shen Nanxing came out of the tent.

He looked around and his gaze fell on the extinguished fires.

“Go help them!” Shen Nanxing turned to Da Huo and said.

Okay~

Da Huo shrugged, got up and walked towards the extinguished fires. He raised his hand, and a blazing flame appeared in his palm.

The survivors' expressions changed drastically when they saw the flames in his palm, and they immediately kept their distance from him.

Too lazy to light each fire individually, Da Huo simply tossed the ball of fire in his hand into the air.

The next second, the fireball burst open like fireworks, and countless sparks fell with the snowflakes, landing on the extinguished fires.

With a loud bang, flames leaped up, and the fire regained its warm heat.

The snowflakes instantly evaporated into wisps of mist, which dissipated with the night wind.

The raging fire turned to look at the survivors who had taken cover, and gently raised its chin. "Alright, stop hiding, go warm yourself by the fire!"

The survivors shuffled slowly toward the fire, staring at it in disbelief, fearing that he was just bluffing to lure them in and kill them.

Da Huo snorted, turned around, strode back to the tent, sat down, and continued to stare blankly at the fire.

Seeing that he truly meant no harm, the survivors quickened their pace, eventually running almost frantically to the fire, basking in the warmth emanating from its flames.

'roar--'

The good times didn't last long. Just as the survivors were recovering from being nearly frozen, the sounds of zombies came from behind the ruins.

They seemed to have been attracted by the fireball from earlier.

Da Huo jumped to his feet, took a deep breath, and roared into the distance, "Get the hell out of here!!"

The roaring sound disappeared instantly, followed by a clattering sound, as if a heavy object was rolling down.

The survivors couldn't help but exclaim in amazement, "Amazing! They scared away the zombies with just one roar!"

The fire raised its head amidst the survivors' adoring and astonished gazes, and sat down with a proud expression.

However, the next moment, Xiao Liang'an rushed out of the tent and glared at him angrily, "Da Huo, you woke me up!"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"

The fire instantly cowered, lowering its proud head and repeatedly apologizing.

The survivors looked at the fire, then at little Liang An, and couldn't understand why the towering fire would be afraid of such a tiny creature.

Xiao Liang'an walked up to the fire, reached out and gave it a good rub on the face, then snuggled into his arms, saying, "Fine, I'll stay with you."

Jiang Nian'an and Xiao Longzhan, who peeked out from the tent, exchanged a smile upon seeing this scene, and then retreated back into the tent to continue sleeping.

Zombies don't need to sleep, but they do!

Shen Nanxing shook his head helplessly, then crouched down and crawled into Jiang Nian'an's tent.

"Brother-in-law, go sleep on the bed next to me, don't squeeze me!" came Xiao Longzhan's angry complaint from inside the tent.

"I didn't push you, I just wanted to hug my An'an~"

Shen Nanxing's calm voice mingled with Jiang Nian'an's muffled laughter, which made Xiao Longzhan angrily slap the blanket a few times.

"Alright, stop fooling around and get some rest. We have a long journey ahead of us tomorrow!"

In the end, it was Jiang Nian'an who spoke up and stopped the two from bickering.

Soon, the tent became quiet.

Feeling a bit bored, Xiao Liang'an, who was waiting outside, ran into another tent and took out a few sweet potatoes and a bag of marinated meat.

"Let's grill something!" Xiao Liang'an suggested in a low voice.

"Okay, okay!"

As a foodie among zombies, Da Huo loved the suggestion and immediately threw the sweet potato into the fire.

They opened the bag again, took out the meat with skewers, and stuck it next to the fire.

Then he and Xiao Liang'an sat by the fire, their eyes fixed longingly on the meat and sweet potatoes.
