"Brother Chen, An'an, over here!"
When they were halfway there, Yunhua and Yunfan arrived in their car to find them.
"Your Majesty, please sit cross-legged in the middle of the back seat."
Jiang Nian'an opened the trunk and gently patted the king.
The king immediately climbed up to the back seat.
Shen Nanxing put the sack in the trunk and the two of them got into the back seat.
"Shall we go to the gas station again?"
After starting the car, Yunhua turned around and asked Shen Nanxing and the other man.
"Go ahead, add some gas to the car and the gas can."
Jiang Nian'an glanced around the space and said, "Nearly half of the gasoline we stored earlier has been used up."
"Okay, then I'll continue on my way to the gas station."
Yunhua turned around and drove out of the village.
Some of the braver villagers climbed out of the cellar when they heard the car leaving.
After discovering that Shen Nanxing and his three companions had left the village, he cheered and called out to all the surviving villagers.
"They're gone, they're gone, they're gone!"
"real?"
Some villagers didn't believe it and went to the village entrance to see.
They were finally relieved to see that Shen Nanxing and his group were indeed heading towards the highway exit.
"Oh no!" an auntie exclaimed, slapping her thigh. "The village chief is still on the highway. Could he have been beaten to death?"
Everyone shuddered when they recalled Jiang Nian'an's frenzied smashing.
"Impossible, I heard the village chief talking to them in front of Erwa's house at that time."
"Really? What did you say?"
"They're talking about compensation, cars, supplies, and stuff..."
The person speaking scratched their head. "It's a bit far away, so I can't hear very well."
"The vehicle, the supplies... Oh no! Could they have gone to our village's supply depot?!"
Someone exclaimed in surprise and ran towards the end of the village.
Seeing this, the others quickly followed.
Supplies are their lifeline!
Just as they approached the end of the village, several wolf howls were heard from outside.
Before anyone could react, more than thirty wolves sprang out from the fields behind the village.
These wolves were a size larger than the wolves before the apocalypse, and looked extremely fierce.
"Waaah—"
The wolf king let out a long howl, and the pack of wolves immediately bared their teeth and claws and pounced on the group.
"A wolf! It's a wolf!"
"Run!"
"Get into the cellar, quick!"
The villagers scattered in panic, but they hadn't gone far before the wolves caught up with them.
People were constantly being tackled to the ground, then bitten to death and devoured.
"ah--"
"Help! Help me!"
The stench of blood permeated the entire village, and piercing screams echoed everywhere.
No one else dared to help; they all wished they had eight legs so they could run faster.
However, humans only have two legs and can't outrun a four-legged wolf.
Soon, several more older women and men were bitten, fell into pools of blood, and were then devoured by the wolves.
"I'll fight you to the death!"
A villager rushed up with a shovel, about to strike the wolf's head as it devoured the carcass, but was instead pounced on by another wolf that rushed out from the side.
He bit off his throat.
This scene caused the villagers, who had initially intended to fight the wolves, to retreat once again and continue their desperate escape.
"Oh right, there's a car at the west end of the village, let's drive away!"
A tall, thin man suddenly remembered this.
A man can't outrun a wolf, but a car can, right?
He told the dozen or so people around him, and then ran towards the west end of the village.
The others hurriedly followed.
Three wolves followed behind them.
The three wolves seemed to really enjoy the feeling of chasing people until they were panting and howling.
They followed the group of people at a leisurely pace.
The willows at the west end of the village are lush with leaves, and their branches sway gently in the wind.
Under the sunlight, it radiates a soft green glow.
The tall, thin man felt a surge of emotion upon seeing the vibrant willow tree.
"Fellow villagers, run faster! If we can get to the big willow tree, we'll be saved!"
A group of people mustered all their strength and rushed towards the big willow tree.
The three-headed wolf stopped the moment it saw the big willow tree.
Animals' instincts tell them that there is danger ahead.
"Hey Liangzi, those three bastards aren't chasing us anymore!"
When someone heard that there was no sound behind them, they subconsciously turned around.
Just then, the three-headed wolf stopped in its tracks, looked up at the big willow tree, bared its teeth, and kept growling.
The tall, thin man, Liangzi, was delighted upon hearing this. "This is perfect! Let's get in the car and go!"
A group of people rushed to the tree and were about to get into the car when an unexpected incident occurred.
The trunk of the large willow tree suddenly began to sway slightly.
Countless willow branches, like vines, wrapped around the villagers' bodies.
"ah!"
Before anyone could react, they were lifted into the air by the willow branches.
The willow branches continued to twist and tighten.
In just a short while, more than a dozen people were wrapped up like green balls.
Screams, incredibly shrill and chilling, emanated from inside the green sphere.
The screams stopped in less than a minute.
The willow branches stretched out again, their leaves stained with blood.
Liangzi and the others had turned into shriveled corpses and fell from mid-air.
"Is that willow tree some kind of spirit?"
Yunfan stared in disbelief at the willow tree that continued to wave its branches, attempting to attack the three-headed wolf.
Yunhua narrowed his eyes. "Given this situation, it's almost like it's become a spirit."
"Second brother, third brother, when you went to look for the car under that tree just now, weren't you attacked by it?"
