After leaving Zhou Hong's ward, Zhou Ran sent Xia Shige and Xia Huiyin all the way to the hospital's underground garage, and watched them leave before returning to the ward.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he reached the door of the ward, he bumped into Wu Jiali and Wu Zhuo, the aunt and nephew who came to visit the patient.
Wu Jiali and Wu Zhuo, one holding a bouquet of flowers and the other carrying a basket, were negotiating with the Zhou family bodyguards who stopped them.
Seeing Zhou Ran coming over, Wu Zhuo smiled and quickly greeted Zhou Ran, "Zhou Ran, I heard that Uncle Zhou is sick, so we came to visit him. I wonder if Uncle Zhou is available now?"
Wu Jiali at the side also nodded, with just the right hint of worry on her dignified face.
She is nearly 40, but has maintained herself well. Apart from the slightly sunken eye sockets that occasionally reveal a bit of fatigue, the years have left almost no trace on her face.
Like Wu Zhuo, she was tall and slender. Because it was cold, she wore a long windbreaker, revealing her graceful swan neck, like a model who had just finished a catwalk show.
It was common knowledge in the wealthy circle that Wu Jiali was pursuing Zhou Hong, so after learning that Zhou Hong was ill, Wu Jiali immediately brought Wu Zhuo to visit him. Unexpectedly, they were stopped by Zhou's bodyguards at the door.
Zhou Ran frowned secretly in his heart, but he still smiled politely and replied: "I'll go see if uncle is awake now. Please wait a moment."
Watching Zhou Ran leave, Wu Jiali sighed calmly. She raised her hand to arrange the flowers that she had specially ordered in her arms, thinking about how to ask him to stay and take care of Zhou Hong later...
Zhou Ran knocked on the door of Zhou Hong's ward. Zhou Hong was standing by the window, looking out, not knowing what he was looking at.
Zhou Ran was startled and said quickly: "Uncle, why are you standing up? Lie down quickly! Be careful not to open your wound!"
Zhou Hong shook his head nonchalantly and replied, "I'm fine. I'm just standing to help digest my food. If I lie down, my butt will be covered with grass."
He felt that his wounds had gotten worse. It still hurt a little when he just woke up, but it didn't hurt that much after lunch. If the doctor didn't forbid it, he could go back to work now!
Seeing Zhou Hong's calm appearance, Zhou Ran could only nod and say, "Uncle, just as you are in high spirits, Aunt Wu Jiali and her niece Wu Zhuo are here to visit you. Do you want me to call them in now?"
Zhou Hong was stunned when he heard this, then he walked back to the bed in two or three steps, lay flat on the bed, closed his eyes, and said in a deep voice: "I'm a little tired and need to rest. Please help me refuse them."
Zhou Ran's mouth twitched, but he didn't say anything more.
He walked out of the ward and came to Wu Zhuo and Wu Jiali. Facing their expectant gazes, he said in a slightly apologetic tone, "I'm sorry, my uncle is asleep now and it's not convenient for him to see guests. When he wakes up, I'll let him know that you two have been here."
Wu Jiali's smile froze for a moment, then she maintained a proper smile and said softly, "It's okay, I came at the wrong time. Please give the flowers to him for me. I wish him a speedy recovery. I will come to visit him again in two days."
The two handed the flowers and basket to the bodyguard and left.
On the way home, Wu Zhuo looked at Wu Jiali's expression and whispered to comfort her: "Aunt, don't be sad."
Wu Jiali sighed, shook her head gently, and replied, "I'm fine."
Although she hit a wall the other day, Wu Jiali didn't feel too sad. After all, it wasn't the first time that Zhou Hong rejected her. She had been pursuing Zhou Hong for more than ten years, and Zhou Hong's attitude had always been very clear: it was her wishful thinking.
She was unwilling to let Wu Jiali give up just like that.
