Chapter 325 The Whole Story

After treating the wound, Yunfan gave him some water.

After finishing his drink, the boy stared intently at the leaping flames and began to speak slowly.

"After the disaster broke out, the village chief led us to escape to Tielu Town. Under the leadership of the town mayor, we united to resist the enemy and barely survived."

But the peace didn't last long before the town was attacked by many monsters.

They killed all the elderly and disabled people in the town, and took away all the superhumans.

Then another group of people arrived and they confined us.

They only get one meal a day; they won't starve, but they won't live well either, and every now and then a group of people will be taken away.

Those who were taken away never returned, leaving behind those who lived in constant fear.

Finally, after another group of people disappeared without a trace, the remaining people could no longer suppress their panic and resentment arose. With the idea that death was the worst that could happen, they began to rebel.

The village chief, along with the surviving villagers, took advantage of the chaos to hide my brother and me in a cellar.

That cellar connects to the road outside; it's an escape route we just dug out, and we still have some food stored inside.

The village chief told us to take the food inside and leave the town as quickly as possible, and try to get to the Yunchuan City base for help.

My brother and I took advantage of the chaos to escape and ran along the main road.

On the way, we encountered a group of people also heading to the Yunchuan City base. We mingled with them and traded most of our food for protection from a small team of three superhumans. We made our way to the Yunchuan City base.

We went to the Yunchuan City base as the village chief told us, but they were unwilling to send anyone to rescue our fellow villagers. They just gave us a letter and told us to go north to Beijing.

They said that if we could get to Beijing, perhaps our fellow villagers could still be saved, since they wouldn't confront those people anyway.

My brother and I couldn't just stand by and watch our fellow villagers die, so we took the letter and mingled with the other survivors heading north to Beijing, continuing our journey.

We encountered countless attacks on the road, but fortunately, many of the survivors in our group were people with superpowers.

While they were protecting themselves, my brother and I also benefited.

After surviving several brushes with death and traveling for over a month, I finally arrived here.

"Since they took the superhumans away from the beginning, why weren't you and your brother taken away?"

The boy's words were full of flaws, and Yunfan, who had relaxed his guard a little, became wary of him again.

"Because my brother and I aren't superpowered..."

The boy turned to look at Yunfan, his face full of confusion, not understanding why he would ask him this question.

Yun Fan was taken aback. "You are not superhumans, but you clearly have fluctuations of superhuman abilities on your bodies!"

"Special ability fluctuations? How could we possibly have special ability fluctuations..."

The boy subconsciously touched his body, his expression showing even greater confusion.

"If the two of us had awakened our superpowers, we wouldn't have had a chance to get here; we would have been killed by those people long ago."

Yunfan carefully observed the boy's expression, and his expression did not seem fake.

Now it was Yunfan's turn to be confused.

"Could it be that I've already developed Alzheimer's at such a young age, and my perception is malfunctioning?"

He stroked his chin and muttered to himself, "But this shouldn't be the case. With my intelligence, even if I really get old, it's impossible for me to get Alzheimer's!"

The boy looked at Yunfan, who was suddenly acting strangely, and felt inexplicably scared. He couldn't help but shrink back into the sofa.

It took Yunfan quite a while to come to his senses.

"I'm heading back to Beijing anyway. Once your brother wakes up, you two can come with me!"

As he spoke, he walked over to another boy who was still unconscious and reached out to touch his forehead.

Only then did they realize that the boy was burning hot.

"No wonder he didn't wake up, he had a fever."

Thankfully, I brought the portable medicine kit that An'an had given me before leaving the house. It contained effective fever reducers, otherwise this kid might have been driven crazy by the fever.

While muttering to himself, Yunfan rummaged through the bottom of his backpack and pulled out a small medicine box.

The boy was worried because his younger brother had a high fever. Suddenly, a bottle of water and a pill appeared in his hand.

“Give it to him.”

"good!"

Yunfan's repeated help made the boy somewhat dependent on him, and he quickly crawled to his younger brother to feed him medicine.

Yunfan walked to the window and looked up at the sky outside. The sky, which had just cleared up, had become gloomy again.

The little black snake hasn't returned yet, and there's no movement nearby.

Yunfan leaned against the wall, pondering once again the boy's words.

If they are not superhumans, then why do they have superhuman energy fluctuations?

He recalled the boy's words and analyzed them in his mind, word by word.

Suddenly, Yunfan thought of something and abruptly stood up straight.

"Children, what do they feed you every day?"

"Steamed buns and water."

The boy answered honestly.

"Steamed buns and water..."

While Yunfan was pondering, the boy pursed his lips, hesitated for a moment, then looked up at Yunfan and said, "My name is Shi Fei, and my younger brother's name is Shi Jun."

"Hmm? Oh."

Yunfan nodded absentmindedly, then asked Shifei, "Do the steamed buns and water taste the same as the steamed buns and water you usually eat?"

"smell......"

Shi Fei frowned and tried hard to recall, "It was a bit sour and a bit hard, like an old steamed bun that had been sitting out for many days."

"After eating, did you experience any discomfort?"

I feel a little dizzy.

But all they gave us each day was half a fist-sized bun and a small cup of water. I couldn't tell if there was something wrong with the food they gave us, or if we were just hungry.
